Chapter 865
When His Eyes Opened
Tammy: [I donât blame Elliot, Avery. What happened to me had nothing to do with him. Besides, he
wouldnât have been able to retrieve his bargaining chip if it werenât for Chelseaâs help this time. I can
understand that.]
Avery: [Sometimes, being too understanding makes it easier for you to be wronged.]
Tammy: [Do you know why Iâve come around? Itâs not that Iâm that forgiving, but itâs because Chelseaâs
now disfigured. Her face will never recover. She has to spend the rest of her life with that hideous face.
If I became like that, Iâm afraid I wouldnât be able to live for another second longer. She wonât be any
better off than we were before.]
Avery: [He who is unjust is doomed to destruction.]
Tammy: [Thatâs right! Ben texted me just now and told me I must attend Junâs wedding. What do you
think he meant by that?]
Avery: [Do you want to go? Go if you do, donât go if you donât. Donât get influenced by him.]
Tammy: [I wanted to go at first, but I got so mad today that I donât feel like going anymore.]
Avery: [Donât make a decision yet, then. Think about it again once youâve calmed down.]
Tammy: [Okay. When are you coming back, Avery? Hayden and Layla need to go back to school soon,
right?]
Avery: [Yeah, Iâll decide after checking on the patientâs post-op recovery. Iâll get Mike to take the kids
back first. We canât affect their studies.] Tammy: [Let me know once youâve decided when to come
back, then.]
Avery: [I will.]
Avery put her phone down, then reached up and rubbed her tired eyes.
âWho were you texting? Whatâs with that stern look on your face?â Mike teased.
âIt was Tammy. Who else do you think it could be?â Avery shut her eyes, then leaned back on the seat
and rested.
âI see. Has Elliot contacted you yet?â Mike asked noisily.
âHe didnât really betray you this time, right? He didnât marry Chelsea, but he was being threatened
instead. You know the reason behind it,ed tooâ¦â
âWho told you to stand up for him?â Avery opened her eyes and glared at him.
âArenât I just speaking the truth?â Mike shrugged.
âI swear nobody told me to stand up for him. I just thought about things from his point of view. Someone
as proud as him definitely wouldnât be able to accept their private matters being exposed.â
âYouâre right,â Avery said agreeably.
âHe would rather hurt me and the children just to maintain his reputation. Of course, there was nothing
wrong with what he did from his point of view.â
Mike smacked himself on the lips, then said, âI better not talk about him. The more I do, the more you
hate him.â
âMy hatred for him is constant and wonât be affected by external factors,â Avery said fairly.
âGot it. Get some rest. Iâll wake you when we get home.â
That evening in Aryadelle, Ben arrived at the Foster mansion and brought with him the news of Charlie
Tierneyâs death.
âI didnât expect Chelsea to become this ruthless, Elliot.â Ben opened up a bottle of wine, then poured
himself a glass and took a sip.
âCharlie was begging on his knees, but she didnât waver at all. I suddenly find her quite scary.â
âSheâs not the scary one.â Elliotâs Adamâs apple bobbed in his throat. Then, he said chillingly, âI was the
one who told her that, between her and her brother, only one could live.â
