Chapter 2696
When His Eyes Opened
Maggie curiously asked: âYou asked Eric, how did he answer you?â
âHe told me I shouldnât worry about his business.â Layla felt that Eric didnât answer directly because he
didnât want to tell the truth and didnât want to lie.
âOh. What do you think about the relationship between me and him?â Maggie wanted to hear Laylaâs
thoughts. She felt that Layla probably guessed it, so she made this special trip.
âI donât think you two are in a relationship. If you two are really in a relationship, itâs impossible for him
not to tell me before he made an official announcement. Miss Maggie, before I confessed to him, I
asked him if he had a girlfriend. I-I only confessed to him on the premise of confirming that he has no
dating partner.â Layla said her analysis.
âOhâ¦thatâs indeed a bit of a flaw!â Maggie laughed.
âMiss Maggie, what do you mean?â Layla was confused, âAre you admitting that the two of you are not
really talking? He asked you to help play his girlfriend?â
âLayla, if you got an affirmative answer, what do you want to do?â Maggie asked curiously, âAs far as I
know, your parents probably wonât accept Eric. If you insist on doing what you want, you will make Eric
very uncomfortable.â
âI will solve the problem by myself, and I will not let Eric face my parents alone.â Layla said firmly, âMiss
Maggie, can you answer my question first?â
Maggieâs face turned pale for a while.
Itâs too late to call or send a message to Eric to ask what to do now.
Layla came here specially to block her answer.
Maggie: âItâs exactly what you think. I like Eric very much, but he doesnât like me. To be more precise,
he regards me as a good friend. So he asked me to do this.â
Layla got this answer, and it didnât take long. Unexpectedly, but with reproach: âIsnât he afraid of
delaying your search for a partner? He came up with such a bad idea.â
âIâm not in a hurry to get married.â Maggie smiled, âAt my age, Iâm not in a hurry anymore. If I can meet
the right person, I will get married. If I canât meet the right person, I will live on my own.â
Layla: âThen you two are a bit similar. I donât think he is in a hurry.â
Maggie: âBecause he doesnât want to settle down.â
âMiss Maggie, thank you for telling me so frankly.â Layla said gratefully, âWill he blame you if he
knows?â
Maggie shook her head: âNo way. Even if I didnât tell you, wouldnât you have guessed it?â
Layla: âWell. I guessed it a long time ago. He canât hide it from me.â
Soon, the two walked to the coffee shop.
âMiss Maggie, let me buy coffee!â
Maggie: âOkay! If you can convince your parents, I will still congratulate you.â
âItâs very difficult.â Layla didnât dare to be 100% sure, âBut I still want to try my best. I canât give up.â
Maggie: âIt seems really hard.â
Layla: âIsnât there a saying that ânothing is difficult in this world, as long as you are willing to give up'â
âIt makes sense. I also want to learn this spirit.â Maggie said.
âMiss Maggie, you are so good, there are many men chasing you, right?â
Maggie: âYes! I fell in love with Eric at first sight. When we were on a blind date, because of some
misunderstandings, he didnât see me, but I saw him. Heâs so dazzling! After Iâve seen him, itâs hard to
catch my eye when I look at other men.â
Layla: âYeah.â
âHave you ever been in love?â Maggie asked.
Layla shook her head.
âItâs really rare. It stands to reason that there should be more and better suitors around you, but you
have never been in a relationship.â Maggie sighed.
Layla: âThe reason is very simple. I like mature men, but the people around me are basically people of
the same age.â
After drinking coffee, Layla and Maggie returned to Mikeâs residence, and then began to buy air tickets
back home.
Mike: âCanât you stay with me for one more day? Itâs hard to come here, and youâre going to leave
without sleeping?â
Mike wanted to stay with Layla.
