Chapter 21 - Confrontation
What kind of transmigration is this?!
It was late when Aila and Calvin went back to the villa, she had to admit that Calvin was such good company. They seem to always have something to talk about. They we're planning to rest for the night and catch a plane early tomorrow morning.
When they got off the car, they noticed that most of the lights in the villa were off. Both of them felt that there was something amiss. Loaded with Aila's shopping bags, Calvin step in first to open the door while Aila peered cautiously in the back.
Why does this feel like a horror movie all of a sudden?
It was deadly quite for a place that was so lively a few hours ago. They slowly went in the villa and when they came into the living room, they found the other four main characters all sitting quietly seemingly waiting for them.
Aila went over them quickly to judge the situation, Dalton seems feed up sitting haphazardly on the sofa, Bryson is leaning by the wall seeming to be looking forward to a show, Hanna is fidgeting and seems nervous while Markus is fuming and ready to pounce.
"What's going on?" Calvin asked the awkward crowd warily.
"We need to talk Calvin." Markus said seriously.
"Markus, it's really nothing. You don't need to take this seriously." Hanna interjected, seeming to be almost in tears.
I'm lost, what's going on here? I don't remember this in the plot.
Aila thought that this event may not be included in the book, Afterall so far there's been a lot of things omitted in the book as far as her experience goes. You can't write a lifetime of these characters so easily in a 300 or so pages.
Calvin then put down the shopping bags on the side and said:
"Alright, let's talk."
Markus looked at her then he said:
"She doesn't need to hear this."
Thank you for the consideration male lead but I very well want to hear this.
"There's no need for that; whatever you want to say she can hear it fine." Calvin said nonchalantly.
"Fine, I warned you. I know what happened with Hanna last night." Markus said, seeming to be on the edge. Aila could see him opening and closing his fist on the side.
If a real fiancée heard that, she would probably go ballistic. That sentence was just loaded if it's not explained. She feels awkward just standing there besides Calvin, she very much wants to sit and witness this scene more comfortably.
Hanna then grabbed Markus's arm and pleaded not to do this.
Calvin looked at them annoyedly.
"What of it, Markus?"
"Why would you pick her over Hanna? Do you need to make her cry that way Calvin?"
Oh? what's this?
Aila went back and forth between Markus and Calvin's profile, both are obviously quite lookers but at the moment, their jaws are set, and tension is in the air. She unconsciously backed off a little seeming to sense a fight about to break out between them.
Calvin caught her little action on the corner of his eye and stopped her, he held her hand tightly seeming not to let go.
"What do you mean why should I choose Aila over Hanna? when there's no comparison to be made in the first place." Calvin said almost a sneer.
"You...we know you liked her since high school, she ultimately picked you. We've made a deal that whoever she picks we'll gladly backed away and what did you do? You've insulted her and actually rejected her!" Markus almost spat out at Calvin.
I really want to get out of here...
The drama is not worth watching this close and it's uncomfortable, she looked at Hanna and found she had an expectant look on her face.
This girl's brain is quite twisted, does she enjoy having men fight over her?
"Markus, I'll say this once and only once, what I do with my life is none of you guys' business. That includes who I choose to be with for the rest of my life, besides now that I'm out of the picture shouldn't you make your move? It's not like I'm the only one who liked her, no?" Calvin said almost mockingly.
"Why Calvin? what does she have that I don't?" Hanna interjected suddenly; she seems not able to accept the reality that Calvin is not her devoted admirer anymore.
Calvin looked at her coldly, Hanna could feel her hair standing on end. Calvin seemed very dangerous at the moment. She didn't have the experience of receiving that cold gaze of his in the past.
Calvin then turned Aila towards him, he pinched her chin then kissed her in front of the crowd, it was no ordinary kiss but a passionate one. Aila was left breathless at the end of it, with her cheeks all flushed and her gaze dazed. She was held tightly by Calvin. She felt her knees would buckle any moment from the sudden intrusion.
Infront of the flabbergasted crowd, Calvin said:
"This is why I chose her. Because she is all mine." Calvin declared boldly. Nipping in the process as well any thoughts that might sprout from any of his so-called friends on Aila that he started sensing from them since yesterday.
Calvin then signaled to the butler to have the shopping bags brought to their room. Without a word, Calvin left the living room while holding Aila's hand.
Aila is left speechless, she took a quick look at the people left in the living room and found that Markus was hugging and comforting the crying, Hanna.
sigh...is this what they call a butterfly effect? does this mean that the main characters are not that powerful in this world and are just like normal people?
She looked at Calvin who was standing silently not too far away, they went back to their room immediately and she was just sitting at the edge of the bed waiting for him to calm down. She has no idea what to say, besides she's not to clear either when they said Calvin chose her over Hanna, the heroine.
For sure she didn't end up with Calvin, but he remained a wandering bachelor and supporter of hers in the end of the story because she chose the male lead Markus. As for her, there wasn't much story to tell, it wasn't even specified that she ended up with a one-night stand with this male god. She was simply mentioned in passing as that quirky & crazy admirer of his.
"I'm sorry about that earlier...I was too caught up in my emotion." Calvin said after a while.
"No... don't be sorry, I understand somewhat." To be honest, she's quite confused right now. So where will this relationship go if the male lead himself dumped the female lead?
Calvin then strode towards her and kneeled on one knee in front of her, he took her left hand, he was eyeing her hand closely for some reason. Aila just looked at him puzzled.
"I should get you a bigger ring."
"What?"
"I said you need a bigger ring. This one is too small."
"Hold on a sec, are we not going to talk about what just happened there? Did you blow your chance with Hanna like they said?"
"What chance? There's never going to be chance between us to begin with."
"Why not? didn't you like her?"
Calvin looked at her face then smiled mischievously.
"Honey, I'm hurt that you don't care if other women take a dig at me."
Aila smacked his arm.
"Be serious!"
"Alright...It's just that I realized I don't like her anymore. You made me open my eyes."
"Me?" How is this my fault?
"Yeah, you."
"How did I even do that? I don't recall ever doing that!?"
"That's a secret."
Calvin then kissed her cheek and said:
"Get ready for bed honey, we'll leave early tomorrow morning for home. I'll step out for a bit to handle some things, ok?"
Is it me or do I seem like a passive character in all of this? there was so much drama behind my back!

Meanwhile
Mother Carter was holding a magazine from Elite Daily with Aila and Calvin's dazzling photo at the banquet. It's titled: The future Mrs. Harrison: The goddess that stole the playboy's heart.
If Aila knew this, she would be pulling her hair out by now. Her uncontrollable fate to being married for real in the future seems to be a done deal at this point.
