Chapter 2
HOMOPHOBIC (JENLISA)
Lisa's POV
"This is the last box Mom." I said as I put the box inside.
We are currently moving our things towards our new house, and the boxes that Mom asked me to carry was not a joke. It was so fucking heavy! I wonder if Mom pack some stones from Thailand. Well, luckily I have been visiting the gym lately, that's why I was able to carry those heavy boxes inside.
"Thank you so much sweetie. Now, go and take a shower, we are going somewhere." Mom replied.
"Where are we going?" I asked confusedly.
"We are going to your school." Dad said as he walked on by.
"My school? I haven't enrolled yet." I said.
"That's the reason why we're going, dumb ass." Dad said teasingly.
I rolled my eyes which made him laugh.
"Thanks Dad." I said sarcastically before making my way towards my room. Did I mention that I have my own bathroom?
It took me thirty minutes to finish taking a bath which was fast enough for me. If my parents weren't in hurry, I'm pretty sure it will took me an hour.
I stare at my closet, scanning my clothes, thinking what I should wear today. I let out a deep sigh, and slumped myself against the bed.
"Damn. I don't know what to wear." I said while staring at the ceiling. I closed my eyes not thinking that I would slowly drift towards the dreamland.
"Lisa! Hurry up!"
My Mom's scream make me to go back in my senses. I quickly opened my eyes and walked towards the closet again. I just grabbed a jeans and a simple tee. I was putting my shoes on when mom called me once again. Aish. Why are they in a hurry? The school won't go anywhere and besides, it's just 10am.
"Coming!" I answered back. I grabbed favorite yellow Balenciaga hoodie and hurriedly walked downstairs. I noticed a black bag, sitting peacefully at the kitchen counter. I supposed that was my Mom's. She always have this habit of forgetting her things.
"What took you so long?" Dad asked.
"I got nothing to wear." I replied.
"What? But you have a lot of clothes!" He said.
"Honey, she's a girl. It's just normal for us." Mom said which made my Dad groaned in annoyance.
"Mom. You forgot your bag."
"Thanks sweetie."
I send her a small smile before going to the backseat of the car. I stare outside the car window and I saw the girl from yesterday. She is standing right at their garage while munching some chips. She waved at me and I just stare back at her which made her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
The car started to move and she's still staring at me while savoring her chips. I leaned back and put on my earphones and listen to my favorite artist, Niki. I closed my eyes, hoping that I can take even if just a short nap. I lose half of my strength when I helped moving those boxes.
I was about to reach the front door of the dreamland when I feel the car stopped. Is the school just a few blocks away? We haven't spent thirty minutes on the road yet.
I peep out of the window and I noticed that we are at a drive thru of a certain fast food chain.
"Uh, what are we doing here?" I asked.
"Just to grab some snack. We haven't eat yet. What do you guys want?" Mom asked.
"A triple cheeseburger with fries and a medium cola." Me and my dad said simultaneously. Our eyes widened and then laughter filled the whole car. My mom even said that I am really a carbon copy of my dad, because even when it comes to food, we still have the same taste.
We arrived at the school a few minutes later. So it means, it's really just a few blocks away from our house. We should just walked our way through here. But remembering that my parents are getting old, it really do make sense why we need a ride.
"Here we are!" Dad said enthusiastically.
"Busan International High school." I whispered to myself as I read the sign.
As we walked our way towards the school administration's office, I noticed that the uniform of these students are somewhat familiar to me. I furrowed my eyebrows trying to figure out where I saw that uniform but eventually, I gave up and just shrugged it off.
"Thank you for choosing our school Mr. and Mrs. Manoban." A man at his fifties said. I think he is the principal.
"Your welcome Mr. Yang Hyun Suk. Please take good care of our daughter." Dad said.
"Just call me YG. And don't worry, she's in good hands." He replied. He divert his attention towards me and gave a smile which send shivers down to my spine. I don't know why but I'm starting to dislike this guy.
Mr. YG gave us a tour around the school and I admit that this school is kind of huge. It has a nice cafeteria, and a lovely library which can be my hangout every free time. We passed by the garden and there, I saw red hair, our neighbor. Now I know why these uniforms are kind of familiar to me. This was what she's wearing when I saw her a little while ago.
"Let's go dear. Me and your Mom still need to visit your grandpa's restaurant. Do you want to come with us?" Dad asked.
"Nope. I'll just go home and take a rest." I said.
"Then we will drop you home before we go to the restaurant." Dad replied.
"No need Dad. I'll just walk. It's just few blocks from here anyway." I said.
I bid them goodbye and started walking my way home. It's really nice walking alone while listening to music. I don't know why I really love being alone. Maybe because I don't have to worry on what people will say to me?
I was startled when someone suddenly clings to my arm. I quickly took my earphones off and take a look who the culprit was because as far as I remember, I don't have any friends here in Busan and it's been just a day since we moved here.
"Hi neighbor!"
It was red-hair. She was smiling at me widely making her eyes became smaller. Now that I've got a closer look at this girl, I realized that she looks like something.
"Chipmunk." I blurted which made her surprised.
"What?" She said.
"You look like a chipmunk."
"Yah! I'm not!" She said and quickly hit my arm which made me winced in pain. She was also surprised on what she did and apologize to me quickly.
"Oh my God. I'm so sorry. I was just surprised because you are the first one who called me like that." She said.
"But you really look like a chipmunk." I said which made her eyebrows furrowed again. I lightly chuckled at her reaction.
"Whatever. Anyways, I'm Park Chaeyoung. You can call me Rosé." She said.
"Are you always like that?" I asked out of nowhere. I saw how her smile went slowly into a frown which made me feel guilty.
"I'm sorry if I offended you. It was just I'm not good at talking to people and you, you don't even know me but approach me without hesitation." I continued.
"Why? You don't like people being friendly to you?" She asked while staring at her arms clinging into mine. She was about to pull it out but I held it.
"Nah. I can get used to it." I replied.
I saw how the glow in her eyes came back. Her smile also came back into life which made me smile also.
"I never thought you can smile that wide." Rosé said teasingly. I can't blame her. I've been sending her small smiles since our eyes met for the first time.
"And I never thought that I would have a clingy neighbor." I replied which made her laugh.
"I still don't know your name." She said.
"Lisa. Lalisa Manoban."
"If you don't mind me asking, you're a foreigner right?"
"Yup. I'm from Thailand."
"Wow. But you speak Korean fluently. I mean how?"
"I used to watch a lot of Korean Dramas."
Rosé walked with me. She's so fun being with. I can remember my childhood friend from her, Bambam. Which I left at Thailand. She's jolly as him, and as clingy as him. I've learned that she is also in junior high like me, and I'm in the same class with her. Yes, all of our classes are the same which made me glad because I won't be sitting alone during my first day tomorrow.
"Lisa can we go there please?" Rosé said, pointing towards the convenience store. I let out a sigh and nodded. This girl can't really get enough of food.
She quickly went towards the chip section after we entered the store. I suddenly crave for a milk ice cream. I went to the ice cream section and found out that only one was still available. I guess luck is on my side.
Or it's not.
A pair of small and slender hands took the ice cream as the same time as me. I slowly take a look to the owner of the hands and I saw a girl with a cat-eyes. She was beautiful. She was staring at me intently. She has those dumpling like cheeks which made me want to pinch. And those pink lips that I wonder what would it... Wait. What the hell I am thinking? I'm not gay!
"Uhm. This is mine." She said. Her stares are slowly melting me down.
"I saw it first." I managed to reply without having my voice stuttered. Wait, why I am being nervous? You're just mesmerized by her beauty Lisa. That's all.
"But I've got it first." She replied and pulled the ice cream quickly which made me lose my grip. She rolled her eyes on me before going her way to the counter.
Weird.
"Who was that?" Rosé asked while holding four bags of chips.
"I don't know."
