Chapter 75
Mr George, Don't Be So Arrogant
William came down from the car in front and saw Riley.
It was the first time he saw her wearing a dress, a simple dress without any accessories. She did not even put down the ponytail that she usually tied up during work. But, her pure and clean image easily caught his attention.
Her gracefulness surprised him a lot.
Jeanne, Moriah and the other female doctors were all dressed up very well. Although Rileyâs dress was not outstanding, just her clean, refreshing appearance made her stand out among the crowd.
They went directly to the seventh floor. There were only two presidential rooms on the seventh floor, but both the rooms occupied the whole floor dominantly. The rooms were enormous.
The drinks, wine, snacks, and fruits were placed neatly on the few tables that were arranged into a long table. The European-style sofas were arranged into a semicircle. The room was at least 200 square meters with not only karaoke, but also the snooker, mahjong table, and other facilities.
When they went in, the whole room became noisy and restless at once.
âMr. Hardesty! Sing! You are the boss today!â
One of the doctors handed the microphone to William, forcing him to sing the first song. William rejected, âYou all carry on. Iâm not good at singing.â
Riley sat on the sofa, and William sat on the other end. There was no one between them but the distance between them was far. Riley held on to the glass with one hand, and her other hand was on the sofa. William gazed at her.
However, she was in a daze as she gazed in some direction.
Of course, she would not know what the people around her thought.
But Jeanne saw all of that. The wine glass covered her face, but her gaze was on William all the while. His enthusiastic and caring gaze of William on Riley was what she had always wanted from him!
âEveryone, donât just sing. Mr. Price wanted to thank all the personnel that had made great contributions to the operation. Come on, letâs raise the glass to our main surgeon, Mr. Hardesty!â
Everyone surrounded William and gave him a toast. Riley took a sip too.
âNo. That would not be sincere enough. We have to each toast you individually! Since Mr. Hardestyâs medical skill is so excellent, he surely can drink a lot!â
With that, many people took turns to toast William. William was a good drinker and was not drunk at all.
âNext, shall we pay our respect to Dr. Watson? Dr. Watson had made a great contribution as the first assistant of this operation. She even helped Dr.
Smith after she finished her operation! The toast is a must!â
Riley was shocked, âI canât drink much. Can I drink only one glass of wine?â
Moriah sneered, âDr. Riley, are you looking down upon us? Even Mr. Hardesty did not say anything when we toasted him. What do you mean by this?â
William said, âI am a man, we canât be compared. Toasting once would be enough.â
Moriah asked everyone, âDo you guys think thatâs fine?â
âNo! Dr. Watson must drink! Dr. Watson! Dr. Watson!â
Riley who could not stand the cheers of the crowd could only hold up her wine, âOkay, Iâll drink.â
Moriah swayed her glass a little, âDr. Watson, I admire your medical skills. Iâll give you the first toast.â
She lifted her head and drank it all. Then, she inverted her glass and shook it, âOkay?â
âGood job, Dr. Curry! Dr. Watson, finish it!â
Riley frowned. Her glass was full...
She closed her eyes and drank all of it.
Once the toast started, it would not end just like that. The people who wanted to toast her came one after another. William held up his hand to stop them, âThatâs enough. Letâs stop.â
He snatched Rileyâs glass, âIâll drink this for her.â
âMr. Hardesty should drink two glasses of that if you want to help her!â
Riley only felt that she was dizzy. The karaoke seemed to be shaking below her feet. The wine numbed her brain, and her head ached. She pressed on her temples and shook her head. She felt she was about to vomit.
Riley felt sudden nauseous, and she stumbled towards the toilet as holding onto the sofa.
William just wanted to follow with Riley when Jeanne came towards him with a glass of wine. She held onto him, âMr. Hardesty, I did not have the chance to toast you just now. Iâll toast you now.â
When Riley got out of the room, she held onto the wall and walked to the toilet. Then, she squatted down and threw up all the things in her stomach.
She staggered out the toilet. The sink was at the doorway of the toilet. One side was for the malesâ toilet, while the other side was for the ladies' toilet.
Riley placed her hand in the sink and washed it. The water flowed out from the tap, and she sprinkled some onto her face. She was finally a little sobered up.
But...
She had sobered up, but why was there Euanâs reflection on the mirror.
There was a mirror above the sink. Euan was looking at Riley through the mirror. Both of their eyes intersected in the mirror...
Riley shook her head vigorously. 'Impossible, it must be an illusion. Euan would not be in a place like this. Absolutely not!â
When she opened her eyes again, Euanâs face was still there in the mirror. He was gazing at her with an unfathomable look. He was judging on her, questioning her, and had a tint of care for her in his gaze.
Riley turned around slowly and looked at her back with her blurry eyes. Euan, who was behind her, turned around at the same time. His tall and sturdy body was stern and domineering, overpowering her.
Riley was awakened at that moment.
She blurted out, âWhy are you here?â
Euan pulled out a tissue and wiped the water on his hands elegantly. âI am the one who should ask you that. You did not come back the whole night yesterday because of an overtime job. Then how are you going to explain yourself about today?â
Riley was drunk, but she still had her sense. She told him the true condition, âWe are having a party with the colleagues in the hospital. If you donât believe in me, we are in that private room.â
So, she was in the private room opposite the private room of the MBK gathering. The doctors were willing to spend money. Spending money in such a place meant that they must use up everyoneâs total salary of the month to pay it.
Euan frowned. Her drunk state made him frustrated, âDid you drink?â
Riley tried to force herself to stay awake, âYou have your work gathering, I have mine. Since I donât interfere with yours, then you shouldnât interfere with mine too.â
After she finished her words, she stumbled out of the toilet towards the private room without noticing Euanâs hand reaching towards her.
Euan frowned. Did she forget that she could be easily drunk and was even having the courage to drink so much?
Easily drunk...
That sudden phrase struck Euan. If she was forced to drink again, she would not be able to even stand up that night.
Euan walked back to his private room and looked at the door shut tightly behind him as he opened the door of his private room.
âBoss, donât you have to punish yourself by drinking a glass of wine for staying so long at the toilet?â
Euan held the wine glass with his slender finger and said casually, âOpen the door.â
Elijah was dumbfounded, âThis is a karaoke, not a restaurant...It would be noisy if the door is opened...â
Euan continued, âOpen it.â
âOkay, Iâll do that.â
Elijah opened the door of his private room wide, and opposite it was a tightly closed door.
Euan shook the wine in his glass, and he said slowly with a sexy voice, âDo you want me to drink?â
âOf course! Boss, you havenât drunk much wine tonight.â
Euan unpredictably said lightly, âItâs simple. Open the door opposite us and Iâll drink three glasses of wine.â
Huh?
What kind of request was that? Who knew who was in the other private room?
âWhy? No one dares to do that?â
A lady from the Public Relations Department swayed as she walked towards Euan, âPresident, we can do it, but it was opening otherâs private room door. Drinking wine might not be enough as an exchange.â
Alcohol could make one brave. The drunk employees had forgotten who Euan was. They even dared to request him. They would be fired if it was some other day.
But that day...
Euan was eager to look at the situation in the private room opposite them, so he agreed, âOpen the door and Iâll sing.â
That deal was something unusual! They must do it no matter what it takes!
âItâs a deal then, president!â
The lady swayed her hips and walked towards the door and pushed open the door.
When both of the doors were opened, it seemed like they were holding a cross room fraternity. All people from the opposite room looked at them in surprise. Although both were private rooms, the doctors were more conservative, while the other side was bold and unconstrained.
Those were two different scenes.
Euan held his wine glass, searching for Riley in her private room. And soon, he saw Riley, who was sitting on the sofa. She was weakly holding her forehead and seemed to be chatting something happily. William was sitting beside her and was wiping her forehead with a tissue.
She was looking for death!
Elijah saw Riley too and immediately understood his bossâs intention. Thus, he encouraged, âSince both doors are opened, why donât we ask them to join us? I heard that they were famous doctors from the Central Hospital. Donât you guys want to get to know some handsome men and women?â
Euan did not speak, which meant he had given the permission. When Euan did not speak, or he wasnât angry, that meant he was supporting the idea!
âHi! Guys! How about enjoying the moment together?â
When someone from Euanâs side shouted, the doctorsâ attention was all on them. Riley raised her head, and her sight met Euanâs gaze.
What? Why was there such a coincidence?
At that moment, the smile on her face froze. She immediately looked away. There were enough rumors about her and Euan. She could not let her colleague suspect their relationship.
âOh my god! Isnât...isnât that Euan? Do we have the chance to drink with him?â
Moriah said sarcastically in a low voice, âDr. Watson, why donât you go and greet him, arenât you his mistress?â
William noticed Euan too, but he just glanced at him for a second, âDr. Curry, you have just reviewed your professionalism in my office this morning.
Do you want to write a report about having a bad ideology and moral value tomorrow?â
William caught her weakness. Moriah was angry, but she couldnât speak out for herself. The ones who heard that were holding onto their laughter.
âOkay! Letâs play! What do you want to play?â
Elijah looked at Euan. He was trying to guess his bossâ thoughts. What did his boss wish to play with Mrs. George? That was the key.
But he pondered and still could not guess. The boss and his wife seldom interact.
Not waiting for Elijah to get a conclusion, a lady from the Marketing Department shouted, âOf course we should drink and compete singing in the karaoke!â
Competing for singing and drinking was a bold and enthusiastic game.
Both of the groups agreed.
The doctors and the MBK were rivals in the game. Each of them chose the person that they wanted to play the game with. The ones who sang wrongly would have to drink!
âWhat if someone canât drink? We canât force them, right!?â
Some doctors rejected. They could not drink against those heavy drinkers from the business field.
âIf you donât want to drink, then accept a small request from the winner. Playing is for fun!â
Riley silently glanced at Euan. He did not seem to care what both sides were doing. But who would dare to do so without his permission?
Euan did not react even a bit from the beginning itself. But his dark eyes had already pierced through the wine glass and gazed at Riley tons of times...
