Chapter 618
When His Eyes Opened
Mike looked at Avery and asked, âDo you want to go talk to him?â
Avery seemed to have not heard him.
Her gaze was looking out of the window. It was as if her soul had been sucked away by that man.
Mike stopped the car and said louder, âAvery, go and talk to him.â
Avery came to her senses. She pushed the car door open and got out of the car. When she was in the
car, it was air-conditioned, so she did not feel the heat outside. The moment she got out of the car a
wave of heat washed over her. Her forehead soon started to sweat.
She looked at Elliotâs face, which had been burned red by the sun. His forehead was sweaty. His shirt
was soaked through by sweat, sticking to his skin.
She could not imagine how long he had been under this hot son.
âMiss Tate, youâre finally back. If you still donât return, Mr. Fosterâs life will probably end here today,â
Elliotâs bodyguard said unhappily, âWe have been here since eight this morning! Weâve waited until
now!â
Avery was upset. Her body was trembling a little.
At the thought of him foolishly waiting under the sun for her the entire day, she could not control her
anger. She said, âElliot, Iâm not home. Canât you see?â
âYouâre not picking up my phone. Did you miss it? What if youâre at home and you just donât want to see
me?â His voice turned hoarse because of the lack of water.
Averyâs eyes instantly reddened.
She only did not pick up his phone call the night before. If he were to call her that day, perhaps she
might have picked up?
âWhy are you here?â Avery forced back the tears in her eyes. She choked and said, âIs it because of
Layla being in an entertainment program? Sheâs back. Whatever you want to say, you can say to her!â
It was easy of Avery to say that, but how could her children possibly listen to him?
âLaylaâs still young. Why does she want to earn money? Itâs because she knows that you owe me
money, right?â Elliotâs cold voice rang out.
âYou put this pressure, which should not be borne by children, on your child. Might I ask if youâre a
competent mother?â
Avery choked on her words by Elliotâs questions.
Layla indeed participated in an entertainment program to earn some money. Her goal was just what
Elliot said, to help Avery pay back her debt.
Elliot, the person who has no right to talk about me in this entire world is you!â Avery wiped way the
tears from the corner of her eyes.
âYou donât need to care about Laylaâs affairs!â
âAvery, I will not give in to you all the time!â He looked at Avery with a sharp gaze. His tone was rather
harsh.
âTake this card! This is for giving birth to our child! Take it to pay your debts! I donât want to see Layla
going to the entertainment world! Also, donât let me see you taking on private engagements behind my
back! Before you give birth to the child, donât think you can escape my control!â
Elliot stuffed a bank card into Averyâs hands and left as quickly as he came, disappearing before her
eyes.
Avery held onto his card tightly. She secretly mocked. Did he just give her money to repay her debt to
him?
Only Elliot would be able to think of things like this! Not only think, but he would also do such things.
Avery felt as if all of her energy had been depleted. She went back to the living area listlessly.
Mike passed her a cup of water.
âAvery, did he give you this card?â When Mike passed her the cup of water, he took over the card in her
hands.
Avery picked up the card and drank some water.
âI think thereâs an ATM in our neighborhood.â Mike had an excited expression.
âWhy donât I go and check how much money is there on this card?â
Avery could roughly guess the amount, but she said nothing.
âUncle Mike, take me along! I want to have a look too!â Layla tugged on Mikeâs clothes.
Mike lifted Layla. When he was by the door only, he remembered to ask Avery, âWhy is he giving you
money?â
Avery placed her cup down and got up from the sofa. âYou ask him.â
