Chapter 1066
When His Eyes Opened
âHAYDEN! BE CAREFUL!â
Avery ran as fast as she could toward him.
Hayden stopped as soon as he saw the speeding truck, and the sound of screeching tires was heard as
the truck braked abruptly at a distance of less than half a meter away from Hayden.
Avery was so frightened that she burst into tears and ran over to hug him.
After hugging him, she wasted not a single second and carried him from the middle of the road to the
sidewalk.
âLetâs go home, okay?â Avery held his cold little hand tightly. âI know youâve been unfairly accused
because you got first place with your own efforts without having anything to do with your father.â
âI donât want a father like him!â Hayden frowned and shook Averyâs hand away. âIâm not going to go back
home!â
In Haydenâs eyes, Starry River Villa was the home of his mother and Elliot. He could not ask his mother
to break up with Elliot, so he did not want to go back to that house again!
âWhere do you want to go if youâre not going home? Tell me. Iâll go with you!â Averyâs eyes were wet and
she held his hand tightly.
She knew that he would run away again if she let go of his hand.
Not long after, a black Rolls-Roice parked just behind Avery and Hayden.
Elliot got out of the car and walked over to them.
The alarm bells in Averyâs mind began to ring when she saw Elliotâs arrival.
Hayden loathed him immensely, and it was sure to be an unpleasant endeavor if both father and son
encountered each other right then.
âI did invest money in your school because I wanted it to be in line with international standards,â Elliot
explained to Hayden. âI also told your teachers to take care of you, but I never asked them to give you
extra marks.â
Unfortunately, Elliotâs explanation merely added fuel to the fire.
âYou think youâre so great just because youâre filthy rich!â Hayden tensed up and looked at him angrily. âI
donât need you to worry about me! Youâre not my father! Iâm not your son either!â
Hayden could not accept Elliotâs presence in his school life EPJxxC;2 found it humiliating that the man
invested money in the school and told the teacher to take care of him!
Hayden did not want to live under Elliotâs halo.
He wanted to rely on his strength and ability to surpass his father!
âHayden, your father did that because he has his ways of wanting to treat you better.â Avery felt very
heartbroken when she saw how intense her sonâs emotions were..
âI donât want it! If you think heâs so good, you can live with him!â Hayden broke free from Avery and
walked away.
Elliot felt as if his heart had been slashed with a knife when he saw Avery crying.
He pulled Hayden back by force and put the boy down in front of Avery.
âHayden! You can hate me all you want, but you canât treat your mother like that.â Elliot reprimanded
sharply. âGo home with your mother. Iâll go back to my home and I wonât show myself to you until you
calm down!â
Elliot strode back to the car when he finished speaking.
Avery watched his car disappear into the distance before reaching out to wipe the tears from Haydenâs
face. âLetâs go home, Hayden!â
After they returned home, Mike immediately rushed over after hearing what happened.
Hayden locked himself in his room and refused to see anyone.
Mike frowned and put his hands on his hips. âHayden is a very proud boy. Does Elliot have nothing better
to do? Why did he insist on interfering with Haydenâs studies?â
Averyâs eyes tumed red and she said hoarsely, âYou might not understand this, but most of the parents in
Aryadelle are like that. They would help to pave their childrenâs future if it was within their ability. I used to
be so envious of other parents when they sent their children to the best schools and encouraged them to
join classes of the hobbies that they were interested in.â
âMakes sense. Hayden wouldnât be so angry if you did that, but he hates Elliot. When Elliot did that, he
felt violated,â Mike provided his take. âHe might not even participate in the competition.â
That was something that Avery was concerned about too.
âHe reallyâwanted to join the competition. It would be such a shame if he just gave it up.â
âIâll persuade him. Donât worry about it for now,â Mike said. âWhereâs Elliot though? How is he?â Avery
lowered her eyes and felt a sting in her heart. âHe wonât be coming around any time soon.
