Chapter 3174
When His Eyes Opened
Hazelâs eyes were red. She said, âBrother, Lucasâs mother passed away. I canât play with you these
days. Itâs gone.â
Hayden: âItâs okay. Something like this happened at his house, and we are not in the mood to play.
After attending his motherâs funeral, your sister-in-law and I will go back.â
Hazel nodded.
âHow are funerals done here?â Hayden asked.
Hayden was Hazelâs eldest brother, and Lucas was Hazelâs boyfriend, and he was the same age as
Hazel. Hayden felt that he had an obligation to help Lucasâs mother handle the funeral.
Hazel: âItâs almost the same as in Aryadelle. Rich people can have a very grand ceremony; people with
little money can just do it casually; and poorer people donât need to have a ceremony and just find a
place to bury them.â
Hayden: âWhat should I do if I want to make the funeral more grand?â
Hazel: âBrother, do you want to help his mother with the funeral? He has no relatives, so he doesnât
need to make it grand.â
Hayden: âOh. Then you go and discuss it with him. Letâs wait and see what to do. Iâll help if I can!â
Hazel: âThank you, brother. But I donât think he needs your help in this matter. It doesnât cost much to
hold a funeral, so he probably wonât be willing to accept our money. His motherâs funeral will cost
money.â
Hayden: âOkay! Then you go and accompany him!â
Hazel: âBrother, then you and your sister-in-lawâ¦â
âYou donât have to worry about us. Iâll be there with your sister-in-law. Take a walk outside; call me if
anything happens.â Hayden said.
âOkay, brother.â
Hazel returned to the ward.
Hayden and Joanna left the hospital building.
Mr. Hogan was standing downstairs in the hospital building. When he saw Hayden and Joanna coming
out, he immediately greeted them with a smile.
âMr. Tate, my son has a deep misunderstanding of me, and even Hazel doesnât like me. In fact, I am
really good to Hazel.â Mr. Hogan said honestly, âHazel has been in our house for a long time. She
started working. At that time, her mother-in-law was working as a handyman in our kitchen. Our family
was really good with the servants. Her mother-in-law had been working in our family for several years.
Hazel would come to our house every day when she came back from school. She had a very ugly scar
on her face when she was young, but our family never disliked her.â
Hayden softened a little after hearing what Mr. Hogan said.
If what Mr. Hogan said is true, then the Hogan familyâs sin is not unforgivable.
At least they gave Hazel a way to survive.
When Mr. Hogan saw that Hayden hadnât left, he didnât change his face and continued: âAfter Hazelâs
mother-in-law passed away, Hazel immediately had no source of income. Our family felt that Hazel was
pitiful, so we let Hazel continue to work in our house. Every day she has been paid on time every
month and has never been in arrears with her wages.â
Hayden: âI know these things. The problem now is that Lucas doesnât associate with you, not that
Hazel has a grudge against you.â
Mr. Hogan said, âI know. I do owe Lucas a lot. I was absent from his life when he was a child. I took him
back to me when he was about to enter college. But after I took him back to my side, I almost ignored
him. I spent millions to support him when he went to college, so Iâm not mean to him!â
Hayden: âItâs better if you tell him these words.â
Mr. Hogan looked embarrassed and said, âHe doesnât listen to me. No matter what I do, he is not
satisfied. But I am always his father, and I canât completely ignore him. I wonder if I can talk to you
about him and Hazel?â
