Chapter 39
Millionaire's Hot Secretary
Gosh, I hated terrible dramas like this. She was in love with Hames?
"Okay, so what?" I asked indifferently.
Confusion was evident on her entire face. "So what? I'm warning you. You're married to Hames but he's mine. You should be scared of me, I'll get you out of his life."
I chuckled, earning a confused glare from her then I chuckled again before bursting into laughter.
"Is this a joke to you? Do I sound funny?" My laughter was clearly frustrating her.
"It's kinda funny." I ended my laughter and rose to my feet, holding her shoulders. "Listen here, babe." I brushed her shoulders with my palms. "I don't have any interest in Hames. He forced me to marry him and I don't love him. I'd be really glad if you could help me leave this marriage by making him yours." I shrugged. Was I doing the right thing? Maybe yes? Maybe not?
"Really?" She smirked, taking my hands off her shoulders like my hands were some kind of disgusting shit. I didn't like that.
"Yeah. Don't ever pester me about this anymore. I hate useless dramas like this and can't bear the annoyance of being involved in them. Goodnight, I'm off to bed." I waved her off and headed towards the stairs.
She laughed so hard. "That's right, leave. It was so easy dealing with you. I thought you were going to argue then things would have been so rough." She stopped laughing then there was absolute silence while I was feeling excited internally that I had found a way to get rid of Hames in my life. "Hey," she called.
I pivoted to her, lifting an eyebrow to express my lack of interest in whatever she had to say.
"Don't you dare change your mind. If this is some kind of joke to make me less bothered about your presence, it won't work. I could be very crazy despite being the sweetest angel."
"Sweetest angel? I don't see anything so angelic or sweet about you." I admitted. "And may I know how crazy you can be?" I folded my arms across my chest. "I need to confirm something."
"Very crazy to the point of doing anything to have my Hames." Jeez, possessive and obsessive much? "I can't bear the fact that anyone else is with Hames, I've ruined his past relationships. You're so lucky to escape my craziness, else things won't have been well." She said with a smug lopsided grin.
"Your talk is boring me,"
"The fact that you're living in this house is pissing me off." She frowned. Hames was right, she was such a blabbermouth. Hadn't she ended her false threat? "Anyway, it's nice that you know your place."
"Bye." I turned around again.
"I really wonder how he got married to a bitch like you, but it's a great thing that you know you're no match for the queen."
I had to pivot again, wearing a frown. "Excuse me?"
"Duh. You're obviously a gold digger pretending to love my Hames for his money. I won't let you have a penny from him."
"A gold digger, uh?" I nodded. "Whether or not I'm interested in Hames, I think I'd try to be the good person I am to let him know he should stay away from you." I frowned, advancing to her. "And never think so highly of yourself. You've only proven to be a worthless freak." I said sincerely.
Her face turned deep red with anger. "How dare you?" She said through gritted teeth.
"Oh, so you can call me silly names but get pissed off by that? In a really short period, you've made me have a lot of reasons to not like you." I admitted.
"I don't like you either. If it weren't my Hames' fault, I wouldn't ever be speaking with a slutty, gold-digger, bitchy whore right now." She spat.
That did it! That made the last nut holding my brain in place loose. I tried my best to control myself because whenever I got this angry, I could be really dangerous so I shut my eyes and sighed, walking to stand in front of her. "Did you just just call 'my husband' your Hames?" I asked, placing a stress on 'my husband'.
"Okay, I lied, I lied so bad. I love my darling husband and he loves me too. You claimed to be crazy but I'd let you know that the amount of craziness dwelling in me is greater than the mass of the entire earth. I didn't want you to bother about me but I don't like your possessiveness over my possession."
Her mouth widened. "I should've known!"
"Yes, you should have but now you know. I'm certain my husband won't dare to be interested in you. He has loved me for two years but as far as I remember, you've been friends with him for 10 years yet you couldn't make him love you?" I clicked my tongue, shaking my head with fake pity.
"Twâtwo yearâyears?" She stuttered. "That's impossible."
"He didn't let you know? I thought you shared every one of your secrets with each other. And you want to get rid of me? I assume he also didn't let you know about the contract either."
"What contract?" She asked nervously.
"You're so clueless. I'm married to Hames now so your presence would be a big problem. I'll make sure you're out of our lives very soon, I'll assure you." It was my turn to smirk.
She shook her head in disbelief. "Hames loves me, he definitely does, he's just yet to discover it. And he listens to anything I say. We have so many romantic memories together. And I can make him do anything I want him to." She said with a confident smile.
I was about to speak against it but instead said, "You're obviously brainless so talking with you makes me feel stupid and childish."
Her frown returned. "Do you know who you're speaking with? I'm rich but you're nothing, I have the upper hand here."
"I'm married to a rich man too. Once again, I feel stupid talking to you. Don't mess with me, you'll be playing with the wrong fire."
"I should be telling you that. I can make Hames leave you for a day or two, a week, a month, indefinitely tillâ"
We both flinched when the sound of the door being opened interrupted her.
We both glanced at the door as Hames came in, shutting the door.
"Wow, it's so nice to see my special people having a good conversation." That was a very quick assumption. "Sorry for interrupting, I forgot something upstairs." He started walking towards us.
"Watch me," she whispered and smirked without Hames noticing.
Hames stopped in front of us and was about to reach for me but she stopped him by holding his arms, wearing the cutest smile that didn't match her sinister look a couple of seconds ago.
"Oh, Hames. You know it's been a while since we've spent quality time together. Let's go to a club or somewhere romantic."
"Friendship romantic style." Hames added, glancing at me.
"Whatever, let's just leave."
"I was heading somewhereâ"
She cut him off. "You won't spend time with your best friend? I won't forgive you for not inviting me to your wedding if you don't come now and you know how hard it is to gain my forgiveness." She pouted. So stupid.
His face contorted like he remembered something and he shuddered. "I definitely know how hard it is and I'm not ready to let that happen. I can cancel what I was supposed to do for your sake, for tonight."
"Great!" She pecked his cheek, not respecting my presence. My eyes widened at that and I knew my breath seized for a few seconds.
Hames didn't seem to care that he was just kissed on the cheek by another woman in the presence of his wife, the woman he claimed to love so much. I didn't know what kind of feeling it was or why it was happening but I felt extremely furious and the need to pounce on Amanda. That confirmed that she was the first on my list of the people I hated, starting now.
"I'd like to hug your sweet wife before we leave to have fun." She threw herself on me and hugged me really tight to whisper into my ear, "I have control here. It's just the beginning, sweetheart." She chuckled, pulled away from me and to Hames, encircling her arm around his arm, pulling him with her.
"Jeez, women are so filled with so many problems." He groaned. Amanda turned her head to me with a stupid smirk I felt like peeling off with a knife.
"Hames," I held his arm before she pulled him out of arm's reach. He turned to me, looking quite tired. "You're not leaving."
"I'm not leaving you," He chortled. "I'm only hanging out for a while."
"Don't leave." I said with a serious tone.
Amanda's face became red hot again.
"Is there a problem?" He raised his eyebrows.
"No. I don't want you to leave. You're staying right here with me." I smiled.
"That's weird but if you want me to, I will." He was really going to stay? My smile grew wider.
"Are you kidding me? You're coming with me. I'd be mad at you and you won't like it. You're not going to stay because she asked you to."
He curled an arm around my waist. "Sorry, Mandy. I'm a married man now and my wife comes first. If Imogen wants me to stay then I have to." I was shocked to know I had so much control over this crazy grumpy boss of mine.
"Hames," she huffed, fanning a hand over her face dramatically.
"Don't be dramatic." He rolled his eyes at her.
"Mr. Hendrix," I called in a seductive voice, keeping my arm around his neck. Though he had the most amused expression on his face, he also wrapped his arms around my waist. "You'd do anything I ask of you, right?"
"Definitely. Anything for my Queen but as long as you reward me." He simpered.
"Okay, my King." I nibbled on my lower lip.
"God, this woman would make me go completely crazy." He breathed out.
"You'll not go to a club or on any stupid romantic date with anyone, whether or not she's your best friend." I said and Amanda gasped.
"She can't end that. It's something we do a lot; romantic dates as best friends." She frowned.
Hames drew his eyes in askance at me and Amanda but didn't respond.
"I'm sorry but I wouldn't like my husband to go on 'romantic' dates with anyone, it's inappropriate. Would you please carry me to our room? My legs hurt." I lied, I know, but the anger and hurt on Amanda's face was filling me with a weird type of exultancy.
Hames stared at me suspiciously but lifted me up my feet, carrying me in a bridal style.
I placed my arms around his neck again and planted a kiss on his cheek. "It's just the beginning, sweetheart." I smirked at Amanda. I swear I could see smoke oozing out of her ears. She could explode anytime soon.
"Uh?"
"Never mind, just take me to our room." I brushed his cheek with my fingers. I couldn't believe I was doing this. I had to admit I didn't feel bad about it at all, I was happy and didn't feel the need to puke my guts out at the fact that I was in Hames arms and just kissed him, not on the lips though.
Hames still looked puzzled but carried me to our room.
I assumed Amanda knew who she was messing with now; a very crazy Tigress, ready to devour her prey.
The earlier I accepted the fact that Hames was my husband now, the better it was going to be. I remembered that and it meant I couldn't let any crazy being have him.
