Chapter 929
When His Eyes Opened
Elliot pursed his lips tightly. Averyâs voice made him slowly come to his senses. He let his hand go and
Hayden immediately ran upstairs!
Avery did not let go of Elliotâs arm. âElliot, what were you doing! You said you wouldnât force the children!
What were you doing there then?â
Elliot swallowed his saliva. His voice was hoarse. He enunciated, âI-I only wanted to apologize to him.â
âThe way youâre doing it is not right. He is a child, not an adult. You were too forceful.â Avery pulled him
along and pressed him down on the sofa. âElliot, you were badly affected by your family. The trauma is
still there now. Why did you think Hayden would reconcile with you so quickly?â
Elliot lifted his head and looked at her closely. âIâm not blaming you.â Avery inhaled rather helplessly.
âDonât be so impulsive in the future. You made Robert cry. Layla was surely frightened too.â âIâm sorry.â
Elliot looked in the direction of the children, self-reproaching.
Mrs. Cooper was carrying Robert. Robert was no longer crying. Layla was standing behind her with her
homework in her hands. She snuck glances at the living area. She did not dare to head over there.
âAvery, I bought presents for the children. Iâll pass it to you to give it to them.â Elliot had already calmed
down. He acknowledged his problem. âIâm afraid they wouldnât want it if I were to give it to them.â
Avery said, âWeâll talk about this tomorrow! Have you calmed down?â
âHmm.â
âDid you drive or did the driver drop you off?â Avery wanted him to leave.
âI drove here.â Elliot understood what she meant. He immediately got up from his sofa. He took two steps
before suddenly thinking of a question. He stopped in his tracks. âWhat were you doing in Bridgedale?
Youâre back so quickly. Itâs like you took two flightsed consecutively.â
âJust think of it as if I was bored!â Avery was not in the mood to tell him about Adrian. âIâm adjusting to the
time difference. Iâm a little tired.â
âHmm, go be with these children.â
âI donât need you to tell me.â
Avery sent him to the door. After he left, she returned to the living area. Mrs. Cooper carried Robert over
with an apologetic expression. âAvery, Iâm94 sorry!â âYou donât have to apologize to me. I knew that he
wanted to come over. Itâs not that you
invited him,â Avery said and looked at Robert. âBabe, did he scare you? Donât be afraid. No one will dare
to bully you.â
Robert pouted his lips, blowing18 bubbles.
His comical look made Avery forget all about her exhaustion. She perked herself up and walked over to
Layla. She took Laylaâs homework and glanced through it. âLayla, donât be afraid. Daddy wonât hurtd3
you.â âMommy, I am a little scared. Although I know that he wonât hurt me, Iâm still scared.â Layla looked
at Avery worryingly. âHayden was so angry. Iâm feeling bad for him.â
Avery hugged Layla in her arms. âThe issue between your Daddy and Hayden is a little complicated.
They would not come to terms with each other for the time being but donât be afraid. Daddy has
promised me that this would not happench again.â
âHmm, Mommy, go and see Hayden,â Layla said understandingly. Avery placed Laylaâs homework down.
âIâll look at your homework later.â âHmm.â
Avery walked upstairs and entered Haydenâs room. She saw Hayden sitting on a chair, frowning, and
looking at the computer seriously in a daze. She walked over to Hayden and bent down. âHayden, Iâm
sorry that I canât give you a good environment to grow up in.â âIt has nothing to do with you.â Haydenâs
voice sounded depressed. âI donât want to see him.â
âThen, I wonât let him come to our house again in the future,â Avery promised, âBut he really wants to
attend yourâs and Laylaâs birthday party. I promised him before that he could attend. Can we let him
attend? Iâll look out for him and make sure he wonât come close to you.â Hayden responded and held
Averyâs hand. âMommy, Iâm hungry.â
