Chapter 36
HOMOPHOBIC (JENLISA)
Third Person's POV
"Where do you want to eat today?" Lisa asked as she watched Nayeon fixing her things. The bunny paused a bit and look upwards while tapping her fore finger at the top of the table.
"Cute." Lisa thought when she saw how Nayeon pouted when she was having some hard time thinking.
"Jennie's not coming with us today. Want to have lunch with us?" RosÑ suddenly showed up beside Lisa. The blonde turned and face the chipmunk. She flickered her eyes back to Nayeon who was still thinking for a few times before shaking her lightly.
"You're really taking this to the next level eh?" Jisoo was standing behind RosÑ and popped her head to the side to take a look at the blonde's face.
"I'm trying my best. I guess I deserve a compliment right?" The blonde replied wearing that smug smirk of hers.
"Compliment my ass." Jisoo said and stick out her tongue.
"You're the one who kept on pushing Nayeon to me. Now you're treating me like this? Ah, Jisoo." Lisa said and looked at Jisoo full of disbelief. Jisoo was about to attack the blonde but RosÑ quickly step up between them.
"Stop." RosÑ said sternly and lifted both of her hands sideward. Jisoo softened and lowered her head, while Lisa bit the inside of her cheeks, trying to stop herself from laughing.
"Just remember what I told you okay?" RosÑ said and patted Lisa's shoulder before walking outside the room.
Jisoo lifted up her right hand and acted like she was about to smack the blonde but when she heard RosÑ's voice she quickly put it down and run towards the chipmunk who is waiting by the door. Lisa chuckled as she saw how Jisoo acted and shake her head.
"There's definitely going on between those two." Lisa muttered to herself.
"Aha!" Nayeon exclaimed which made blonde face her. Nayeon put her hands right above Lisa's shoulder and leaned closer to her which made the latter surprised. Her eyes widened at the bunny's sudden move but she quickly recovered when she saw how Nayeon is smiling widely.
"Seems like you finally figured out where you want to eat." Lisa said. It was Nayeon's turn to surprise when Lisa move closer, leaving their face few inches apart.
"Took you long though." The blonde added.
"S-Sorry." Nayeon stuttered and slowly put down her hands and lowered her head, hiding those cheeks that are now turning pink.
Lisa can't help but to giggle at her cuteness. She pulled away and asked the girl once more where she would want to eat. Nayeon immediately lifted up her head and smiled at her widely.
"There's a pizza parlor around the corner, can we eat there? Please." Nayeon as she wrapped her hands on Lisa's arms and pleaded.
"Anything you want bunny." The word bunny slipped smoothly from Lisa's mouth which made her surprised and covered her mouth immediately. Nayeon stare at her with wide eyes full of disbelief when she heard that nickname.
"Bunny?!" Nayeon exclaimed.
"Yup. A cute one." Lisa pinched her cheeks and walk towards the door.
--
"Do I really look like a bunny?" Nayeon asked.
Nayeon didn't stop whining when she heard that nickname. Ever since they left the campus, she didn't stop asking Lisa how she came up with that. Fortunately, the blonde wasn't annoyed by her naughtiness but instead, she can't stop giggling.
"Yah! Don't laugh and answer me!" Nayeon yelled and stomped her feet. Lisa stopped and look at the bunny who is now pouting while looking at her with narrowed eyes.
"Answer me." Nayeon said again. Lisa stared at her for a moment when a familiar voice echoed at the back of her mind.
"Notice her two big front teeth? That makes her look like a bunny."
Lisa crept up a smile as she remembered that sweet voice. She took a few steps down to her memory lane and didn't notice that her smile grew wider. The snapping of Nayeon's finger took her mind back to reality. Lisa blinked a few times and cleared her throat.
"Let's go. I'm hungry." Lisa said and intertwined her fingers to the latter.
The blonde didn't gave Nayeon a chance to talk again. Lisa can't take anymore the grumbling of her stomach so she pulled the bunny towards the pizza parlor. Lisa, being a gentleman, opened the door for Nayeon. They chose the table near the glass window because Lisa always wants to look outside from time to time.
Lisa pulled out a chair for her date. Nayeon put a few strands of hair behind her ear before taking a seat. Lisa smiled at the latter before sitting at the chair in front of her. The blonde was looking at the menu when she felt a burning gaze somewhere around. She decided to scan the place and her eyes caught a certain feline staring straightly at her.
"Déjà vu." Lisa whispered to herself.
Jennie was sitting few table away from them. She's with Hanbin just like the last time that they met in this exact situation. Nayeon noticed that Lisa was wearing those unreadable eyes. She decided to check what the blonde was looking at and her face suddenly became worried. Nayeon held Lisa's hand that is resting at the top of their table.
"Do you want to go somewhere else?" Nayeon asked as she rub her thumb at the back of Lisa's hand. Lisa shake her head and smiled at the latter.
"It's fine. Let's eat?" She said.
That act didn't escape the feline's eyes which sent a sudden pang of pain into her heart. Her cat-like eyes were glued towards the couple hands. A tap on her shoulder made her stop from staring. She turned her faced towards the guy that was sitting beside her whom she has forgotten since she saw Lisa entered.
"Why?" Jennie blinked a few times.
"You're spacing out. Is there something wrong?" Hanbin said and smiled at the latter.
"No." Jennie said and sent a small smile. Hanbin knew what Jennie said was a lie. He definitely thinks that there is something wrong just by judging how the way Jennie looks at her best friend.
--
"Here you go." Jennie said as she gave the water bottle to Hanbin.
Hanbin sat beside the feline and leaned his back to the wall. Their practice today was intense, the competition was getting nearer so they need to double their efforts. They must not waste time if they still want to defend their title.
"Oh, what are those for?" Jennie said as she pointed out the students that are placing some chairs right at the center of the dance studio.
"Ah. Those are props for Lisa's solo." Hanbin replied while wiping his sweat away.
"She's having a solo again?" Jennie's heart starting to beat rapidly. She's going to see Lisa dancing on the stage alone, again.
"Yup. There's no point of calling her our ace if she couldn't have her own time at the stage."
Lisa can't help but to feel nervous. She's very fond of dancing but knowing Jennie was just right around the corner, somewhat makes her feel uncomfortable. The blond roamed her eyes to find Nayeon, that bunny has become her comfort zone this past few weeks.
"Hey." Nayeon appeared behind Lisa.
The blonde turned around to face her. Out of reflex, she pulled Nayeon for a hug, earning a little gasped from the latter. The other members saw what happened and started to tease and squeal as they watch that sweet moment of them. Jennie on the other hand, quickly looked away.
"I-Is t-there something wrong?" Nayeon asked as she slowly lifted up both of her hands and patted Lisa's back.
"No. I just need a hug." Lisa said and sighed in relief. Nayeon push her a little for her to be able to let go of their hug.
"You're being extra today." Nayeon said and smiled widely before walking away from the blonde. As soon as she turned away from Lisa, the smile on her face instantly turned into a frown. She knew the reason why that girl is acting like that today.
Lisa took a deep breath and calm herself before she start her rehearsal. She closed her eyes and cleared her mind. When she heard the music started playing, the look in her eyes turned from being nervous into a serious one.
Jennie can't take her eyes off from the blonde who is dancing smoothly right in front of her. She was hoping that Lisa would met her eyes even for once for a reason that even her don't know what it is.
Seems like the feline's wish has been granted because all of a sudden, Lisa looked at her straightly to her eyes as if she's reading her soul. The blonde was feeling the same thing. When she looked at those eyes that she's longing for, Lisa can't help but to drown.
Lisa can't take her eyes off the feline. Everything around disappear, except for Jennie. But that little staring contest will result for an accident that is bound to happen. Lisa took her first step above the chair, still not removing her eyes at the feline.
Screams and horror filled the whole studio and the last thing Jennie knew, the blonde was already lying sideward on the floor, screaming in agony. She quickly went towards the blonde and checked her condition.
The chair has a broken feet that nobody noticed which caused Lisa to fell. It wasn't that high but she fell at a wrong way making her ankle twisted. Lisa saw Jennie rushing towards her but she didn't pay attention as the pain in her ankle is eating up her entire system.
With trembling hands, Jennie tried to touch the part where Lisa was holding but it only made the scream of the blonde to grow louder. Jennie and Nayeon went to Lisa's side at the same time making a quite tension between them. They were both offering their hand to help Lisa up but the latter chose the bunny leaving the kitten frozen on her spot.
Jennie can't do anything but to watch her used to be best friend to leave the studio. She gritted her teeth and lowered her head in embarrassment. This was the second time that Lisa made her feel like this. And she would definitely lie if she would say that it doesn't affect her.
"Jennie." Hanbin called the feline but what surprised him is when the feline look at him with glary eyes.
"You should have check those equipment that you're using! Why didn't you notice that chair was broken? Look what happened!" Jennie yelled at him which made the eyes of the latter grew wide in surprise.
"I-I-It w-was an accident Jennie. Why are you so fired up?" Hanbin said.
Jennie came back into her senses and noticed that almost all of the members are staring at them. The feline cleared her throat before answering Hanbin's question.
"I-it's just... The competition is getting nearer. We can't afford to lose any members this time." Jennie said but Hanbin still hasn't buy her excuse.
"I-I'm s-sorry for y-yelling." Jennie added.
"No. I understand. Lisa is your best friend, it's just normal for you to worry about her. Now, go and check her." Hanbin said with a smile.
Jennie haven't told Hanbin yet about what happened to her and Lisa and she has no plan on telling it to him. The feline nodded and let out a timid smile before exiting the studio.
Jennie went straight to the clinic to check Lisa but she quickly froze on her spot when she saw how Nayeon take care of her best friend. Her throat went dry and there's one thing that she's feeling right now.
The feline sudden felt a pang of pain strike into her heart when she saw how Lisa smiled to the bunny. The smile that used to be for her.
"I should be the one taking care of her." Jennie thought.
