Chapter 2782
When His Eyes Opened
"What about you?â Mike looked at Elliot, âYou have a gastric ulcer. Your wife ought to feel bad for you if
you donât eat when you eventually get sick.â
When Mike said this, Layla immediately looked at them.
âLetâs eat!â Layla was afraid that if she didnât eat, the others would follow suit.
She was still young, so itâs acceptable to experience temporary hunger, but Ericâs parents were also
ageing and her father had a gastric ulcer.
After a brief lunch, everyone continued to wait outside the operating room.
âTake it easy, the operation will definitely be fine.â Mike leaned against the window, seeing them all
looking solemn and depressed, so he advised them, âThis is Bridgedaleâs top private hospital, and the
surgeon is from Bridgedale, the most skilled heart surgeon. Bridgedaleâs medical level is world-class. Is
it possible that this operation will fail?â
Layla heard this and interrupted him: âUncle Mike, my mother always said you have a crowâs mouth.â
Mike: â???â
Layla: âSo donât talk about it. The more you talk about it, the more nervous I get.â
Mike scratched his head in embarrassment: âOkay, I donât say it. But your mother told me that it was a
long time ago, how do you still remember?â
Layla: âI donât have amnesia. I may not remember things before I was five years old, but I still have
memories of things after I was a little older. You used to have a crowâs mouth, and my mother always
said you.â
Mike : âIâm not a crowâs mouth anymore.â
Layla: âThen donât say it. If you have to talk, then say something else.â
Mike put his arms around his chest and his chin in the other. After thinking for a while, he asked : âAfter
his surgery, will you go back to Aryadelle or stay in Bridgedale?â
âI canât go back to Aryadelle. Iâll stay here first after his surgery. Iâll wait to see how he recovers before
returning to Aryadelle.â Layla replied without thinking.
âSo you havenât been working for a while?â Mike asked.
âI can work from home. I know that I am the boss of the Tate Industries now, so you donât need to
remind me.â Layla said. She had been under a lot of pressure recently.
On the one hand, she was worried about Ericâs surgery, and on the other hand, she had to find time to
deal with the companyâs affairs.
Even if she was not employed by the company, the heads of all departments would report to her.
âArenât you worried that you are too tired?â Mike looked distressed.
Layla: âIâm not tired. As long as the operation is successful, I wonât be tired no matter how busy I am.â
An hour later, the operating roomâs overhead lights suddenly stopped.
The surgery was over.
After a while, the door of the operating room opened slowly, and Eric was transferred to the intensive
care unit for monitoring and treatment.
Layla only glanced at Eric hastily.
Eric was in a coma, breathing oxygen, had a pale face, closed eyes, and was lying on a hospital bed.
He had to remain in the intensive care unit without any visitors until he woke up.
Fortunately, heart transplant surgery usually woke up within 24 hours. This time, he wonât be in
intensive care for long.
When Elliot saw Avery coming out, he immediately stepped forward.
âThe operation goes well.â Averyâs heart sank, âHe ought to be able to wake up at the latest tomorrow,
barring any mishaps.â
Everyone heaved a sigh of relief.
âHoney, youâve worked hard. Iâll take you to dinner.â Elliot held Averyâs hand, knowing that she must be
very hungry now.
