Chapter 31

HOMOPHOBIC (JENLISA)

Third Person's POV

"J-Jennie?"

Lisa stuttered as she muttered the name of the raging feline. Jennie planned to surprise the two because she heard how serious they are talking to each other. But she was the one who got surprised.

"H-how l-long have y-you been there?" Lisa asked once again. Fear was evident from her voice. She held tightly at the counter to support her knees that are slowly losing their strength. She tried to force out a smile, like she usually do, trying to hide the nervousness that she's feeling right now.

"Long enough to hear everything." Jennie said with a low, cold voice. She hung her head low, hiding her eyes, making the two girls in front of them to have a hard time reading her thoughts.

"Tell me it was all a lie." Jennie whispered but loud enough for them to hear.

"Jen-"

"Shut up, Rosѐ." Jennie said making the eyes of the chipmunk grew wide. She had no choice but to pursed her lips and stopped herself from talking. Even though she really wants to defend Lisa, talking to Jennie at this state is not going to be helpful.

"Now, tell me what I heard was all a joke." Jennie lifted up her head and looked at the blonde. Tears are streaming down from her raging eyes that made Lisa to look away. The aching of her heart grew even more.

"Tell me Lisa!" Jennie shouted. Frustration, anger, pain, that's what Jennie's tone show. Lisa lowered her head and gritted her teeth while clenching both of her hands inside her pocket. Tears are started to form from her eyes.

"I'm sorry." Lisa softly said. Jennie scoffed and wiped up her tears.

"Unbelievable." She said before walking out from the blonde's house.

Hearing the retreating footsteps of the feline made Lisa jolt up. When she lifted her head up, she saw Jennie was already right at the front door. Rosѐ haven't got the chance to stop Lisa because the blonde run as fast as she could. The chipmunk was left all alone from the kitchen and decided to focus her attention back to the pasta the Lisa cooked earlier.

"Jennie wait!" Lisa shouted and held Jennie's wrist, stopping her from leaving.

Jennie abruptly pull her hand away from Lisa's grip which made the blonde dumbfounded.

"Why Lisa? Why of all people? Why you need to be one of them?" Jennie said, her back is still facing the blonde. She doesn't have the will to turn around and face her. She feel betrayed by her own best friend.

"I-I tried to fight it believe me. But, every time I try, my feelings for you grew deeper. Until one day, I woke up, and realized that I love you more than a best friend. That I'm fucking in love with my own best friend."

"Since when?"

"Since that day full of thunders. Where I found you crying in the corner."

"So you're just hiding your true identity from me all this time?" Jennie said and turned around to face Lisa. Her face is a mess, tears are flowing non-stop from her eyes. Lisa don't know what to say anymore so she just went quiet.

"You fucking betrayed me! I trusted you! You knew how much I hate this kind of people! Why do you need to be like them? That's why I told you stop hanging out with that bunny!"

"Nayeon has nothing to with this! I told you being gay is not like a contagious disease! I'm gay, and there's nothing I can do about it. This is the real me, Jen."

"You know I can't accept this."

"I'm not asking for you to love me. But can you please accept me for who I am? Jennie, I m-maybe gay, but I'm still your best friend. I can't lose you Jen."

"It's too late, you already did." Jennie said and turned around.

Jennie was about to walk away and Lisa saw it so she quickly wrapped her arms to the feline's waist, hugging her tightly from behind. Jennie was startled for a bit but when she realized what's happening, she quickly try to let go from Lisa's grip.

"Let me go!" Jennie said as she struggle to move Lisa's arms.

"No. If I did, I'll lose you forever!" Lisa said in a cracking voice.

"I said, let me go!" Jennie said and use all of her strength to push Lisa away. The blonde lose her balance and stumbled and fell into the ground. She was now looking at Jennie's eyes that are full of hatred.

"Jennie, please." Lisa begged for the last time.

"You are a fucking filthy gay. I hate you. No, scratch that, I despise you!" Jennie spit those hurtful words from her mouth that made Lisa froze in her spot. She never imagined that Jennie would be saying those words. She knew that Jennie will be mad at her for sure but it didn't crossed her mind the possibility that it will be this hurtful.

"I should have trusted my instincts at the first place. I shouldn't let myself to be close to someone like you." Jennie said as she try to remove something from her neck.

"N-No..." Lisa softly said when she noticed what Jennie is doing.

"I wish I never met you."

Those were the last words Lisa heard from Jennie before she threw the necklace towards the dumbfounded feline. Jennie looked at the pitiful state of her best friend for the last time and walk away from her.

Lisa wants to get up and run to follow Jennie. But she doesn't have any strength left. Her eyes darted towards the necklace that Jennie threw. With trembling hands, she reached the necklace and held it with full of care. Lisa bite her lips as hard as she could that she could taste a little bit of blood. She's trying to suppress herself from crying. She don't want to cry, not here when she's outside.

"Lisa?" Rosѐ softly called the blonde. She was listening from inside and when she knew that Jennie already left, she hurried her way towards the blonde. She was worried, she can't imagine what pain Lisa is feeling right now.

Lisa lifted her head up and look at her buddy. Rosѐ eyes soften when she saw Lisa's messy face.

"C-chaeyoung-ah." Lisa said in a cracking voice that made the chipmunk to rush over her and wrapped her tightly in her arms.

Rosѐ's warm arms made Lisa burst out in tears. Lisa held Rosѐ's arms tightly as she cried all the pain out from her heart. Her heart is aching so much and she don't know if she can take it anymore. Rosѐ caressed Lisa's back, hearing her friend's screams in agony, made tears started flowing down from her eyes. This was the first time that she saw Lisa cry this much.

Jisoo on the other hand was on her way towards Lisa's house when she saw Jennie walking rapidly that made her surprised. She noticed that Jennie came from the direction where Lisa's house is, so she assume that something happened. But before she can ask the feline, Jennie suddenly talk.

"The both of you knew right?" Jennie asked, not looking towards the latter.

"What?"

"Rosѐ and you. You both knew about Lisa right?"

Jisoo was taken aback by Jennie's question making her not to answer immediately.

"I knew it." Jennie said and dryly chuckle.

"I'm sorry Jen." Jisoo said but Jennie ignored her and continued walking.

--

"How is she?" Jisoo asked Rosѐ as soon as she saw the chipmunk went downstairs.

"She fell asleep. Maybe she get tired from crying." Rosѐ said and took a seat beside Jisoo.

"What would happened now? I bet Jennie's is mad at us too." Jisoo said.

"I don't know Jisoo. My concern for now is Lisa, she's the one who is experiencing so much pain from what's happening right now."

"I understand why Jennie acted that way. She has a past, but I think she went too far."

"Yeah. She really did and Lisa was the one who's suffering."

"I hope everything will be back to normal. The four of us were supposed to be living in a same house a year from now, but now, I'm thinking that it might not happened."

"Everything will be okay. All you need to do is get some rest right now, Jisoo."

"What about you?"

"I'll be watching Lisa for the mean time. And besides, my house is just across the street. Mom wouldn't be worried about me."

"Okay then, I'll be going. Take care of Lisa okay?"

"I will."

Rosѐ took a rest at the couch when Jisoo left. It's been a tough day, for the four of them. She closed her eyes and silently pray that everything will be okay soon. Rosѐ didn't knew how long she's been keeping her eyes close, all she know is that she's slowly drifting into a deep slumber.

--

It was already dark when Lisa woke up. She felt her head hurting and wondered why she's experiencing that. When she finally remembered what happened earlier, all of the pain and sadness came back and engulfed her whole system.

She took her phone and stare at her wallpaper. It was a picture of her and Jennie taken by her Mom during Christmas Eve. She chuckle when she remembered how they end up looking like that in a photo. She was just trying to tease Jennie by planting a kiss into her cheeks but Jennie caught her and was surprised on what she's doing.

All of the sweet memories that Lisa made with Jennie came back. And knowing the fact that it would remain to be just a part of her memories send so much pain into Lisa's heart once again.

Not wanting to be sulk inside her room, Lisa decided to take a walk in a middle of the night. She went downstairs and saw familiar figure sleeping right on their couch. It was Rosѐ, her chipmunk. Lisa took some blanket and wrapped it on the chipmunk's body. She caressed Rosѐ's cheeks and a weak smile form in Lisa's lips.

"Thank you." Lisa muttered. She's indeed thankful that Rosѐ didn't left her. She even stayed the night just to make sure that she wouldn't do anything stupid. So to show how thankful she is, she decided to grab some of Rosѐ's favorite chips on her way.

Lisa's feet brought her towards the park, where some of her and Jennie memories are. A part of her was hoping that she will find Jennie there. She still haven't gave up on asking for the feline's forgiveness.

Lisa indeed found Jennie at the park. Sitting on the swing where she first saw the gummy smile of that feline. She was about to hurry her way towards her but when Lisa saw someone was with her, the rushing footsteps that she made suddenly retreated.

Jennie was crying her heart out at Hanbin's arms. Lisa can't do anything since she knew that she was the reason why Jennie is feeling that right now. She stayed in the dark, hidden, and listening to those hurtful cries from her best friend and to those sweet comforting words coming from her lover. She stayed there for a while until her heart can take anymore, that's when Lisa decided to leave.

--

"Where have you been?" Rosѐ asked when she heard the front door opened. Rosѐ sat up from the couch and rubbed her eyes, the creaking sound of the door has woken her up.

"I just decided to take a walk."

"In the middle of the night?"

"Yup. And I bought you some food. I guess you haven't eaten your dinner yet. There's also some of your favorite chips there." Lisa said and gave the bag to Rosѐ. The chipmunk's eyes twinkle when she saw a lots of food right inside the bag. But it didn't last long, she diverted her attention towards the blonde and look at her.

"Are you okay?" Rosѐ asked in a worried tone.

"I would lie if I say yes." Lisa said and smile weakly. She scoot closer towards the girl and rested her head on her shoulder.

"Chaeyoung-ah."

"Hmm?"

"Thank you."

"Silly. No worries Lisa. I'll always be here for you."

"Don't leave me okay?"

"I won't."
