377âI Guess I Am Going Back
Nora:
Everyone had been trying to convince Brody for hours to let me go, but he refused. They even
reminded him of the substantial money he would receive, but his answer remained the same.
I didnât want to bother talking to him. I didnât want to go back myself, so I was hoping he would stay
stubborn. Leaving would mean leaving my children behind, and I had no intention of abandoning
them to live in a pack where I didnât want to stay a single day more. It was crazy how I had once
desperately wanted to live in that pack, but now even the thought of it angered me.
After taking care of my babies, I left the room to see what was happening and found them still
gathered in the living room. But this time, there was someone else with them.
âFirst, you didnât tell my daughter you already had a mate, and now youâ ve disrespected her in front
of her?â It was Alpha Hues of the Crimson Hollow Pack.
I should have known Janet would contact her father soon and complain about her mistreatment in
the pack. I understood why she had been so nasty to me. Brody had lied to her about already
having an accepted mate that he was keeping as a slave. So I understood why she was annoyed.
He only told her that I once came here to be accepted by him but things didnât go that far between
us and he ended up not accepting me because of my pregnancy.
It surprised me that she still came back after finding out about his lies. But that didnât make Brody
appreciate her any more.

âIâm sorry. Our Alpha had already tossed that girl into the servant quarters. Itâs just that the recent
eventsâwhere she became such a fighter
didnât allow him to reject her. The pack and people who see her as a hero now would not take it well.
They rely on her for saving them if the mutants ever decide to enter the population. The fear they
once had is pretty much gone, and that is because of her,â the Royal Gamma explained the situation
to the man, while Brody leaned back in his chair with his thumb under his bottom lip, staring at Janet
angrily.
I could tell that Brody was upset with Janet for bringing her father here and confronting Brody.
âFine, thatâs the Alphas and their business. All I can do is ask my daughter to come home with me,
but she wants to stay here. However, that doesnât mean Iâll let him mistreat her,â Mr. Hues sounded
very annoyed and frustrated.
Of course he would be. The Alpha Brody who had won his heart turned out to be a liar, and now he
was giving his daughter a hard time and upsetting her left and right.
âJust let us know what you want us to do to ease your anger,â Jerry continued to sound respectful,
even though I could tell deep down he probably wanted to yell at Mr. Hues and kick him out.
Brody hadnât said a word, not even an apology to Janet. Rollo was
standing behind the couches, staring out the window with his arms folded over his chest.

âI want you to accept the offer from the Alpha Kings and send your warrior, or Luna, or whatever you
guys call her, to their pack. If they get upset, all our packs will be in trouble,â Mr. Hues muttered,
then his eyes traveled to me. I was standing in the doorway, waiting for someone to notice me.

They did.
Everyone followed his gaze except for Rollo, who seemed lost in his thoughts.
âI am not going to that pack,â I hissed, making my decision clear.
âNobody is going to ask you. We will decide and let you know,â Jerry said, giving me a look to step
out of the living room and not anger Mr. Hues further.

âLet her stay. She is part of this conversation,â Brody straightened his back and patted the empty
sofa beside him, making Janet look over at her father, who gave her a reassuring nod.
âItâs either she goes, or the Alpha King brothers will take action against your pack. I received a call
from Alpha King Cain today, and he didnât sound pleased with the performance of our warriors and
packs. It was clear to me that he was taking his frustration out on you for not sending her to his
pack. He even stated that if the performance didnât improve, he might have to review the battles we
conduct here,â Mr. Hues said. The minute he mentioned my battles, I saw Brody turn his head
toward him.
Rollo had finally snapped out of his thoughts and was now looking our way. I was pretty pissed at
Cain for doing this. He was now trying to use his power to make me go back home. But why? They
kicked me out and wanted me gone. Now that I was gone, he wanted me back?
