10: Cry of Injustice
The Mad Consort's Second Life
If there is one thing he knows about the man he loves is that he hates boredom, and anything that fills the need for excitement the emperor's eyes would have this strange gilter.
Oh his bored beloved how he will keep him entertained, he won't be bored no more.
The Noble Lady Chen had already gone to the physician and indeed he had confirmed the Honourable Consort Jia's madness now he says otherwise, this can't be.
"Imperial physician! You said the Honourable Consort Jia was mad!! Now you're telling lies!!"
"I had confirmed the Honourable Consort Jia's health may not be the best after childbirth, I've never confirmed that the Honourable Consort Jia is mad, how dare a mere servant as I slander his hus most Honourable one's name?"
"Lies! You deceive me! Your imperial majestyâ"
"You've said enough," he said with a hand raised, silencing her.
The Noble Lady swallows, shallowly clutching at her hem, this was not good, this was not good for. The emperor looks at the Noble Lady Chen, he could already guess this was a set up a well thought out plan he then looks at the Honourable Consort Jia, but was he capable of such a well placed trap?
No, the Honourable Consort is too naive for that. He understood the personality of the Honourable Consort Jia but if so could someone be working behind the wheels? He is intrigued.
The Honourable Consort Jia sniffles, "Sister Chen, why are you bullying me? We are brother and sister are we not, we share a husband don't we? Why?"
Noble Lady Chen was nervous, how did it go wrong?! The emperor looks at the servant who raises her head at his hand movement.
"You're a servant of the Honourable Consort Jia, tell us if what the Noble Lady Chen said is true?"
The servant is scared, her body trembles in terror. She looks around she wants to deny but the Noble Lady Chen's eyes were terrifying; she didn't dare go against her.
"Your Imperial Majesty, what the Noble Lady Chen says is true," she kowtowed with tears.
"And what made you so sure?"
"O-on the day of the Honourable Consort Jia's sudden spring of madness h-heâ believe your imperial majesty I don't dare lie but he threatens to drown the young prince". She stutters.
Everyone grasps, soon they begin whispering, questioning the Honourable Consort Jia's madness. The emperor pauses his mood shifts a bit, "servant girl, are you aware of the words coming from your mouth?"
The servant girl soon slaps her chest, "I am aware, your imperial majesty! But this servant would never like the Honourable Consort Jia started to shuffle screaming to take the young prince away and if we did not he would drown him!" She announced.
The emperor looks at the tearfully Honourable Consort Jia, "my Consort do you have any explanation?"
"Imperial Husbandâ no! Your imperial majesty! Why would I, a first time mother, threaten the life of my son? I don't want him to leave my side. I've missed him so much but to keep my baby in good health I've decided to give him to you, his father because I know if he remains in the mansion while I'm unwell it will hinder his health. Now my caution is used as a weapon!!! Father, are you seeing this?" He pleads.
The emperor soon raises from the throne the guards bow but soon he signals his hands for them to raise, he walks up to the Honourable Consort Jia holding his chin gently then uses his thumb and gently wipes the tearful cheeks.
"Enough crying, why do you keep crying?" The emperor chuckles, tasting the tears on his thumb.
"Imperial husband, should I not cry for my injustice?" The Honourable Consort Jia sobs
"You're not a baby, I won't let you face injustice. So stop crying now," He hushes sweetly.
"Why?" He complains.
"Okay, okay I understand,"
He soon turns to the servant girl who falls back, "is there proof?"
"Ling! You were the one to deliver the young princâ"
"I delivered the young prince because my Honourable Master is not feeling well and requested I do so, why would he threaten the young prince, you dare slander his most Honourable one's name?!" Ling said scornfully.
The servant girl trembles, "liars! Liars! I am telling the truth your imperial majesty,"
"With all this chatter and no proof, what should I believe?" The emperor said unempathetic
"The flowers! the flowers in the gardâ"
"Was use to make colour for the bandages wrapping the honourable master's arm,"
Everyone could see the pretty pink colour of the bandage. Everyone knew the Honourable Consort Jia was creative and quirky and that was one of the many reasons the emperor had a fondness for him.
The servant girl was at a loss, she had no way of defending herself. The emperor sees this, it seems this issue is close, the Noble Lady Chen then drags at the hem of the emperor. "Wait! your imperial majesty!"
"Hands off," he said glaring at her as she trembled, let go.
He gently holds the Honourable Consort Jia's hand guiding him up to the throne he sits in, then pulls Jia Hui Liang into his lap, then rests his head on to his shoulder gently stroking it. He raises another hand and then utters.
"For slandering my Honourable Consort Jia's great name you Noble Lady Chen shall be strip of your rank as Noble Lady and know know as Lady of Talents Chen, you will also be strip of all accessories and punished to wear plain clothes then be send to the temple for three months and there you shall pray and clense yourself of those wretched thoughts and will mostly be fed bread and water," he said.
The Noble Lady Chen's colour flushes, she wants to complain she can't do anything she bows, "thank you for your mercy, imperial majesty".
The emperor then looks at the servant girl then at his Consort, "as for the servant girl, flogg her to death we don't need such foolary in my palace again,"
"Your imperial majesty! Your imperial majesty!"
The guards soon begin to drag her away as the emperor raises his hand to signal the dismissal of the entire room.
