Chapter 54
Millionaire's Hot Secretary
"Hey, sweetheart." Hames' sweet voice drove me out of my slumber.
I stretched my arm, yawning.
Staring at a shirtless Hames and realizing I was still naked reminded me of last night and I couldn't help the blush that flushed my face.
"From that blush, I can tell what you're thinking." He sat on the bed, dropping the tray of food he had on it. "Breakfast in bed."
I sat up straight, covering my chest with the duvet. "This is very sweet of you but I don't like eating without brushing my teeth and taking a bath first. You should've known that since you stalked me."
"Oh⦠I guess I didn't stalk you enough then. How 'bout coffee?" He lifted a mug of coffee from the tray.
I shrugged, accepting the mug from him. "There's an exception to coffee."
"Last night was the first time I've ever made love to anyone in my entire life."
I felt heat rise up in my cheeks again but still rolled my eyes. "Coming from the playboy?" I scoffed, taking a sip of the coffee.
"You need to understand that there's a big difference between having sex and making love. Last night was the latter. I had the best night of my life and it's all thanks to you. The happiness from hearing those three words from you will last for a really long time. I love you so much, baby."
I nodded, taking another sip of the coffee.
"You should freshen up. Your food might be cold when you're done dressing so I'll ask Faith to make you a new one."
"No, never mind. I'll make breakfast for us."
"You'll make breakfast?" He lifted an eyebrow.
"Yeah, you'll love it."
He left the room. I finished drinking the coffee, returned the mug to the tray then left for the bathroom for my morning rituals.
I did my morning skincare and haircare routine then wore a very short, strapless dress that showed off half of my breasts, just the way I loved it.
After grabbing my phone, I left for the kitchen. Nikita, Lila and Faith were already in it, either eating chips, drinking water or juice.
"So you're all holding a meeting against me in the kitchen?" I joked.
"Nah, we met each other here and Faith just arrived." Nikita explained.
"Oh, Faith. I didn't see you after returning from work yesterday." I noticed her red hair was very disheveled and she looked really tired. "What's wrong?"
"Uh⦠Iâ I had to attend to some personal issues. I took permission from the Head Maid, I thought she already told you."
"The head maid? She quit her job last night." I remembered that.
"Oh, I'm sorry." She smiled shortly.
"Is anything wrong?" I asked with concern. She simply shook her head and left the kitchen.
"Weirdo. Anyway, please tell any of your drivers to send my bags to my house, I'm too tired to go through that stress."
"Me too."
"Sure, whatever." I grinned, taking out the ingredients I was going to need, dropping them on the counter.
"You want to cook?" Nikita asked in disbelief.
"Obviously, yes."
"We already ate breakfast."
"I'm cooking for myself and Hames, I have no business with you two."
"Speaking of Hames, is he the reason for these beautiful marks?" Nikita pointed at an hikey between my shoulder and neck.
I quickly shook my head. "No, I⦠it's nothing." I stuttered.
"That's obviously a hickey." Nikita commented.
"So what?" I scoffed, preparing what I needed for the food. "It means nothing, now shut up."
Nikita held back her laughter by pursing her lips.
"Last night I heard you scream and I was so scared. Nikita is such a hard sleeper so she didn't wake up but I ran to your room to check if something bad happened to you but I had to stop and turn back after hearing so many moans. I'm so proud of you, girl. You're finally being a good wife to him."
"That explains why she's glowing so much." Nikita teased and I couldn't help but blush.
"Stop speaking."
"Hey, I'mâ" Hames said as he entered the kitchen but stopped, glancing at the three of us. He cleared his throat and sauntered to stand behind me. "Good morning."
"Good morning." They replied in unison.
"Hey, sweetheart." He wrapped his arms around me from behind, planting a kiss on my neck.
Lila cleared her throat, glancing at her invisible wrist watch. "Oh look, I have to go now, I'll be late for work."
"Yeah, me too." Nikita also cleared her throat. "Bye, I'll call you later tonight, if I remember. In the meantime, spend quality time with your husband."
"Sure, bye." I wiggled out of Hames' grip.
They waved at me and left the kitchen.
I returned to cooking while Hames sat on the counter, simply watching me and grinning.
"You're beautiful in every way." He commented.
"Thank you." I smiled. He wasn't shirtless but I couldn't stop remembering how every part of his body looked so hot without those clothes.
"When will you ever let me know how handsome I look? It would make me on cloud nine if you do."
"Never." I chuckled.
"So stubborn." He rolled his eyes, taking his phone out of his pocket and typing on it while sparing glances at me at short intervals.
I finished cooking then served it in two places. He insisted on eating in the kitchen which we did and he couldn't stop complimenting how good my cooking was. It wasn't the first time somebody was complimenting my cooking but hearing it from him made me feel so proud of myself.
I did the dishes after we were done with our meal.
"You're definitely not going to the office dressed like that. We don't want Mr. Hendrix from your first day at work to come alive again."
I cringed after remembering how he barked at me on the first day. "I definitely don't want that crazy jerk."
"I was so frustrated on that day. How could you let anyone else see my possession?"
"You didn't own me."
"But now I do." He tucked a few strands of my blonde hair behind my ear.
"If you've stolen someone's heart then you own them." I adjusted his tie.
He grinned. "I'm so glad to hear that. I have to leave now. You have a lot to work on, I have a meeting with a new company." He kissed my forehead.
"You're leaving now?" I frowned.
"Yes, I have to." He turned around but I held him back and stood in front of him. "What's wrong?"
"You're not leaving until you tell me who Samantha is."
"She's really not important." He started to fidget. "Forget it."
"Are you kidding me?" I frowned. "How can you say she's not important when she's a major problem in our lives right now? What's with her that you're afraid to reveal to me?"
His chest started to rise and fall faster, increasing my worry. "Shâshe's⦠I can'tâ¦"
"You can't tell me who she is?" I felt tears forming in my eyes. Oh no. "Why? What's with her? You're making me regret everything about last night by not telling me who the hell she is. Don't you trust me?"
He frowned really hard. "Of course I trust you and please don't regret anything."
"Why won't I? Why are you so angry at the mention of her name?" My eyes betrayed me by letting a tear roll from it. My heart was racing in fear at how he was being adamant on not revealing the woman's identity. "Who is she?"
"Imogen, can't you let it be?" He replied angrily.
"Why are you so angry at me because I'm questioning you? We're married, and we agree that we love each other so please there should be no secrets. Who is Samantha? I hope⦠I hope you're not cheating on me."
His frown intensified. "Don't ever think that. I'm not cheating on you with her and I'll never cheat on you, that's a promise I'm making to you."
"Then who the fuck is she?!" I barked, feeling so frustrated. "I'm your wife. Please trust me to let me know."
He gazed at me, still looking so furious. "Fine, I'll let you know tonight."
"No, not tonight. I need an answer right now. Don't make me make any stupid decision," I cupped his face, "please. Don't make me find out the truth from someone else, I won't ever forgive you and would never give you a chance in my life anymore."
He sighed and held my waist. "Don't be so bothered by her, she's just a crazy woman."
"I am very bothered by this issue. I don't like your angry gaze at me when I mention her name."
"I'm not mad at you for asking," he sighed. "Samantha is just a crazy woman who is kinda obsessed with me but don't worry, she won't disturb you again, I'll take care of her disturbance."
"Obsessed? How can she be obsessed with my husband?" I frowned. "Is that really all? Is that what you've been unable to tell me? Are you sure there's nothing more to this?" I squinted my eyes at him.
"So now you don't trust me?"
"I don't why I don't feel convinced by your answer."
"I trust you and have told you the truth so it's your turn to trust me. Just stay safe, I'm always here for you. I'll make sure you don't receive her stupid threat calls and messages if she's behind this."
"So you'll go to her?" I didn't like the fact that he was going to meet someone who was obsessed with him.
"Are you scared someone would steal your husband?"
"She's obsessed with you."
"No one is stealing me from you. I'm all yours, baby. I'm running late. I need to leave now so I'll return home really earlier tonight for more beautiful moments with you. I can't stop thinking about how hard youâ"
"Shut up and leave." I stood on my tip toes to give him a kiss.
"I love you."
I only smiled, internally dancing in excitement that I had confirmed I loved him too. I swear it was the best feeling of my life.
I accompanied him out of the house till he got into his car. "Wear something decent and go to work. There's a lot to do. Don't forget you're now the boss' wife and you have more responsibilities at work."
I nodded in understanding and waved him goodbye.
The moment the car swerved away and out of the compound, I returned inside, forgetting to shut the door.
I flinched as the door closing on its own sounded.
Before I could turn back, a hand covered my mouth.
"Don't speak." No way! That voice was damn too familiar.
I was twirled around and came face to face with Faith. Though her hair was still very disheveled, she had a dangerous look in her hazel eyes.
My eyes widened as I noticed a clearly sharp knife in her other hand.
She placed her index finger on my lips. "Shhhh. Don't speak or you'll die."
