Chapter 59

HOMOPHOBIC (JENLISA)

Third Person's POV

Lisa spent most of her time at the hospital after that painful confrontation she had with Jennie. It was her way to distance herself from the feline. Jennie on the other hand, has been emotionally drained for days. The break-up caused her to be devastated and knowing that it was mostly her fault, it only added to the pain that she's feeling every day. The feline can't count how many nights she spend crying. Jennie always woke up with her pillows soaked with her tears.

Lisa is currently alone with Rosé at the hospital room. Rosé's parents just left a while ago, they've been visiting her once a week since they still have to run their business back in Busan. Rosé's mom was very glad that her daughter found such nice friends.

Lisa is waiting for Jisoo so that they can switch places and she can attend some of her classes. It's always been their routine ever since the blonde was moved into a private room.

The tall girl walked closely towards the sleeping blonde. She took a chair and sat beside Rosé. The beeping of the machines are the only sound that she can hear. Lisa smiled softly and took Rosé's hand.

"I thought you're only going to sleep for five minutes?" Lisa said. She started to rub soothing circles at the back of the blonde's hand.

"It's been three months now." Lisa said before cupping Rosé's right cheek.

"Baby! I'm here!" Jisoo's loud voice echoed at the whole room making Lisa laugh.

"You might wake her up with that loud voice of yours." Lisa said.

Jisoo gave Rosé's other hand a kiss before standing proudly. A smirk was formed on her face as she face Lisa.

"That's what I'm really aiming for. Maybe I am the key to make her wake up." She said and put her hands on her waist.

"Maybe that's why Rosé's not waking up. She doesn't want to hear your annoying voice." Lisa backfired.

Jisoo gasped loudly. "How could you?" She said and was about to smack her but Lisa quickly used her arms as a shield.

"You should go now, you'll be late." Jisoo said, trying to shoo the latter away.

Lisa just nodded and leaned towards Rosé and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Wake up now, chipmunk." Lisa whispered before waving goodbye towards Jisoo.

When Lisa was about to exit the room, she accidentally bumped into Jennie who had just arrived. Jennie's class ended quickly so she decided to go straight to the hospital.

As usual, Lisa gave the feline a cold shoulder which Jennie at least expected. Her eyes followed the tall girl and sigh of regret came out from her mouth as she slowly disappeared from her sight.

"Things are still not okay with Lisa?" Jisoo asked when she noticed how sad the feline is.

"I haven't talked to her again, yet. Well, I don't have the guts." Jennie said and take a seat at the chair where Lisa sat before.

Jisoo knew what happened between the two of them. In fact, she saw Jennie crying at the front of Lisa's room, the day that the confrontation happened. Jisoo saw how Jennie was being broken everyday but that didn't stop her for scolding the feline.

"Give her some time to heal." Jisoo said and divert her eyes towards her girlfriend that is peacefully sleeping. "Her wounds are pretty deep." She added.

"I know, but I'm scared. What if she would totally forget her feelings about me during the process?" Jennie said, her eyes mirrored fear.

"Then accept the fact that you and Lisa are not really meant for each other." Jisoo said casually.

"That's easy for you to say." Jennie answered. She can't imagine what she's going to do if that happen.

"Look Jennie, you had your chance. Twice to be exact. But you ruined all of it. It's just a matter of luck if Lisa will give you another one." Jisoo said casually.

Jennie let out a groan as she realized that the short hair girl was only stating the facts. She rested her head at the top of Rosé's head and repeatedly sighed in defeat. If only she didn't deny what she truly feels, if she only wasn't so selfish, then maybe she wouldn't be living a life full of regrets.

"Oh!" Jennie shouted in surprise which earned Jisoo's attention.

"What? You realized every mistakes you made?" Jisoo said.

Jennie didn't answer because she was still in shock. Her mouth is wide open as her fingers pointed towards Rosé's hand. Jisoo followed where Jennie was looking that made her eyebrows creased.

"Hey! What is it?" Jisoo called the feline once again.

Jennie lifted up her head and look at Jisoo with wide eyes. Jisoo gave her a deadly glare that serves as a last warning for her. Jennie gulped a lump that formed in her throat.

"I felt Rosé's finger moved!" Jennie said.

Jisoo tilted her head out of confusion.

"Are you sure that you felt it move? Because I've been holding her other hand for the entire time and I didn't felt anything."

"I'm sure! Why would I even lie to you?" Jennie said and rolled her eyes.

"Ye-"

"What?' Jennie asked when she noticed that Jisoo has frozen on her spot. Jisoo look at her and an excited smile slowly curled up upon her lips. Jisoo rushed towards the side of the feline and held both of her shoulders by surprise.

"Her eyes Jennie!" Jisoo said excitedly. "I saw her eyes move!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.

Jennie blinked for a few times before diverting her attention towards the blonde. She almost fell down on her butt when she witnessed the blonde's eyes slowly flutter open.

--

"Another day with this boring professor." Lisa thought.

Her chin rested on her elbows as she pretend to pay attention for whatever her professor was saying. Lisa regretted that she went into this class, for her, it is much enjoyable to talk to Rosé even though she's not responding rather than sitting here for hours.

To lessen her boredom, she secretly took out her phone and started playing some mobile games. Of course, she made sure that her phone is in silent and the volume is down. The last thing she wants is for her to be caught.

Lisa was at the middle of her game when a notification suddenly popped out saying that she got a message from Jisoo. She silently cursed her friend because that was the reason that got her defeated.

That leaves the tall girl without a choice but to open the message. She instantly regret that she didn't opened it in an instant. Lisa quickly took her bag and rushed her way towards the door.

"Where are you going Ms. Manoban? We're still in the middle of the class." Her professor angrily said.

"I'm sorry sir but my friend finally woke up." Lisa said in an excited manner earning a confused look from her classmates and her professor as well. She bowed as a sign of respect and continue dashing her way out.

Lisa didn't waste any time and quickly hail a taxi instead of going home and getting her car. She can't contain her smile knowing that her best buddy finally woke up. She even stumble into a few nurses when she arrived at the hospital. Lisa can't really hide her excitement.

"Chipmunk!" Lisa shouted as soon as she slid the door of the blonde's room open.

Her pupils dilated as she saw Rosé sitting at the hospital bed while talking with Jisoo and Jennie. It's true. Rosé has finally woke up.

"Monkey!" Rosé shouted back in a cheerful manner. She's very energetic for a person who just woke up in three months of coma.

Lisa gulped as she suppressed her tears from falling down but it failed when she gave Rosé a one tight hug. She finally can feel that Rosé was hugging her back for real.

"You're such a cry baby." Rosé said as she rubbed Lisa's back.

"That's what I always say to her. She can't stop crying as she watch you over." Jisoo interrupted.

Lisa let go of the blonde and wiped off her tears. "And you're such a heavy sleeper." She said.

"Well, I had a good dream." Rosé answered.

"I bet it's all about food?" Lisa said and Rosé happily nodded.

The blonde immediately noticed that there's something odd going on. She may be asleep for months but her observing skills is still sharp as a knife.

"Is there something I missed?" Rosé asked.

Lisa and Jennie shifted on their places. Both of them knew that they can't escape Rosé's observant eye. Jisoo gave her girlfriend a toothy grin knowing that Jennie would probably get another scolding again and who knows, Lisa might get one too.

"There's a lot of things that you missed baby." Jisoo said and gave Rosé a knowing look which the latter quickly understand. Rosé shifted her gaze towards Lisa who is biting her lower lip out of nervousness.

--

"Oh. You're alone?" Lisa said. She put her back pack on the floor and pulled up a chair so that she can sit beside Rosé.

"Yup. Jisoo have classes and so as Jennie. I'm starting to miss going to school." Rosé said.

"It's been a week since you woke up, when will you get out of here?" Lisa asked.

"The doctor said that I need another day or two."

"Can you walk already?"

"Yes. My therapist was surprise that I can walk in just a matter of weeks. Well, I was just sleeping for three months not a whole fucking year." The blonde said and rolled her eyes playfully which made Lisa chuckle. "Don't you have class?" Rosé asked.

Lisa scratched her nape in an awkward manner signed that she did something that is not good. The blonde narrowed her eyes towards her.

"You cut classes again?" Rosé said in a low voice.

"Just let this one slide please. Here, I even bought you some green peppers." Lisa said with a toothy grin.

"You really knew how to get me." The blonde said before grabbing the bag of her favorite food from Lisa's hand.

Silence fills the entire atmosphere and only the blonde's munching of green peppers can be heard. Lisa took a couple of deep breathes and rub her palms together.

"Jisoo told me everything." Rosé started which made Lisa's breathe hitched.

The blonde set aside her beloved green peppers before facing Lisa.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

Lisa let out a small tight smile and shook her head lightly. Of course she's not okay. What Jennie did to her really hurts.

"How fool am I to ask you such thing. Of course you aren't okay. Do you experience some nightmares again?" Rosé asked. Her eyes shows how worried she if for Lisa. The tall girl smile and shook her head slightly making Rosé breathed in relief.

"So, what's your plan now?" Rosé asked again.

Lisa pursed her lips together, contemplating if she's going to tell the blonde what she's planning to do.

"I'm planning to leave the country." Lisa finally said.

Rosé rolled her eyes and said, "Here we go again."

"Chipmunk, I need to do this. I can't fully heal when I'm still seeing Jennie every day. I'll only added the pain." Lisa explained.

"Do you still love her?" The blonde asked. Lisa just nodded. "Then why did you broke up with her instead of fixing your problems together?" She added.

"Sometimes love isn't enough to continue a relationship.' Lisa said and smile weakly. Rosé saw how much pain Lisa is feeling right now.

"Yeah. You got a point. If that's what will make you feel better, then I'm not stopping you."

"Thank you. I know you would understand me."

"Always Lisa. Anyway, when will you leave?"

"The day after tomorrow."

"That fast?"

"Yes. I can't wait any longer."

"Did Jennie knew about this?"

"No. She doesn't have any idea."

"You should tell her."

"But-"

"No buts Lisa. Look, you're not the only one hurting here. Consider Jennie's feelings also. Even though she became selfish, we both know how much Jennie loves you." Rosé said before holding Lisa's hand and looked her into the eye. "She deserves to know Lisa. It's not fair if you're going to leave her hanging."

And as if on cue, Jennie and Jisoo came. Jisoo rushed towards her girlfriend and gave her a kiss while Jennie took a seat at the couch which is just few meters away from the tall girl.

"How's my baby?" Jisoo asked the blonde.

"I'm hungry." Rosé said in a cute voice and pouted.

"I'll go and buy some food." Jennie said as an excuse to escape herself from an awkward situation.

The feline was about to leave when Rosé shouted all of a sudden.

"Lisa's going with you!" She said wearing a wide smile on her angelic face.

Lisa's eyes widened in surprise at what the blonde said. She looked at Rosé with a confused looked and mouthed a "me?" to her. Rosé just sent Lisa a 'this-is-now-your-chance-to-tell-her' look. Lisa let out a defeated sigh.

"No need. I can do this alone." Jennie said, she know how much Lisa hated to be with her right now. But Lisa suddenly walked outside of the room, leaving Jennie in a frozen state. She thought Lisa got annoyed that's why she left but after a few seconds, Lisa came back and stood at the door.

"Aren't you coming?" Lisa said and stare at Jennie blankly.

Jennie hesitated for a moment if she's going to come with Lisa or not. But when she heard a fake cough coming from her, she instantly move her feet towards Lisa. They even heard Rosé whispering a "yes" before they left.

--

Jennie immediately regret because she volunteered on buying their damn food. She kept on taking some deep breathes because she feel suffocated because of the awkwardness that she's encountering right now. Even their ride back at the hospital were silent and it added more to her pain knowing that Lisa really doesn't want to talk to her anymore, she even didn't utter a single word.

As soon as the car stop, the feline hurriedly opened the door, wanting to have her alone time so that she can let go of the emotions that she's been holding for hours. But she was stopped with a warm hand holding her wrist.

Jennie stare at Lisa's hand for a moment. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she lifted her head upwards only to meet Lisa's eyes that showing unexplainable emotions.

"C-can we talk?" Lisa said. Jennie's heart flutter, this is the first time that Lisa talk to her after their fight.

Jennie slowly nodded in an agreement and closed the car door that has been opened slightly. Lisa let go of Jennie's wrist which made the feline instantly long for her warmth. There was a few minutes of silence before Lisa decided to start talking.

"I'm sorry." Lisa started which surprised the feline.

"What? I should be the one apologizing Lisa. I was the one who made a mistake." Jennie said.

"You already apologized. It's my turn now. I know you had your reasons but I chose to not listen to your explanations."

"I know you're angry and I understand that. Besides, what I did is really horrible. I'm sorry again, Lisa."

"You know I can't stay mad at you for too long." Lisa said which made Jennie's hopes lift up. "But the pain is still here." Lisa added.

Jennie fell quiet, she thought that the luck was totally on her side and Lisa will be giving her another chance.

"I'm leaving." Lisa blurted.

Jennie faced Lisa with wide eyes as tears started to form at the corner of it.

"W-What? W-why?" Jennie said, her voice almost cracked.

"I need time to heal. And I can't do that here, where I can see you every day."

"But what about us? What will happen to us?"

Lisa faced Jennie and held the feline's hand which is now trembling in fear.

"Jennie, we can't gave 'us' another chance if both of us are fucked up. I need time to recover from the pain that you caused me. And you, you need time to be braver. You need time to discover what you really want, if you really want me to be a part of your life."

"I really do want you to be part of my life Lisa. You know how much I love you." Jennie said. Tears are now starting to fall down into her eyes.

"I know. But your actions shows the opposite. We need to fix ourselves first Jennie."

"Is there any chance for us?"

"If I ever see you again, ready or not, I'll make you my wife."

"I'll be waiting for you then, Lisa."

"No. Don't wait for me Jennie. If there's someone out there that is much better than me, if that someone will make you happier than what I did, then choose someone. You deserve so much happiness in life Jennie."

"There's nothing that's better than you Lisa." Jennie said between her sobs.

"I'm sure there is."

"What about you? Are you going to forget about me when you leave?"

"You know I can't easily forget you right? If the time comes that we'll see each other again, and you found your happiness to someone else, that will be the only time that I'll finally forget about my feelings for you." Lisa said.

Both of them are now a crying mess. Lisa cupped Jennie's cheeks and made the feline looked at her. She saw the pain and regret mirroring at those cat-eyes that she loves the most. As much as she wanted to take Jennie with her, she knew that it will only destroy the both of them if they continue what they have.

"All I want for you is to be happy, Jennie. Even if I'm not the reason anymore." Lisa let out a painful smile and wiped away the feline's tears. "Just remember that I love you, Nini. I love you so much even if it hurts." Lisa said before planting a kiss at Jennie's forehead.

Jennie's sobs grew louder as she felt Lisa's warm pair of lips touches her skin.

"I love you so much, Lili." She answered.

Lisa left Seoul at midnight wherein Jennie was still asleep. She purposely schedule her flight at this time so that the girls won't see her. Who knows, she might not be able to leave when the girls started crying. Before Lisa finally leave the house, she went first towards Jennie's room and saw how peacefully she's sleeping. She gave Jennie a one last kiss before going on her way.

"Until we meet again, Nini."
