_________
Rhea is sitting in her room, as she gulped looking down at the pile of books, chart paper, colourful pens, highlighters, project paper and stickers. She shifted her eyes to the calendar which marked, after 3 days her school is reopening.
She sat silently for few minutes unaware how to start and where to start. She picked up her phone and read the message which was sent to her 3 weeks back.
"Who can help me right now?" She whispered to herself. Isha? Nah, her own work won't be complete, then Anaya? Nah, she is science student and so is Kritika.
Haan. Jay bhaiya and Krish bhaiya, they both can help me in preparing this. She dailed Jay's number and chew her nails nervously. Please pick it up bhaiya. Please!!!
After 3 rings, he picked the call. Before she could even greet, his voice came, impatient. "Rhea, can we talk later? Please, I am working on my project right now."
"Haan sure bhaiya." Her voice sounded sad and hopeless. "I am so sorry, Rhea. I will make it up to you later." He apologized
"Bhaiya, it's alright. Don't be sorry." Rhea said. She hung up the call then dailed Krish's number.
She waited for few minutes but he didn't picked it up then she tried again for twice-thrice times but still the reply from the other side was same. "The person you are trying to call is currently busy. Please try again later."
Her hopes ended at the moment as she threw her phone on the bed, she ruffled her hairs exhaustedly. "Why am I seeking help now when it is my fault for not doing this before."
I spent my whole vacation doing nothing.
Tears swelled into her eyes. "How will I complete it before 16th June?" She asked to herself in low voice.
Soon her mind blinked with a idea, "Yash, voh meri help Kar sakhte hain. Unhone apna project complete kar bhi diya hoga." She said with a temporary hope as her next thought shattered it. "But he is in science."
[Yash, he can help me with it and he must have completed his own project.]
"But I can try to convince him, right?" She licked her dry lips as she stood up and moved towards her bed to pick up her phone.
She unlocked her phone and with a deep sigh she called Yash. She bite her lips making it little swollen as she waiting for him to answer. The phone rang several time before his deep voice echoed in her ears. "Rhea."
Her heart started to fasten up hearing her name from his mouth. When she replied him back he asked. "Hello? Rhea?...are you there?" She flinched hearing his voice. "Ha-haan, hey."
"You called? Is everything alright?" He asked. "Yes, everything's fine. I just need a favour from you."
"Yes, say." He said, his voice soft.
"You do know that we got projects from the school to do in vacation?" He hummed at her question asking her to continue. "So actually I... I haven't started any of my project yet." She hesitated.
She closed her eyes when she heard a deep sighed from the other side, she knows that he is disappointed about it as he always reminded her to complete her task.
"So... can you please help me with completing it?" She request with a feeling that he will agree. When there was no reply from his side, she again asked. "Yash, please!! From next time onwards I will complete it before it is given."
"And how many times have you said this?" He asked making her recall all the times when she requested others to help her. She stayed silent as he continued. "What if I help you this time and then next time you will repeat the same thing and the cycles goes on."
She did knew that she is wrong for completing her own work and then depending on others. "When will you learn to be responsible?" He asked.
She stayed for a longer moment and said with low voice. "Sorry... I will complete it by my own."
Yash rubbed his palm on his face. "I am coming." He hung up after saying if.
He.... agreed? He agreed? HE AGREED? thank godddd!!!!
She knew it would take him less than twenty minutes to reach her house. She wandered her gaze to check that her room was clean and tidy.
She turned back around to see her reflection in the mirror. "Hey bhagwan! Yeh kya hulya banake rakha hain maine apna." She said as her eyes roam at her attire reflecting in the mirror and then her eyes moved to hair that were messy and tangled after she ruffled it.
[Oh god! What a mess I have created of myself.]
In a quick moment she changed her outfit to a white crop top and black sweatpants. She picked the comb from the table and started to untangle her hair with a hiss. "Ouch! Do every girl face this hair tangling problem? It is so unfair that boys are so silky and smooth even after not doing any type of hair care and look over here after having a hair care routine." She complained to herself.
After she was done untangling her hair, she tied her hairs in low and loose ponytail. She then waited for his arrival.
Five minutes later, a door bell was heard as she hurriedly ran out of her room to approach the door with a bright smile but halted when she saw her elder brother standing infront of Yash with the door open.
She then with slow steps approached, she waved her hand excitedly to Yash while smiling brightly and Yash smiled back. Seeing Yash smile, her brother turned around to face her.
"He is Yash. Actually I needed help in project so I called him." She said to her brother, who nodded and then move aside. Without giving much attention to them, he moved back to his room and slammed the door.
She turned to face Yash who was still standing on the doorstep. "Come inside." She said opening the door wide open.
After removing his shoes, be stepped inside as his eyes roamed around. His eyes stopped at a big photo frame which was hung above the sofa. The photo had Rhea, her elder brother, a lady who looked old and shared similar facial features with Rhea, her mom and a man who had beard and his eyes twinning Rhea's brother as he smiled, her dad.
He turned his focus to the walking figure infornt of him that was shorter than him as she leads him to her room. As he stepped inside the room, a sweet fruity fragrance caught his attention. He looked down at the books kept on table with the materials that is required for the project making.
She pushed the chair infront of him asking him to settle which he accepted and sat while she sat on the bed facing him. "Water, tea, coffee or anything?" She asked.
"No it's fine." He refused politely.
"What do you mean no? I will bring it wait." She made her way out of the room even though he refused.
He moved his gaze around her study table as he found some sticky notes stick on the wall with some motivational quotes written on it.
Wait this sticky notes and this handwriting. He thought to himself as he graze his fingers on top of it. It can't be, she must be having similar handwriting and everyone have such sticky notes. It is just a coincidence.
Then some photos kept on the nightstand caught his eyes as he raised from his seat and moved to towards it. He bent down to take a clear view.
One photo had her standing in middle while grinning as her parents kissed her cheeks from side. Second photo had her piggyback riding her brother as they grinned whole heartedly. "Such a pretty family." He whispered to himself.
When he heard the footsteps coming upstairs, he quickly moved back to his seat as Rhea entered the room with two cups of coffee. She handed him one as he thanked her.
She handed her phone to him as their hands touched for a short moment with the message opened about the project details. "I know you are a science student but maybe you can help me with it by collecting information and all from Google, Wikipedia, etc."
Does he feel the same way I do or is it just me?
He nodded and his eyes scanned the messaged throughly. "Fine. Let's start, don't worry it will be done before school starts."
She beamed in relief after thanking him
___________
Anaya let out a exhausted sighed after she closed her file and put it on other two files. She leaned back against the chair while rubbing her temples. After drinking water, she placed the files aside, aligning them.
"Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Done." She exclaimed after counting them. She stretched her body as soft sound of joints cracking came.
She stood up from her chair and then layed on bed as the comfort and softness of mattress embraced her. "Swarg."
[Heaven.]
She then took out her phone from under the pillow which she kept to avoid distractions. She opened her phone and connected the wifi and soon her phone flooded with messages and missed calls.
But one particular name caught her attention, Karan. She opened his messages to see ten different messages sent to her at different time.
Karan: Hey â°â´â¢â°â´
Karan: Hellooooo!!!!! â°â´â¢Â¹â°
Karan: Jindo ho? Roj toh turant message back karti ho. â°â´â¢Â²â°
[Are you alive? Usually you message right back.]

Karan: Have I done something? â°â´â¢Â²â¶
Karan: Atleast seen toh kardo taki pata chale ki tumhe message mil gaya. â°â´â¢Â²â¸
[Atleast see the message so that I can get to know I know you have received it.]
Karan: Are you genuinely not seeing it or ignoring me like past days? â°â´â¢Â³Â¹
Karan: Miss, I am sorry if I have done something. â°â´â¢Â³Â²
Karan: Still not seen? â°âµâ¢Â³â°
Karan: Atleast message me once. â°âµâ¢Â³â°
Karan missed call â°âµâ¢Â³â°
Karan missed call â°âµâ¢Â³âµ
Karan missed call â°âµâ¢â´â¹
She let out a deep sigh, not knowing whether to call him or not. So instead of calling him back, she decided to reply back to his messages.
Anaya: heyy! â°â¶â¢â°âµ
Anaya: Mujhe kuch nahi hua, it's just my health is bad. â°â¶â¢â°âµ
[Nothing happened to me, it's just my health is bad.]
Anaya: No you have not done something. Don't be sorry. â°â¶â¢â°â¶
Anaya: I didn't actually saw messages as I was completing the homework so I kept my phone on silent and aside. Sorry about it. â°â¶â¢â°â¶
Anaya: I am not ignoring you. â°â¶â¢â°â·
I am just maintaining some distance from you and I also don't know why. She thought.
Without any further delay, Karan saw the messages and replied back.
Karan: Sure? Everything's fine? â°â¶â¢â°â¸
Anaya: Haan. â°â¶â¢â°â¸
Karan: okay â°â¶â¢â°â¹
Karan: Take care of your health â°â¶â¢â°â¹
Anaya: Hmm... â°â¶â¢Â¹â°
With this she tossed her phone aside as the memory of him and Kavya surfaced on her mind. When she closed her eyes, the image of them holding hands and laughing played inside her head making her abruptly opened her eyes.
Should I tell him? She wince thinking what if he actually moved on.
________
To help Isha with her task, Krish sat in her room with the materials surrounding him as he fixed his glass while searching on the phone for the details.
His focus broke when a sweet and soft voiced reached his ears. "Yeh complete ho jaega?"
[Do you think this will be completed?]
Krish looked at with a gentle stare and nodded. "Look we have already completed BST." He said pointing towards the bundle of papers kept aside.
"Now only Economics and Accountancy is remaining and we have already started it." He looked at the papers kept infront of him with a big title 'Accountancy'. "Yet we still have two days. So can we take a break now?"
"My backs hurting a lot." He said, resting his hand on his waist and arching the back as a soft yet loud cracking sound was heard making him shock and straighten his back as Isha laughed.
"Sure, we will complete this tomorrow." Isha said, packing up all the things and Krish helping her. Krish picked up the books and on the study table when a think navy blue book piqued his interest which was kept at lowest position and another 6-7 books on top of it.
"Do you mind if I go through this book?" Krish asked Isha. He pointed at the stack of books making Isha confused that which book is he pointing at. So she agreed.
Isha saw Krish pulling the navy blue book out as her eyes widened. He had already pulled it out and was about to go through it when Isha snatched it from his hands making him surprise.
While snatching, a photo and a flower fell on the floor. Luckily for her, the photo fell showing it's white side. Her eyes widened and she quickly took the photo in her hand and hide it somewhere.
The dry-old flower took Krish's notice as bent down to pick it up. "Isha, what was this? At first you agreed then this?" He asked standing up.
"I am sorry, I thought you were pointing at something else." She apologised awkwardly.
Krish brought the flower infront of his eyes as he examined it. The flower was dry, cranky and dull, it was so fragile that it would shattered into pieces by just one touch. "How old is this?"
"Nine-ten years." She answered with a soft smile.
"Who gave you this and why are you keeping it with you?" He asked making her smile fell. Something broke.
"You don't remember?" She whispered in low-dry voice. He didn't heard her words and asked her to repeat.
"Someone gave me this, he also said I am cute and pretty just like this flower and it was the first time someone said something to me like this and I wanted to cherish it, so I preserved it." She explained.
"Who is that someone?" He asked while chuckling.
"My friend." Her replied made his chuckle fell silent as he stared at her while her eyes were looking at the flower.
________
'Izhu." He called her from behind while running.
She turned around to see him running with a joyful smile on his face and a flower swinging in his little hands.
"My name is not Izhu, it is Ishanvi." She complained, folding her arms.
"But I will call you Izhu." He smiled, showing a gap in his mouth.
"Where is your tooth?" She asked.
"Oh it fell." He said, closing his mouth tightly. "Look I found a flower."
He showed the flower to her. Infront of her vision a pink delicate flower with round petals appeared.
"It is so pretty." She tried to touch it but he pulled it back making her frown.
"Wait." He went forward and decorated the flower behind her ear as he watched how the colour of the flower matched the dress she was wearing.
She touched it as a strong yet gentle sweet and subtle smell fragrance reached her nose and a soft, velvety and smooth texture of the flower came in contact with her hand.
"The flower is just like you." He said, ruffling her hair as she scrunched her nose and shooed him away making him laugh. "Pretty and cute just like you."
She felt shy and showed the appreciation. "Thank you."
Few hours later, when she reached her home, she dashed towards her towards making her parents chuckle.
She opened her navy blue book with had photos of her in it, she place the flower in middle of it.
"I will always keep this." She beamed happily.
