Chapter 9
HOMOPHOBIC (JENLISA)
Third Person's POV
Jennie was so furious after the unexpected meet up with Kai, her ex-boyfriend. Their break-up wasn't that good, for her. She was sure that she already move on from her. It's been a year anyway since they last met. But seeing Kai again, made all the pain and anger go back.
"Out of all places, why here? Why now?" Jennie mumbled to herself.
Jennie's mind was so occupied of what happened earlier so that she forget about she's with someone.
Lisa on the other hand was confused about what happened. She was just following Jennie, not knowing how she should approach the latter.
"Jennie." Lisa called but got no response from the furious kitten.
"And out of all person that I can meet today, why him?" Jennie keeps on mumbling to herself.
"Jen." Lisa once again called.
"I'm pretty sure I'm over him. But I can never forget what he do to me."
"Kitten."
"That asshole." Jennie said and gritted her teeth as the memory of her and Kai slowly coming back.
"Jennie Kim." Lisa said calmly but loud enough for Jennie to be drifted away from her thoughts.
"WHAT?!"
Lisa was shocked, she never expected to be shouted by a fuming kitten. So as Jennie, her cat-eyes widened a little as she realized that she let out her anger at Lisa.
"Oh my God. I'm really sorry Lis." Jennie massaged her temples trying to calm herself.
Lisa saw how frustrated Jennie is. So she hurriedly went towards Jennie and turned the latter around to face her. She cupped her cheeks and slowly lift them up. Lisa can feel that Jennie flinch a little by her sudden action which made her let out a small smile.
"It's okay. Want to grab some ice cream? I'm pretty sure it can remove all of your frustrations." Lisa said.
"Only if it's your treat." Jennie said with a smirk.
"What?" Lisa let go of Jennie cheeks and stare at her with amusement.
"Please?"
Jennie clasped her hands and pouted which made Lisa's heart race. She can feel heat slowly forming at her cheeks. Lisa quickly divert her gaze away from Jennie, hoping that the girl didn't saw a thing.
"O-Okay. S-stop pouting. You're not cute." Lisa said and quickly walk ahead.
"But it works. I might do that always to get a free ice cream from you." Jennie said and wrapped her hands at Lisa's arms which made Lisa surprise.
The two went inside the convenience store where they first met. But the difference is, they're not fighting anymore for just a stupid ice cream because Lisa, gave Jennie that last piece of milk ice cream to Jennie and get a chocolate one for herself.
"Why there is always only one left when I'm going here with you?" Jennie said as they continue their walk towards her home.
"I don't know." Lisa replied.
"I'm feeling a little bit of guilt because you can't always have milk ice cream."
"Want to switch?" Lisa said and handed Jennie the ice cream that she's holding.
"No way!" Jennie replied and quickly put the ice cream away from Lisa. Lisa chuckled a bit.
"I like chocolate more anyway." Lisa said and stick out her tongue.
Jennie just rolled her eyes and continued on eating her ice cream. Her eyes lightened up when they passed by the park. She quickly turns into Lisa with sparkling eyes.
"What?" Lisa's eyebrows are furrowed, confused on why Jennie is acting that way.
"Can we go to the park? Please?"
Lisa just sigh and nodded in defeat knowing that she can't do anything. Jennie hurriedly run towards the swing acting like a happy kid. She took a seat at the swing and motioned Lisa to come over beside her.
"I'm having a hard time about saying no to this girl." Lisa said to herself.
Jennie was happily eating her ice cream while swaying her feet which failed to reach the ground because she is a small bean. Lisa notice it and let out a soft giggle.
"I guess this is your favorite place?" Lisa asked.
"How did you know?" Jennie replied.
"I saw how excited are you to go here or I'm just assuming things?"
"Silly. This is indeed my favorite place or more likely my safe place. I usually go here whenever I'm feeling down, lonely, or whenever I needed to breathe."
"I see. Anyway, who's that Kai guy?"
Jennie paused for a bit which made Lisa worried.
"You don't have to answer if you don't want. I'm just curious. I'm sorry." Lisa said.
"No it's okay. Kai is my asshole ex-boyfriend." Jennie replied.
"I can sense you're really mad at him. Mind telling me why?"
"He's a cheater. And he's gay."
"Oh..."
"He cheated with my best buddy, Kyungsoo. Imagine, I have no freaking idea that he will do that to me! I trusted him. He knows how much I hate cheaters and gays but they still do it."
"You can't tell your heart who to love. But yeah, he's an asshole for letting go a girl like you."
"What do you mean?"
"You're gorgeous. You have a good heart despite of you being a big hater of LGBT but you have reasons. Anyone can fall for you. Even me." Lisa gasped at what she said and quickly glanced at Jennie who is now giggling. She exhales sharply and was relieved that Jennie didn't take what she said seriously. The very last thing that she want right now is to chase a fuming kitten, again.
"You know what Lisa? If you're a guy, I would feel butterflies in my stomach right now. And Kai being gay was not the only reason why I hate them." Jennie replied.
No one dare to talk after that conversation. All you can hear was the sound of the wind. Lisa was left wondering what would be the other reasons of Jennie. She lift up her head and stare at the clouds which are now slowly turning into gray.
"I think it's going to rain soon." Lisa said.
"Oh shoot. You're right. Let's go!" Jennie said and pulled Lisa by her arm.
Lisa was feeling something weird as Jennie was holding her hand while they were running towards her house. And that weird feeling has been added when Jennie slowly turned around and gave her infamous gummy smile. Everything went on slow motion for Lisa as her eyes was stuck to the girl in front of her. She can hear how loud her heart is beating right now. She only came back to her senses when they reached the brunette's front door.
"Why don't you come inside and have some drink? I know you're tired from all of that running." Jennie offered. The blonde just nodded in response and slowly went inside.
"You live alone?" Lisa asked as she noticed that the house was silent.
"I live with my dad, but he's on a business meeting today so he might come home late. Here." Jennie replied and give Lisa a glass of water.
Lisa quickly finish the glass of water and carefully hand it back to Jennie whose jaw is drop as she saw what Lisa do.
"You're not that thirsty I presume." Jennie said with a smirk.
"I'm not. Anyway, are you fine being alone?" Lisa replied.
"Yeah. I am. You need to go before the rain falls, we can hang out tomorrow. It's weekend anyway." Jennie said.
Lisa nodded and gave Jennie a soft smile and wave goodbye. But as soon as Lisa stepped out the front door, the rain suddenly starts to fall hard. The thunder clapped and a voice of the girl screaming with fear follows.
"Jennie!" Lisa said and quickly went back inside only to find Jennie at the corner, hugging her knees tightly. Faint sobs can also be heard coming from her.
"Jennie." Lisa said softly.
Jennie slowly lift her head to face Lisa which made the heart of the latter's break into piece. Tears are streaming down her face and fear are evident to her eyes. Jennie quickly jumped towards Lisa and hug her tightly. Her body once again stiffen as another thunder echoed again.
"Ssshh. I'm here. There's nothing to be afraid of." Lisa said and brush her hand at Jennie's back.
"Can you please stay? I'm afraid of thunders." Jennie said between her sobs.
"Cute." Lisa thought.
"Hush now kitten. I'm not leaving." Lisa replied and guided Jennie towards the sofa.
"Won't your parents get mad?" Jennie said.
"I'll just text them. They won't let me go home in this kind of weather anyway. So, how about we watched some Disney for you to relax a bit? You like Disney don't you?" Lisa said with a genuine smile.
Just by hearing the word Disney makes Jennie smile. But that smile immediately turned into a frown when Lisa was about to leave the couch. Jennie tugged the hem of Lisa's shirt making the blonde confuse.
"I thought you're not leaving?" Jennie pouted.
Lisa softly chuckled and pinched the brunette cheeks lightly.
"I'm just going to get you a glass of water."
"No. Stay." Jennie demanded.
Lisa sighed and went back to her seat. Jennie turned on the television and scoot closer to Lisa.
The sound of thunder keeps on going which made Jennie feel anxious. Seeing the brunette at that state can't help but to make feel Lisa worried. She hesitantly wrapped her arms around Jennie's shoulder and pulled her closer to her.
Jennie let herself melted towards Lisa. Her fear of thunders lessen and her body slowly soften. She leaned her head towards Lisa's shoulder and close her eyes while the minty smell coming from the blonde lingers through her nose.
Few more minutes, Lisa felt Jennie became heavier. She took a glance on Jennie and saw how the brunette was peacefully sleeping. Her little snores made her smile. She remove some strands of the hair blocking Jennie's face. She stare at her angelic face with admiration screaming to her eyes. Lisa can hear her heart beating loudly again.
"I think I'm starting to bend." She whispered.
