Chapter 58

Third Person's POV

A loud commotion coming from the bystanders caused Jennie to stop from spacing out. She quickly run towards the direction where the people are gathering around and pushed herself into the crowd. The feline instantly froze at what she saw.

Jennie gasped in horror and covered her mouth with trembling hands. Tears are starting to escape from her eyes.

"No."

Jennie lifted her head up and saw Lisa standing at the other side. Her eyes were fixed on the ground as her lips trembled in fear.

"No! No!" The tall girl repeatedly shouted.

Lisa quickly rushed towards the body of Rosé who is now lying down at the cold ground, covered with her own blood. She quickly pulled the blonde's body to a hug as tears started streaming down her face.

"L-Lisa." Rosé said in a weak voice.

"Yah. Don't talk." Lisa said before turning her attention towards the crowd that are currently watching them. "Don't just fucking stand there! Call a fucking ambulance now!" Lisa shouted at the top of her lungs.

"Monkey." Rosé once again called her but Lisa just kept on shouting for help.

Rosé gathered all of her strength to hold Lisa's arm which caught the latter's attention.

"Do I really need to get hit by a car before you stop?" Rosé joked as she her hand travel towards Lisa's cheeks. "You're such a stubborn monkey, do you know that?" She added and smiled.

Lisa held Rosé's hand that is resting on her cheeks. She shook her head softly. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry chipmunk." Lisa said and planted a kiss at Rosé's hand.

"Why are you crying?" Rosé asked. "You look ugly when you cry." She added.

"Chaeyoung-ah." Lisa mumbled.

"Stop crying." The blonde said and wiped Lisa's tears off.

"Save your energy, the help is on the way." Lisa said and went back on pleading the crowd.

"Damn. You're really a one stubborn monkey." Rosé said and took a deep breathe. "I'm sleepy, Lalisa."

"H-hey! No, Rosé. Don't dare to sleep. Y-you promised me r-remember? You promised me that y-you won't leave me."

Lisa's eyes darted towards Jennie who is still in shock. The accident that she witnessed when she was still a kid was being to close on what is happening today. Jennie met Lisa's eyes and saw how her eyes beg for help.

"Please. Call an ambulance." Lisa said in a weak voice.

The feline hurriedly took her phone out and started to dial the emergency hotline. She manage to explain clearly what the current situation is and tell their location.

Jennie rushed toward where Lisa is and crouched to match their current height. "The ambulance will be here within five minutes." She said. They we're indeed in luck because the nearest hospital is just a couple of blocks away from the café.

"Five minutes is enough for me to take a nap." Rosé said and coughed afterwards.

"Stop talking, Rosé." Jennie said and held Rosé's other hand tightly.

"Hey. Just look at me okay. Don't sleep." Lisa said as she guided Rosé's face to look at her.

"But I'm really sleepy. Just five minutes, Lisa." Rosé said and slowly shut her eyes close.

"H-hey!" Lisa panicked when she saw Rosé closed her eyes. She softly tap her cheeks to wake her up but it was no use. "Chaeyoung-ah! Wake up!" Lisa's voice became louder as she keeps on trying to wake Rosé up. Jennie held Lisa's hand to stop her when the siren of the ambulance echoed throughout the entire area.

When Jisoo received a call from Lisa, telling that her girlfriend was at the hospital and on a critical condition, she quickly left the university without thinking twice. Jisoo haven't finished her exams yet but she knows to herself that she can't possibly think straight knowing that the girl she loves is currently fighting for her life.

Jisoo arrived at the hospital in no time. She saw Jennie walking back and forth while biting her nails while Lisa was sitting at the chair, anxiously tapping her feet while waiting for the doctor to come out. Lisa's hands are intertwined to each other, silently praying.

"Jisoo." Jennie called when she spotted Jisoo staring at her.

Lisa faced Jisoo's direction which gave the latter a clear view of her bloody shirt. Lisa's right cheek also has some blood stains and her eyes where still red from crying.

"What happened? How's my Rosie?" Jisoo said as she slowly walked towards them.

Both of the girls fell silent as they don't know what they will answer to her. Jisoo keeps on looking at them back and forth, waiting for one of them to answer her question.

Later on, the doctor suddenly came out from the operating room making the girls rushed towards his way.

"Is any one of you are a relative of Ms. Park Chaeyoung?" The doctor asked.

"I'm her girlfriend." Jisoo said. "How is she?" She added.

"The operation was successful. We manage to prevent the internal bleeding that occur at the patient's brain from getting worse. But I'm afraid to tell you that your girlfriend might undergo into a state of coma. She may woke up in a week or two or maybe for months. But let's prepare for the worst case scenario." The doctor said.

"W-what do you mean?" Lisa asked.

"There's still a possibility that the patient might not woke up."

Lisa fell down on her knees when she heard what the doctor had just said. Jennie on the other hand, gasped in horror and tears are threatening to form in her eyes. Jisoo felt her throat became dry with the sudden news.

"W-where is she?" Jisoo asked.

"She's at the ICU. We still need to monitor her condition from time to time." The doctor lastly said before bidding goodbye.

The three girls went quiet until they heard a sob coming from Lisa.

"I'm sorry." Lisa said between her cries. Jisoo hurriedly went towards her and pulled her into a hug which made the latter cried louder.

"I'm sorry. If I just turned back when she called me. If I just didn't run away, Rosé wouldn't be here." Lisa said.

"It's all an accident Lisa. No one wants this to happen. Now, stand up, let's go and meet Rosé." Jisoo said and show off a small smile to comfort the latter.

Jennie was just watching them, she badly want to console Lisa but she's also feeling guilty because she knew that if she wasn't so selfish, this horrible accident wouldn't happened.

The sight of Rosé with a lots of machines connected to her body broke Lisa's heart into pieces. She never expected even once in her life that she would be seeing her beloved friend in such state. Rosé is like a sister to her, or mostly, like a twin. Both of them shared their good and bad time together so it really made Lisa devastated.

Lisa lifted her trembling blood stained hands towards the mirror that is in between her and the blonde. She caressed the blonde's cheeks through the mirror as tears started to fall down against her face. She couldn't count how many times she cried today.

"You're such a cry baby you know that." Jisoo said when she spotted Lisa. The tall girl quickly wiped off her tears.

"Why aren't you crying? Aren't you sad because of what happened to her?" Lisa said.

"Of course I am sad. Who would be happy if her girl would be caught in an accident right? But I know my baby is strong. She won't leave us just like this. Just wait and see, she will wake up within a week. That's how strong my Rosie is." Jisoo said and smiled.

"Yeah. Chipmunk is really strong." Lisa said, still not removing her gaze on the blonde. "Any news about the owner of the car?" Lisa added, pertaining to one who hit Rosé.

"Yeah. I heard he's in jail right now. I'm glad the police took an action right away."

"He deserves to rot in jail."

"Anyway, we're going home for a bit, you should come and change. Look at your shirt." Jisoo said. Lisa faced her and nodded as an agreement.

"We'll be back chipmunk. It won't take us long. I promise." Lisa whispered before leaving.

The whole ride on their way home was silent. Jennie kept on glancing at Lisa, whose attention is focused at the scenery outside the car. Jisoo was having a hard time focusing her eyes on the road. She can see the couple's situation at the rear view mirror of her car and she's pretty sure that there's something odd that happened between those two.

"Don't take up too much of your time okay? Rosé's waiting for us." Jisoo said to the couple before going upstairs.

Lisa admire Jisoo for not shedding a single tear. She admire how strong Jisoo is, how she can smile that cheerfully despite of this situation. But little did Lisa know, Jisoo was using her whole strength to hold back her tears. She manage somehow to hide her pain behind her smile.

Jisoo went to the bathroom and turned on the shower. When she's sure that the sound of the water coming from the shower was loud enough, she finally let go of the emotion that she's holding for so long. Jisoo fell on her knees and cried silently.

"Lisa." Jennie called her girlfriend but she just ignored her.

"Lisa, can we talk?" Jennie pleaded.

"Not now." Lisa coldly said.

"Please Lisa."

Jennie kept on following and pleading Lisa which clearly made the tall girl very annoyed.

"I told you Jennie, not now!" Lisa yelled when she faced the feline. Jennie flinched at Lisa's sudden rise in her voice.

"But, I just want to talk." Jennie said in a low and soft voice.

Lisa brushed her hair with her fingers in annoyance and scoffed.

"What do you want to talk about? Oh. You want to talk about how you enjoyed talking to that asshole? Or maybe you want to talk about how you clearly denied the fact that we're in a relationship in front of him?" She said. Lisa can't control her anger as of now.

"No. I'm not enjoying-"

"Don't lie to me. You clearly exchange laugh with that jerk! I saw it with my two own eyes. Tell me, is there something going on between the two of you? Is he your secret boyfriend or what? Or maybe I am the one who is the secret and he's the real one?"

"Of course not Lisa! Mino and I, there's nothing going on between us! You're not a secret Lili."

"Then why does it feels that I am?!" Lisa yelled at the top of her lungs. She closed her eyes for a bit and took a deep breathe.

"If you think that I can't see it, if you think that I can't feel it, you're clearly wrong, Jennie. Those times when you keep on letting go of my hand whenever people started to stare at us. Those times when you don't want to be close to me whenever we're walking at the park. All of those, I did felt it." Lisa said.

"It's not what you think."

"Then what it is? Explain to me Jennie. Because I am getting anxious everyday trying to think if there's something wrong with me or I am just imagining things."

"It's just that.." Jennie paused for a moment. It was only for a few seconds but for Lisa, it was already long enough to make her impatient.

Lisa held the feline's shoulder and shouted, "Why can't you tell to that Mino guy that you are mine?!"

"Because there are too many people, Lisa!" Jennie yelled back.

Lisa eventually let go of her, even though she expected this kind of answer, it still feels the other way when it finally comes from her.

"What?" The thing that Lisa can only say.

"It's just that, I don't want you to be judge. I don't want us to be judge. Remember the time when we bumped into a bunch of strangers? And they started to whisper some horrible things about us? I don't want you to hear that every day. I don't want you to get hurt with their words Lisa."

Lisa suddenly laughed hysterically which scared the feline. But that laugh slowly turned into a muffled sob. Lisa felt that Jennie was about to approach her so she quickly lifted her hand telling the feline to not continue what she was about to do. Lisa sniffed and wiped of her tears.

"Why do you care so much about what other people will say? Oh, I forgot. You're clearly like them. You just happened to fall in love with me or maybe you just fall in love with me out of pity. Yeah. That's what it is maybe."

"No, I really do love you Lisa."

"I don't think you do, Jennie. Because if you really love me, you would consider how will I feel. You don't want me to get hurt with their words? Well, bad news, you clearly broke me apart by that mindset of yours. All this time, I thought we can finally have the same love story like Rosé and Jisoo. But I guess, not every story are the same." Lisa said bluntly.

Jennie became quiet. Lisa's words made her realized that she clearly did a horrible decision. She was dumbfounded and can't even think of a single thing to make Lisa believe that she really loves her, that she didn't fall in love with Lisa out of guilt or pity or whatever Lisa thinks about the love that she's giving to her.

"You know what Jennie?" Lisa rubbed her face with her palm harshly. "I'm tired of this shit. I'm tired of this push and pull game that we've been playing since day one. I had enough already." She said.

Jennie's eyes mirrored fear as she stared at Lisa's brown orbs that is blank and cold, just like what it is back then. She felt a lump started to form into her throat.

"W-what do you mean?" Jennie said. Her heart is beating faster out of nervousness.

"I can't do this anymore. We're done, Jennie." Lisa said coldly.

"Done? Lisa, you're not breaking up with me aren't you?" Jennie's voice started to tremble in fear.

Lisa didn't answer the feline and turned her back instead to go inside her room. But she was stopped when she felt Jennie suddenly hug her from behind. Her lips quiver as she try not to let out a tear.

"No, don't leave me Lili." Jennie said between her sobs.

"I'm sorry." Lisa mumbled which made Jennie's cries went louder.

"Don't you love me anymore?" Jennie asked.

"I love you more than everything and I'm sure you already know that." Lisa took a deep breathe before continuing.

"But loving you is slowly tearing me apart. I cannot afford to lose myself again. I tried so hard to climb up back, I can't fall down now. Not again. Not until Rosé woke up." Lisa said.

"If you give up on me, I'm going to give up on me too." Jennie said.

"Don't. You already have a life without me before. I'm sure you can do that again. I know you're strong." Lisa said and removed Jennie's arms that's hugging her waist. "Now if you excuse me, Rosé's waiting for us." She added before entering her room, leaving Jennie a crying mess.

Lisa can hear Jennie's loud cries right behind her door. As much as she wanted to go back there and take back the things she said, she know she just can't. She slowly fell down on her knees and covered her mouth with both of her hands quickly as the sobs continuously trying to escape her mouth.

"I'm sorry." Lisa said before hugging her knees tightly. How she wish Rosé is with her give her some comfort.
