Chapter 22 - High Profile Fiancée

What kind of transmigration is this?!

Aila woke up early the next morning to pack up her bags for the flight going home. Calvin is currently taking a shower.

She decided to find Dalton to say goodbye, she felt bad that they were leaving without saying anything and it was his birthday not too long ago too.

She went downstairs to find a staff to point her in the right direction. Thankfully most are quite up early, and they directed her Infront of Dalton's room.

She hesitated for a moment thinking it's too early, but they will be leaving soon so now is the right time.

After a few more knocks, a disheveled half naked Dalton poke his head out of the door.

Aila was momentarily stunned. Why are all these male leads so handsome? Clearing her throat she said:

"Good morning, Dalton. Sorry to wake you up so early. I just wanted to say goodbye and thank you for inviting us to your birthday party. For what it's worth, I had a great time."

With a groggy look and slightly hoarse voice Dalton responded:

"You're always welcome. Too bad you need to leave soon."

"Yeah, we have to go. Uhm...I'm sorry if my presence seems to ruin your celebration." Aila said guiltily.

Dalton straightened up and messed with his already messy hair. He then sighed frustratedly.

"It wasn't your fault to begin with Aila. Don't take it to heart. Calvin is right, we don't have a right to butt in on his decisions specially when it comes to something like marriage. Just think of last night as a phase we all had to go through to grow up."

"You are so mature. I'm sure your friends are lucky to have you." Aila responded with some amazement.

Dalton then looked at her a little longer, seeming to want to ask something.

"If...if you someday find yourself wanting to get away, call me, ok?" Dalton offered unexpectedly.

"What do you mean by that?" Aila asked puzzled.

"Aila!" Suddenly a shout is heard not too far away.

Aila turned and found Calvin striding towards them, his hair still wet from the shower.

Damn! Two hotties in one morning? Was today a lucky day?

Calvin finally arrived where Aila is at. He eyed Dalton for a few seconds.

"Hey Dal."

"Hi, Cal."

After a moment pause, Calvin said:

"Thanks for having us, man. Sorry about last night."

"Don't mention it."

They then both looked at Aila and seemed to be waiting on her.

Argh...much as I enjoy the view. We obviously had to go.

"Well, we'll be going then Dalton." Aila said with a slight smile.

"Yeah...safe trip." Dalton said with a sad smile.

Calvin just nodded at him and grabbed Aila's hand and left.

"Why didn't you wait for me?"

"Well, I figured that since last night is quite awkward with you guys that I should at least say something to our gracious host. It seems rude just to leave without a word." Aila reasoned with a pout.

"Well, next time, don't go to a guy's room so early in the morning alone." Calvin said frustratedly.

"It wasn't a big deal; I was just saying goodbye."

Calvin sighed and rubbed his neck. How do you say to a girl that her appearance so early in the morning is too tempting for any man?

"All men are wolves honey."

"Including you?" Aila said sarcastically.

"Well, specially me. But I'm you're wolf and no one else." Calvin responded with a smirk.

Aila was left speechless with his retort.

Dalton City

The streets are abuzz about the new headlines regarding the Harrison Conglomerate scandal. It was all over the news and magazines.

A few days ago, a story broke out about a hidden relationship between the famous Calvin Harrison and Hanna Snyder.

Now, news outlets are abuzz regarding the supposed future Mrs. Harrison hailing from the Carter Clan which are also heavily influential and powerful in their own right.

Just goes to show that Mother Carter left no stone unturned to show the world that her baby is the one and only future Mrs. Harrison.

"Mom, don't you think this is over the top? You even had a plane chartered to show the headlines across the city."

Just on cue a plane whizzed by Allister's office window showing the headline:

'The future Mrs. Harrison: The goddess that stole the playboy's heart.'

"Nonsense! This should've happened from the very beginning when we announced her engagement at the banquet. Besides, I had the old man Harrison's permission for it."

"But still, every magazine and news report? Don't you think you're exposing Aila too much?"

"If my Aila wasn't born rich, she could've been a star you know? I just wanted to show whoever planted that story with the Hanna girl that she is no match for the real deal." Mother said with a triumph.

Allister cannot obviously stop his mother, although she has her odd moments, she is still the madam of the Carter Empire and has the power to move mountains if need be.

He just hopes his sister will survive this storm their mother cooked up for her.

Meanwhile...

Aila groggily alighted the plane, she felt tired from the long journey and vowed not to travel to a place too far away for the time being.

She almost stumbled and fall flat on her face if it weren't for Calvin's arms around her.

"Be careful, you need to keep your eyes open honey." Calvin said with a chuckle.

"Argh...let's not travel this far for the time being. I'm getting dizzy from the turbulence."

"Do you need to have a doctor check in on you?" Calvin asked worriedly.

"No, that's overkill. I just need some rest." Aila responded weakly.

Calvin without a second thought princess carried Aila to head out towards the airport's VIP lounge.

"What are you doing?! Put me down, I can walk!" Aila said panickly.

"Relax, we'll just take a break at the airport lounge then we'll head home, ok? Be good."

Aila sighed dejectedly.

"Fine."

Lulled by Calvin's arms, Aila didn't notice and fell asleep.

Calvin looked at her haggard face and felt a pinched at his heart seeing her frailty. He then laid her down on a bed set up in the VIP lounged and decided to rest as well on the recliner beside her.

He then received a call from his secretary telling him to check out the headlines that has been strewn around the city since this morning.

Curious, Calvin opened his phone and had to chuckle on the antics of his future mother-in-law. He turned to look at the goddess who apparently stole his heart.

Well, I wonder how'd she'd react when she finds this out.
