Chapter 2564
When His Eyes Opened
âAvery, you are always too soft-hearted.â Ever since Elliot knew that Layla was going to seek marriage,
he had been anxious all day long.
He was supposed to go to work at the company today, but he didnât. He went to the company and was
not in the mood to work. Itâs better to stay at home and see what happened after the news of the
marriage announcement was released.
âItâs not that Iâm soft-hearted, itâs that you think this matter is too important. It seems that Layla can
really find the right man through this marriage proposal.â Avery took a longan from the fruit plate,
peeled the shell at a leisurely pace, and let it go into the mouth.
Elliot saw Avery eating longan, so he also reached into the fruit plate, ready to take longan.
âDonât eat it, you are already on fire, and eating it will add to the fire.â Avery brought him a pear, âYou
eat pears.â
Elliot: ââ¦â
âLayla also said that this time, she just wanted to get to know more people of the opposite s-e-x. She
didnât say that she must find a man to marry. Husband, take it easy.â Avery continued to comfort,
âMaybe after she met many people of the opposite s-e-x, she finally found out that she didnât feel
anything, and she still like Eric more in her heartâ¦â
Elliot: âHoney, can you stop irritating me?â
âYou have to prepare for the worst! Many things are not what we think. Things like feelings are the most
uncontrollable. When I first fell in love with you and quarreled, I really wanted it many times. I made up
my mind to make a clean break with you, and finally returned to the original point by accident. Layla is
my daughter, maybe she is the same as me, and if she finds someone right, she will be determined to
the end?â
Elliot held the pear with a look of lovelessness on his face.
âHusband, donât be sad. Itâs good for us to live our lives well. Our children and grandchildren have their
own blessings. We can take care of them now, and when weâre gone, we canât take care of them. Itâs
better to learn to let go now⦠â
âI canât let go. As long as I havenât closed my eyes, I canât let it go.â Elliot picked up the fruit knife and
peeled the pear.
Avery didnât want to provoke Elliot, but she was also afraid that things would develop as he imagined
and that he wouldnât be able to bear it, so she was vaccinated in advance.
âIf your daughter is really determined, itâs useless for you to care about it. Instead of breaking up your
relationship of the father and daughter, itâs better to let Hayden take care of it.â Avery thought of a good
way for him, âHayden has taken care of Layla since he was a child, and his thoughts are the similar as
Yours, and you donât want Layla and Eric to be together. Itâs said that an elder brother is like a father, so
you have to trust Hayden.â
Elliot finished peeling the pear and handed the pear to Avery.
Avery took the pears.
âOkay! Letâs see how the marriage proposal is going to be. With Hayden in charge, Iâm more at ease.â
Elliot took another pear and began to peel it.
After Avery took a bite of the pear, the phone rang. She picked up the phone and glanced at it.
âEric called.â Avery put the pear on the table, took the phone, and was about to step aside to answer it.
âCanât you tell me?â Elliot looked at Avery, âHe must have called you about Laylaâs marriage
proposalâ¦â
âYou eat the pears first. Iâll tell you after Iâve finished.â Avery didnât want Elliot to hear the two of them
talking on the phone, but was afraid that Elliot would lose control of his emotions and start arguing with
Eric.
Avery took the phone and walked towards the second floor. When she was almost on the second floor,
she answered the phone.
âEric, Happy New Year.â As usual, Avery was not indifferent to Eric because of Laylaâs matter.
Elliot couldnât sit still anymore, so he immediately got up from the sofa and quietly moved towards the
stairs on the second floor.
Avery entered the master bedroom and closed the door.
âAvery, Happy New Year. I called you because I saw the news about Laylaâs marriage proposal.â After
Eric saw the news today, he was caught off guard and shocked.
