253âThe Bitter Ex Friends
Nora:
I had been locked away after they decided to put me through a forced transition. It was going to be
terrifying, and I wasnât prepared for it.
There were moments when I was confined to the bedroom that I considered running away. But
where would I go? I didnât have anyone out there who would accept me back without punishing me
for fleeing.
âWhere are the stepbrothers?â I asked myself, rubbing my palms anxiously.
As evening arrived, the door swung open and Lord Atwood walked in with Daphne, Natalya, and
Ford behind him.
âThis is the only way things will be resolved. The council is not ready to listen,â Lord Atwood
seemed so helpless as he spoke to me.
Of course, they wouldnât be able to do anything, especially when the pack members demand justice
for all the people the monsters have killed. And now he claimed I was one too. And most
importantly, that I was on his side.
âWhere are my stepbrothers?â I inquired, noticing Natalya rolling her eyes behind them.
âThe council had to send them away without revealing their plans. It would be awkward for you to
transition in front of them or go through all thatââ He paused, as if remembering something.
âWhat? They wonât be there when I am forced toâ,â my mouth hung

dry as I understood what was going to happen to me now that all my support had been stripped
away from me.
âSilas will be called back to the scene. Butââ Before Lord Atwood could say more, Ford stepped
forward to take over.
âBut donât rely on them. They wonât be foolish enough to side with someone whose father was
responsible for killing the monsters. They wonât risk upsetting their pack members and the council,â
he stopped speaking when Lord Atwood gave him a harsh glare.
âPlease help her get ready,â Lord Atwood said as he quickly covered his mouth, breaking down, and
rushed out of the room.
Ford went after him to check on him. They had taken my phone away, leaving me no way to contact
my stepbrothers at this point.
âHmph! Remember the humiliation you caused me when you told everyone I tried to kill you?â
Daphne folded her arms over her chest, forcing me to confront her expression of satisfaction.
âSee! This is what happens when you become too cocky,â she smirked.
âYou know, I didnât even realize how easy it would be to get back at you. I was considering lying and
making them give you this test. Little did I know, it was important that you go through with it
because there was some truth to it.â They seemed so pleased watching my downfall.
What had I ever done to them?
If anything, they were dating my fated mates. They were wronging me, but of course, the moon
goddess would never side with me. She would always choose them over me since I am just a
monster.
âI canât wait for you to leave this mansion forever. You donât deserve

this love and affection. This was supposed to be our place,â Natalya pointed a finger at her chest as
she glared at me.
I didnât expect anything from Daphne because she had never been at friend to me. But Natalya
deeply disturbed me, making it almost impossible for me to trust anyone again. I did everything for
her except give her my mate.
âOur friendship meant that little to you? If you couldnât date Cain, would you still be friends with
me?â My voice broke as I wanted her to explain how she only cared about being in a relationship
with Cain.
âCry about it,â Daphne commented with a laugh.
âYour friendship? A friend would do anything to make her friend happy. But what did you do? You
told Cain not to paint me. I saw you do that. Why would you do that and then tell me he wanted to
paint me just to embarrass me? What was all that about?â Natalyaâs voice turned heavy almost
instantly.
âYou were so thrilled to have a new family and stepbrothers that the
idea of sharing them scared you and turned you into an evil witch,â she finished with a scoff, then
wiped away the tear that was about to fall down her cheek.
