286âSomeone Cares Too Much
Nora:
I frowned, hastily typing another text. This was not fair. They had not right to mistreat me like this.
To accuse me like I was born a criminal. What the hell was wrong with them?
Me: You think I cause trouble?
I waited, but he never got back to me. At this point, I was getting so anxious that my breathing
became irregular. I was trying to calm myself but it wasnât working.
How do I make them respond to me? Should I yell at them, curse at them? That would make them
lose their temper with me.
As I paced around the terrace, my vision started to blur.
I didnât even notice when the door to my room opened and someone barged in
âHey, good morning. Iâm so sorry for leaving without informing you. There was an issue related to
the woods, and when I got home, I found the ladies in the garden. I quickly made my way to your
room to check on you because I know theyâre always making things diffââ As Brody. walked in and
rambled, he suddenly paused when I turned around to face him.
His eyes widened at the sight of me. I guess I was bleeding from my
nose.
He rushed in the moment my body began to collapse. As he carried me
in his arms, I slowly lost consciousness.
âRollo!â Brody yelled, laying me down on my bed. I was still slightly awake, only able to hear the
commotion around me.
âWhere the hell is Rollo? Ask him to come here!â Brody aggressively shouted at someone.
âNora! Please wake up, tell me whatâs wrong?â He was so lovingly running his hands through my
hair that I let go of my body and passed
out.
âI want to know who thought it was a good idea for you to show up at our door with your friends?â I
was in my sleep, but I could hear Brody speaking to someone,
âI thought I didnât need any permission to come here,â I recognized her voiceâit was April.
âYou do need to inform me because your presence stresses out Nora.â His voice was clear, and the
aggression in it was also quite evident.
âButâyou would kick out your cousin for her?â I heard the shock in her voice. I wanted to get up
and argue with her, but I knew I couldnât win against her. She would go ahead and tell my
stepbrothers I was the reason Brody was angry with her, and then they would come yelling at
1. me.
I donât know since when I became so scared of their anger, but I guess it has to do with the fact that
I wanted to return home. For that, I needed my stepbrothers to see me with the same affection they
used to before.
âHuh? April, donât act all innocent in front of me. Iâm not someone you can fool. I know you, and I
know Nora too. You and your friends.

always harass her, and when she reacts, you girls play the victim. But those games wonât work
here. You better tell your friends to pack their things and leave. I wonât allow Nora to take any stress
here. Donât forget, this is her pack now.â He wasnât yelling, probably because he didnât want to jolt
me awake, but the way he was talking to her was enough to let her know that Brody wasnât as
easily fooled as others.
âIâm saddened by the fact that youâre kicking me out like this. At least give us a few days to stay
here. I promise not to bother Nora. Iâll tell my friends too, but please, Iâve told Daphne so much
about how Iâm respected here. Now if you kick me out, what will she think of me?â She must have
been pouting. The pride in her voice had vanished now
too.
âFine. Iâll get you three one of the best hotels in my pack. But youâre not staying in this mansion. You
are like troublemakers that are sticking to Nora wherever she goes. And she is too innocent to play
you girls back. Too much stress isnât good for Nora, and I promised her that she wouldnât be
mistreated in her new pack.â The way he kept calling it my pack stunned me.
I kept my eyes shut tightly to let him deal with her himself.
