Chapter 28
HOMOPHOBIC (JENLISA)
Lisa's POV
After that so called "date" with my best friend, Jennie has been constantly avoiding me. Every time that I try to talk to her, she always have that irritated tone. Even if my parents and grandpa are around, she's still not talking to me and if she does, Jennie would only speak a few words and turn her back on me.
I'm starting to wonder why my best friend is acting like that. It really looks like she got jealous by that time when me and Bambam accidentally bump into each other at the aquarium. Well, it is true that I really forgot Jennie that time for a while. Bambam is my childhood best friend. He knew everything about me and ever since they moved to Phuket, we've rarely seen each other.
But it's still not yet right, why would Jennie act like she's jealous?
My train of thoughts was interrupted when my phone rang. I got a text message from Bambam. We're going to catch up today. I was thinking of bringing Jennie with me but judging by how she's acting now, it might be better to go alone instead.
BamBam:
"Hey, are you coming?"
Lisa:
"Yup. Be there in few minutes."
I put the phone inside the pocket of my pants and fix my hair for one last time. When I opened the door of my bedroom, I saw Jennie, she' also about to go out of her room. Damn, what a coincidence.
I saw Jennie eyeing me from head to toe and swear those stares of her never failed to send shivers down to my spine.
"Going somewhere?" Jennie asked in a cold and firm voice.
"Y-yes. I'm going to meet a friend. Want to come with me?" I said. Well, I wasn't really planning to bring her but at least I asked right? I mean, I don't want to be rude. I was the one who insisted for her to come with me here in Thailand but I'm going to leave her for the day.
"No. I'm just going to stay indoors. I'm not in the mood to go out anyway."
"Are you sure that you'll be fine here?"
"Yup. Me and Hanbin will facetime each other. You don't have to worry about me. Just enjoy your date." Jennie said and went back inside of her room.
Oh yeah, I totally forgot, that guy still exist. Then it's useless to think that Jennie got jealous that time. Maybe she just got mad because I wasn't paying her attention when it was supposed to be our time. Well, I guess I need to make it up with her. It's already Christmas Eve later.
--
I don't know how many times I've glanced on my watch. Bambam is fucking late. I've been waiting here on our favorite cafÑ for an hour. He knew how much I hate waiting and here he is, he's still the same old Bambam that keeps on testing my patience.
I was about make a call when suddenly I heard the bell rang meaning that someone has entered the cafÑ. I divert my eyes to the door and there, I saw my childhood best friend rushing his way towards me with a big smile on his face.
"Hey Lalisa!" He greeted before taking a seat.
"You still haven't change? You're freaking late again Bam." I said annoyingly.
"And you're still the grumpy Lalisa that I knew." Bambam said and grinned at me.
"Whatever. Get me some coffee. You're paying."
"What? You're the rich kid here. Why the fuck I am paying?"
"That's what you get for making me wait for an hour."
Bambam grumpily stood up and went towards the counter. It's not my fault why he is late. After a few more minutes, he came back with two cups in his hand. He put the cup on me and the soothing aroma of the coffee lingers around my nostrils.
"Hmm. Espresso." I said.
"Still your favorite?" Bambam asked.
"Yep. And it will always be." I replied and took a sip from the cup.
"So how are you? How long has it been since we last met?" Bambam started.
"I don't know maybe a year or two? I'm doing well. How about you? I haven't heard anything from you since when you moved to Phuket."
"Well, things got busy. You know, high school stuffs."
"Oh yeah. What are you doing here in Bangkok anyway?"
"Well, I was visiting my aunt and I also heard that you came back here. I was thinking of visiting you but seems like destiny did that for me."
"Then what are you doing at the aquarium?" I asked. I saw Bambam shifted on his seat nervously which made me smirk.
"I-I was m-meeting a friend." He explained.
"You mean, you have a date?"
"Ok fine. I have a date. How about you? Tell me something about your girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?"
"Yeah, the girl that you chase remember? What happened to you guys anyway? You seems like fighting that time. There's no need to hide it from me Lali. Since when we were young, I already knew you're not straight."
"She's not my girlfriend. She's my best friend. And yeah, she's mad at me that time. Honestly, until now."
"Bummer. You two can make a very good couple. Wait, she's still mad at you? Why?"
"Well, she said that I forgot that she's my date that time which is apparently true because I was excited to talk to you remember?"
"Why does it looks like she's jealous of me? And I thought you are not together then why are you guys having a date?"
"That's a friendly date Bam."
"No. I'm ain't gonna buy that."
"Her heart belongs to someone else." I said which made him fell in silence. I took a sip from my coffee again and glance at him in the corner of my eyes and saw how awkwardly he's shifting into his seat. I put down the cup and chuckled.
"Are you okay?" He suddenly asked.
"How can I when the girl I love is already in love with someone else?"
"That sucks. But remember, eyes can never lie Lali."
"What do you mean?"
"Nothing. Are you going home after this?"
"Yup. But I'll go somewhere first. Want to come with me?"
"Sure." He said.
--
"You really love her don't you?" Bambam said and look at me with worried eyes.
"How did you say that?"
"I know you Lali. You're not the type of person that's buying gifts for someone. Even your parents haven't receive something from you. Even me! I'm your childhood best friend but I haven't receive any single gifts from you! But look, you drag me all the way here to buy something for her."
"I didn't drag you. You come with me willingly remember? Besides, later would be Christmas Eve. It's natural for me to buy Jennie a gift."
"Ah, so Jennie is her name. Then why you didn't buy something for your parents or for your grandpa?" Bambam said and narrowed his eyes on me.
"Okay. Fine. I'm not going to argue with you anymore."
"Whipped. Why don't you just move on? There are lot of girls who are single and still available out there."
"If that would be easy, you think I wouldn't already do that?"
"You got a point. Anyways, I'm going. Nice catching up with you Lali."
"I shall be going too. Until next time, Bam."
We waved goodbye to each other and started to walk in opposite direction. It was just few steps when Bambam suddenly called my name which made me to turn back to him.
"Merry Christmas Lali!" Bambam shouted. I smiled to him warmly.
"Merry Christmas Bam!"

Third Person's POV
It's nearly Christmas Eve but still there's no sign of Lisa and Jennie was starting to get irritated once again. Jennie thinks that Lisa was having a great time with that friend of hers, so great that she even forget that Christmas Eve would be tonight. But what really irritates Jennie the most is the fact that Lisa was the one who insisted for her to come, but it seems like she's not even paying attention to her.
Jennie's train of thoughts was interrupted when her phone began to ring. A part of her was hoping that the call would be coming from Lisa but she was disappointed when she saw Hanbin's caller ID instead of her best friend.
"Hey." Jennie said as soon as she answered the call. She's now facetiming again with him.
"Hi. We might get busy later so I thought that it would be better to call and greet you early." Hanbin replied.
"Yeah. That's nice. I might be busy later too."
"You should have tell me that you have no one to be with. I should have invited you here. Being away with you makes me lonely."
Jennie's heart fluttered hearing those words from the man who owns her heart. Her irritation suddenly flew away and was replaced by happiness.
"Such a sweet guy. I miss you too don't worry. Just enjoy with your family okay?" Jennie said.
"Yes. You too okay? Merry Christmas Jennie."
"Merry Christmas Hanbin." Jennie said and ended the call.
A loud sigh was heard from the feline. She's still thinking if Lisa would be home by now. She was in the middle of her thoughts when someone knock on her door. It was one of the maids, asking her to come down since everything is already set.
Jennie went towards the living room where the Manoban's gather. Her eyes were looking for a blonde but she never caught even her shadow.
"Looking for me?"
Jennie jumped in surprise when Lisa suddenly appeared behind her and whispered. She held her chest tightly and glare towards the blonde.
"Are you planning to kill me?" Jennie said which made the blonde laugh.
"No. I was just asking because you seem like lost in your thoughts." Lisa said which earned her an eye roll from the feline. Jennie turn her back towards Lisa.
"Are you still mad?" Lisa said cutely and went in front of Jennie.
"Why would I be mad at you?" Jennie said.
"Because of what happened at the aquarium?" Lisa said but Jennie chose to ignore her and went towards the sofa. Lisa followed her and sat beside the feline.
"Hey Nini. It's Christmas." Lisa said and pouted.
"So?"
"Don't be mad please?" Lisa pleaded in her cute voice which made the feline smile. Lisa cheered when she saw the smile forming out from Jennie's lips.
"You smiled! So it means that you're not mad anymore?"
"Fine. Just don't you dare to forget about me again." Jennie said. Lisa saluted towards the feline which made both of them burst out in laughter. Lisa was busy telling stories about Bambam to her best friend when suddenly Jennie remembered that she has a gift to give to Lisa.
"Wait here. I'll just get something." Jennie said and walk back towards her room. Lisa was confused but she has no choice but to wait for Jennie to come back. Lisa poured a wine to her glass and went to her grandpa to have a small talk.
After a few minutes, Jennie came back but Lisa seems to not notice it because she was facing her back towards Jennie. Until a meowing sound was heard which made Lisa's eyes widened and turn around towards Jennie. Lisa jumped in joy when she saw that Jennie was holding a cat. She hurriedly run towards them and pet the cat. Jennie smiled when she saw the reaction of her best friend. She's indeed a cat person.
"Merry Christmas Lili." Jennie said and gave the cat to her.
"W-what? H-he's m-mine?" Lisa stuttered. Jennie nodded and Lisa took the cat from her and gave him a hug. Jennie's smile grew wider as she's watching her best friend being happy with her gift to her.
"I'll name you Leo." Lisa said cutely towards the cat and touch his nose. Leo meowed as if he's agreeing on the given name to him.
"Wait, hold Leo." Lisa said and gave back Leo to Jennie. Jennie tilted her head in confusion when she saw Lisa suddenly left the room. But that confusion was replaced by happiness when she saw Lisa holding the dog that they saw at the pet shop last time.
"Merry Christmas Nini." Lisa said and gave the dog to her. Jennie put down Leo for a while and grab the dog. Her gummy smile was showing which indeed made the blonde's heart flutter. Lisa's parents, including her grandfather has this knowing look on their faces. They were all surprised because no one expect that their Lisa would be giving a gift to someone.
"Merry Christmas Lili. Thank you for giving Kuma to me." Jennie said, still showing that gummy smile of hers.
"Kuma? You already named him?"
"Yep. I already named him the first time I saw him at the pet shop." Jennie said and went back on cuddling the dog. Lisa picked up Leo and watch how her best friend smile as she's petting Kuma.
"Look at them. They're such sweet girls." Lisa's Dad said.
"Hey sweeties. Let me take a picture of you." Lisa's Mom called the both of them which the two gladly obeyed and pose for a photo.
