chapter 48

PresentI woke up with my phone ringing. I took a deep yawn and stretched my hand to reach my phone. Name shined infront of my eyes. Matthew. What Matthew? It took a second for me to realise the name. I rubbed my eyes hastily, just to check if I am not dreaming. But it turns out that I am not. I picked up immediately before the ring stops. "Hello. Brother." I said hesitantly."Yupp. Ashton. I called you.. because.. Dad.. actually dad." His frightened voice stuttering through the phone made a fear rush through me. "What Dad? What happened to him?" I yelled. Aisha's eyes opened wide quickly hearing me. "We are in hospital. I am sending you location. Just come here." He replied.I became tensed. Aisha got up on the bed and held my hands in hers."Hospital? Why? Is anything serious?" I asked him. "It's not easy to say it out on call. Come here so that you can see it." He said followed by sobs. The call was hung up now. I looked at Aisha. She curiously looked at my face. "We need to go to hospital, right now." I told her while getting up from bed. "Why?" She asked."He didn't mention anything. It seems like something happened to Dad." I panicked. And she noticed it. She rubbed her palm on my shoulder assuring me and said, "Let's go." I wore my track pants and a tshirt, while she prepared a basket of fruits within few minutes. And we were at the location in half an hour. "Are you cold in night dress?" I asked before stepping out of the car. She didn't changed because we didn't got time for that. Though she was wearing pastel pink full sleeves co-ords. "No it's okay. Let's go inside." She said. Without caring about herself she stepped out. I remember having a extra jacket in the trunk. I saw her going in so I decided to take the jacket. She walked as I opened the trunk and took out a black leather jacket. And went inside. She was waiting in the reception. When she saw me coming inside she came running and pulled me to the way. "What were you doing? I had already asked in reception. Hurry up now." She said. Her eyes were at the extent to drip. But she controlled and kept pulling my hand. We saw Ester standing out of the room. When her eyes felt on us she came running and pulled Aisha in a hug. She sobbed. Words dared not to come out of her throat. I went near Desmond who was sitting on a bench out of OT. Mom was beside him. I touched his shoulder and his head turned to me in respond. His red eyes met mine. It's really serious. "What happened? What is with Dad? Is he okay? Explain me please." I yelled and tears came out of my eyes. "Ashton. He had a heart attack again." It's second time. He replied. My heart itched."When did it happened?" I asked sitting on my knees beside my mother's legs. "I was sleeping and suddenly.. he.. he screamed in pain. He said it's paining a lot in his chest. I called Matthew. Until he came your Dad started sweating furiously. His body shivered and he fainted. We brought him here. And admitted him immediately." Mom said. And sobbed. She hugged me and cried a lot. "Mom." I sweet voice said after few minutes. It was Aisha. She patted my mom's shoulder and said, "It will be okay. Don't cry please." Tears were hastily making their way out of her eyes. Ester stood beside her. She looked like she had already cried a lot and now she has went numb. I pulled myself standing up. Ester sat on the other side to Desmond and Aisha kept consoling them all. She was crying too, but she acted like a responsible person. She is doing what my family and me actually needs now. "Where is Matthew and Marie?" I asked to Desmond."Matt went to pay bills. And Marie is at home. You know she is pregnant. We can't stress her by bringing here." He replied. I nodded back. "Have you told all this to Hazel?" Aisha asked. "Yeah. Ester informed her already. She will be here after some time." He replied to her. "I think. Aisha and Ester you should head to home. Marie is alone there. And  it's already her 5th month. She needs to be cared at this time." Mom said looking at Aisha. "Okay. Aisha, can you go home with Ester?" I requested her."But.. I. Okay I will." She said wiping tears off her eyes. "But, can I atleast wait until Doctor comes out. I am sure it won't take much time. Please." She pleaded. I nodded back. So far I know it's 2 hours since operation has started and Hazel just arrived. We told her about the situation. She took some time to become comfortable but at the end we all were ready for any situation we would have to face. Finally Doctor came out and I ran to him immediately. He removed his mask and said, "He is fine for now. But take care of him. I am warning you all again. It will lead to death if he didn't stop smoking." He smokes? I wasn't aware of it. Matthew left out a sigh."Can we meet him now?" Mom asked. "Yeah. But he is still unconscious. You can just see him now. And let them transfer him earlier to the room you booked." Doctor said. I nodded back. Aisha sat near Ester who listened our chat without changing her position. "Should I go?" She asked me. I smiled at her. She smiled back and got up. Hospital staff transferred him to the room and everyone went with them. While I noticed Aisha feeling cold air over there. She shivered in cold. I held her hand when she was about to walk with others. When others were gone I pulled her. And placed the jacket over her shoulder. "Wear it. And change into something thick when you go there. Take care of yourself and Marie too. Evan would be still sleeping.  Workers will take care of him. And Aisha. Thanks. Thank you very much." I said. And pulled her in a hug when I was done with wearing her a jacket. And gave her the warmth she needed.
