Thank you so much for the support! Here's a little something for you. ð
Jimin stared out the car window. The scenery taking away all his attention, until he felt Jungkook's hand touch his, bringing him back to reality and away from his thoughts.
Jungkook glanced at his boyfriend with a soft smile, slightly tightening his hold on his hand, Jimin squeezing his hand back just as tight, and the both of them continued to think about the day's events.
It was a very long day of filming for them. A day where their relationship had set in. By now they had told the company about their relationship, so the staff working with them had an idea about it, and Jimin and Jungkook were still able to be themselves around cameras, but only a little though.
So that day, it was no wonder to Jungkook how Jimin had acted.
"Baby!" Jungkook yelled, going over to where Jimin was having a sip of water during his small break and wrapping his arms around his waist from behind.
Jimin put his water aside, and turned around in Jungkook's arms, breaking the latter's hold on him in the process. "Jungkookie, not here." He whispered, his eyes going a little wide with panic.
Frowning, Jungkook removed his hold completely from around his boyfriend. "What? What's wrong?" The maknae said, looking around them to see if anyone was filming.
"Just- don't call me baby here. I'm sorry, but just don't." Jimin whispered with his eyebrows pulled together in a guilty frown.
Jungkook took a step back. "Oh. Sorry. I'm just used to it, hyung." He said, giving Jimin a soft smile, and hiding the fact that he was hurt Jimin didn't want to be affectionate with him in public- or semi public, not forgetting about the fact that they had agreed at the start of their relationship that Jimin wouldn't call Jungkook by his name alone, and Jungkook wouldn't call Jimin hyung.
"It's alright. Are you finished with your shoot? Can we go to the next location now?" Jimin asked, changing the subject so he didn't have to focus on the feeling of guilt.
"Yeah, let's go, hyung." Jungkook shrugged, raising his arm to wrap around Jimin's waist to lead him out of the crowded room, only to put it back down. "Let's just- yeah." He mumbled, walking in front of Jimin and out of the room.
Jimin didn't let himself pout about the fact that Jungkook had called him hyung twice in less than a minute, and went to follow his dongsaeng to their shared car.
At least they still had that.
"Hey, you got a minute?" Hoseok went over to Jimin, trying to be discreet.
"Yeah, sure. What's up?" Jimin replied, putting his cardigan on just before they would start filming again.
"Can we team up this time? I heard from my manager that there's a dancing segment this episode, and if we're in the same team we'll definitely win!" Hoseok explained, looking at Jimin excitedly, waiting for him to say yes.
Jimin frowned. "But that doesn't mean we'll surely win, Hobi hyung, and I think that's cheating." He pointed out, raising his eyebrows at Hoseok. "Come on, you were an honest man. What happened?" He teased, lightly slapping the older on the shoulder.
"Oh, it's not that deep. Please, Jiminie, let's team up!" Hoseok tried to convince, putting both his hands on Jimin's shoulder and shaking him.
Jimin rolled his eyes. "But hyung, it's not our choice who gets to team up with who." He pointed out once again, only to be met with a mischievous smile, one that Jimin rarely saw on Hoseok.
"That's what I told my manager, but he told me it's optional this time." Hoseok convinced. "Come on, Jiminie. Please?"
"Hey." Jimin murmured softly, sitting down on the pillow next to Jungkook.
Jungkook turned to Jimin, giving him a soft smile. "Jiminie hyung." He nodded in a greeting, just before the director started filming.
After ten minutes of explaining how this episode was going down, the staff explained to the members the rules and left them to pick their partners.
Jungkook turned to Jimin expectantly, already assuming they would team up, only to find Hoseok in front of him. "Jungkookie, switch seats with me please. I wanna team up with Jiminie." Their hyung quickly explained, waiting for Jungkook to get up so he could sit in his seat.
"Oh? I thought-" Jungkook stammered, pointing at himself and Jimin in confusion, and then looking at his boyfriend.
"I'm sorry, Jungkookie. Hobi hyung wanted to team up with me this time." Jimin quickly explained, not wanting Jungkook to think this was his planning, even though it took a lot of pressure off of him and he felt slightly relieved, he didn't want Jungkook to feel abandoned.
Jungkook got up from his seat with a sigh. "It's alright. I know everyone is in love with my boyfriend. I get it." He joked, making Hoseok laugh and Jimin's eyes to go wide.
"Jungkook!" Jimin whisper shouted, giving his boyfriend a warning look.
Slightly agitated, Jungkook held eye contact, annoyance clear on his face. "What?" He snapped quietly with a shrug, going to Hoseok's seat that was two seats over, and sitting down with a huff.
Jimin covered his face in frustration.
Jimin walked into the room, closing the door behind him, in a weak attempt at the smallest amount of privacy. Anyone could walk into this room in the need of food and drinks, and Jimin hoped no one would for just a few minutes, maybe just until he could make up with his boyfriend.
Creeping up behind Jungkook, Jimin took quiet steps towards Jungkook, after he had closed the door softly. He slowly leaned against Jungkook's back and wrapped his arms around his waist from behind. "I know I messed up." He whispered, leaning his head on Jungkook's shoulder and closing his eyes. "I'm paranoid, I know. I'm sorry."
"Can I turn around and hug you properly and maybe give you a kiss? Or am I not allowed?" Jungkook sassed, spreading the butter a little too aggressively on his toast.
With Jimin's hold still around his boyfriend's waist he turned him around. "I already closed the door."
Jungkook rolled his eyes, putting his untouched toast aside. "Alright." He sighed, leaning down a little and leaving a soft kiss on Jimin's forehead. "I missed you, baby." He admitted, leaning down again to give Jimin an actual kiss that Jimin pulled away from too soon. "Wow, so I'm really not allowed. Okay."
Jimin guiltily looked up at Jungkook. "I'm sorry, Jungko-"
"It's okay. It alright." He patted Jimin on the head awkwardly, not knowing how to touch his boyfriend without triggering him. "Can you just try to help me understand why you're this paranoid? I know it's a huge risk if word gets out that we're dating, plus the fact that you're not comfortable with coming out. I already know all of that, but can you tell me what's actually wrong?" Jungkook asked, his tone laced with concern, eyes filled with worry.
"I-It's just-" Jimin sighed. "I was on twitter the other day." He began to explain.
"Oh." Jungkook breathed out, finally understanding why Jimin was distancing himself.
"They know, Jungkookie." Jimin said, eyes wide with fear. "We're too obvious. We have to stop flirting in front of the cameras, and you can't slip up and call me baby too, and then we need to stop being so touchy with each other too, cause what if-"
"Hey. Hey." Jungkook interrupted, holding Jimin's head still, and stopping his breathless rambling with a quick peck. "I know what you're talking about. I saw those accounts too."
Jimin frowned in confusion. "You did?"
"Yeah. You know what else I saw?" Jungkook asked, brushing Jimin's hair back gently.
Jimin's shoulder slightly relaxed with his boyfriend's touch. "What?" He breathed.
"These accounts were made even before we started dating, babe." Jungkook informed, continuing to play with Jimin's hair. "They have been supporting us even before the start. Can you imagine? And they would continue to support us even if we never come out, 'cause they believe in our love for each other, and they know that the love we have for each other doesn't need to be labelled." He explained with a calm voice, seeing Jimin's frown disappearing.
Looking up with wide eyes at his boyfriend, Jimin whispered in wonder. "Really?"
"Yeah, really." Jungkook whispered back. "You know what else?" He asked, taking his arms from around Jimin's shoulders and wrapping them around his waist instead.
Jimin smiled a little, being pulled really close to Jungkook. "What?"
"There's other accounts for all of us; Yoongi hyung with Taehyung hyung, Jin hyung with Joonie hyung, Yoongi hyung with Hobi hyung, even one with me and Taehyung hyung, and you mister have multiple ones with each one of us." Jungkook pointed out, using his index finger to point at Jimin's chest.
Giggling, Jimin covered his mouth, his cheeks going scarlet. "Wait, really?"
Jungkook nodded, his face splitting into a huge grin as an instant reaction to Jimin's giggle. "Yes, really. So you can calm down and show love and affection to your amazing boyfriend all you want without being paranoid. I don't want you to think a hundred times before you approach me or touch me." He rolled his eyes playfully, getting slapped on the shoulder right after.
"But we still can't be overly affectionate, lovely, okay? We're still surrounded by cameras, so maybe when we're all alone like this we can do whatever we want?" Jimin reminded, raising an eyebrow at his Jungkook expectantly.
Jungkook looked around the room quickly. "Whatever we want, you say?"
"Jungkook."
"Mhm?"
"Let's go back. I think they're waiting for us to continue filming." Jimin managed to let out, trying to break out of his boyfriend's strong hold and sweet kisses. It was tempting he couldn't lie, but he still couldn't take the risk; a staff might be on their way to call them out, and they can't find them like this; Jungkook's head tucked into Jimin's neck, leaving kisses there and a few soft bites along the way, just to tease. Even though the staff had been informed of their relationship, knowing about it was one thing and seeing them like this, was an entirely different thing.
Jungkook didn't budge, instead opting to travel down to Jimin's collarbones. "That's- Jimin-ssi, that's a lot to ask of me right now."
"I'm serious. Let's go, Jungkook." Jimin said in the most assertive tone he could use at the state he was in, which might have been a little more than he intented, making Jungkook still in the same position they were in.
It took Jungkook five seconds to pull away, fixing Jimin's t-shirt collar, and pulling away from him completely, his arm that was circling Jimin's back a second ago went falling by his side, letting the cold air pass through Jimin's shirt to his back again, which had the effect of him shivering slightly. Jungkook brushed his own hair back. "Sorry." He almost whispered, and walked to the door in long strides, leaving Jimin to drag a hand down his face with a sigh.
Jimin had no choice but to walk behind Jungkook, forcing a smile on his face when he went to sit beside Hoseok once again, glancing at his boyfriend discreetly, expecting a sad face, but instead he saw a mix of hurt and anger there.
I went to make up with him only to fuck up more huh?
The entire process of filming consisted of Jimin trying to joke around with Jungkook, taking every chance he could get to make his boyfriend look at him, talk to him, or smile at him. It took a while until Jungkook's face didn't look so hurt anymore, and he started to tease Jimin back.
Even if it didn't take long for Jungkook's feelings to get hurt again.
"Good job everyone! See you tomorrow!" The director yelled, and that was their cue to get up and go home. The boys bowed to their staff on their way out, and one by one they got into their cars to go home.
Jungkook cracked his neck left and right, his backpack on his shoulder, walking alongside Jimin on their way to the car, not saying anything until they got in the car.
Once Jimin sat down in the car, he threw his head back and closed his eyes with a sigh.
"Everything okay?" Jungkook asked softly.
Jimin lolled his head to look at Jungkook. "Yeah." He sighed again.
"You keep sighing though?" The younger one smiled, lifting his left brow in a teasing manner.
"I just wanna be teleported to bed, you know that feeling?" Jimin smiled, albeit a bit tiredly in return, and closed his eyes again.
"Yeah." Jungkook answered, leaning back himself and looking out the window, feeling their driver turn on the engine, and off they went home.
Jungkook walked out of the bathroom and into their room, having just taken a shower and changed, he went to pull the curtains closed, looking over his shoulder at Jimin, who was sitting on their bed on top of the covers scrolling through his phone. If Jungkook had to guess, he'd say twitter. "Wanna talk?" He had to ask, his tone serious, not scared or timid. He had to be straight forward if he wanted Jimin to open up to him about his fears, and at the same time he needed to be gentle.
Jimin looked up from his phone at Jungkook, and his eyes moved with the latter's movement, who crawled into bed until he was close enough to take Jimin's phone right out of his hands, and locking it after glancing at the screen and confirming his assumption. Jimin was on twitter again. "Huh?" Was let out of Jimin's mouth when he couldn't comprehend what Jungkook had asked just a second ago, and his boyfriend didn't mind his absent mindedness, he just wanted to help.
"Hey, baby." After taking Jimin's phone and plugging it in the charger on his bedside, Jungkook turned to Jimin and gently brushed his hair away from his forehead, his hand making it's way to Jimin's cheek after. "You okay?" He asked softly with a smile, his face being illuminated by the only light in the room which was Jimin's night light after Jungkook had shut the curtains.
Smiling tiredly, Jimin nodded his head holding Jungkook's hand that was on his cheek.
"You want a hug?" Jungkook raised his eyebrows in question, his other arm open wide for Jimin to be wrapped up in, the older not hesitating to lean his whole body forward to fall on Jungkook, his head resting on his chest.
Without saying a word Jungkook wrapped Jimin up tightly, feeling how tense his boyfriend's body was, and he couldn't help but wonder what Jimin saw on twitter that had led to them having this moment right now.
"Baby?"
"Hmm?"
"Where are we right now? At this moment?" Jungkook asked, looking down at Jimin, who by now had looked up at him in confusion.
"What do you mean? We're home?" Jimin frowned, not getting what Jungkook was aiming at.
"And where are we in our home?" Jungkook continued to ask, confusing Jimin even more.
Jimin pulled away from Jungkook, and sat comfortably on his lap instead, so he could have a better look at Jungkook's face. "Kookie, I don't und-" He stopped when Jungkook gave him a look that said to just go along with it. "In our room?" He asked, unsure.
"And can anyone go into this room without our permission?" The younger continued his questioning, making eye contact with Jimin to reassure him.
"No, Jungkookie. Can you tell me why you're asking all of that?" Jimin whined, pulling on Jungkook's shirt.
"Alright then. Repeat after me. We're home, we're alone in our room, and no one can get here without our permission, baby, even the hyungs are gonna have to knock before they come in here. Now, say it, okay?" Jungkook urged softly, holding Jimin's head in both hands, stroking his hair a few times, in an attempt to make him relax.
Jimin sighed, and his body began to relax. "We're home, we're in our room, and no one can get here without our permission." He said, his body going completely lax, his shoulders sagging in relief.
"Now breathe with me, baby. It's okay. No one is here. No one can know without your permission. Everything is alright." Jungkook smiled assuredly, his hands dropping to wrap around Jimin's back, his hands going in circles to loosen his tense muscles.
Breathing in through his nose, and out through his mouth, Jimin closed his eyes and focused on Jungkook's voice, and when he opened his eyes again his vision was blurry with unshed tears, and just before Jungkook could notice them, Jimin pulled on his hold that was still on Jungkook's shirt, and kissed him like he was his lifeline, and maybe he really was.
Jungkook gasped softly, but didn't hesitate in pulling Jimin closer to him. It wasn't possible for them to get any closer than they already were, and in just a few seconds Jungkook's head became empty, all his thoughts erased, and all he knew was how his body was burning with urgent need to pull Jimin closer and closer until they could mold into each other, he wanted to hide his love from the world. He wanted to hide Jimin, lock him away, not taking the chances of any word Jimin might read or hear, not taking the chances of him not being right there to stop the words from getting to Jimin's head, 'cause god forbid Jimin ever thinking he was any less than the man he was, any less than the man Jungkook fell in love with. Jungkook felt helpless for the first time in his life when he felt tear drops falling on his cheek that weren't his, because he didn't know what to do, except for maybe throwing Jimin's phone in the Han river. Would it be okay then? Would his love not be in his arms right now, crying, and hurting in his hold?
Jungkook didn't know many things, but he knew he wasn't letting Jimin go anytime soon.
Rolling over in bed, Jungkook couldn't feel a small body next to his, because if Jimin was still in bed, he would've crushed him by now by rolling over.
Snapping his eyes open, he looked around the room to find it empty, and with a glance to the digital clock he found it was past ten am already.
Jungkook threw the covers away, and put on his slippers. "Jiminie?" He called into the bathroom, only to find it empty too. "Jimin!" He called again, walking to the kitchen, and he heard Jimin's giggle. "Baby!" He whined going over to Jimin who was standing by the counter, laughing at something Hoseok probably said.
Before Jimin could turn around, Jungkook had wrapped him up in a back hug. "Hey." He greeted softly, rubbing Jungkook's hands that were wrapped around his shoulders. "Good morning, lovely."
"No." Jungkook whined. "Why aren't you in bed? That was not a good morning. Let's start it over again!" He continued to whine, burying his head in Jimin's neck.
"Jungkookie, it's way past ten. I tried to wake you up but you wouldn't budge and I eventually got bored." Jimin said with a laugh, turning his head to try and look at Jungkook. "And you say you can't sleep without me, huh."
"Guys, I know it's almost the afternoon, but it's way too early to be this gross in front of me, come on!" Hoseok complained, taking a sip of his coffee with an eyeroll.
Jungkook raised his head from Jimin's neck to glare at Hoseok. "You." He pointed at him accusingly.
Hoseok put a hand on his chest in a questioning manner. "Oh? Me? What?" He stuttered with a nervous laugh.
"Yes, you. You stole Jiminie hyung from me yesterday!" Jungkook continued to accuse, still pointing at Hoseok.
Hoseok spluttered. "You brat! How dare you! You know Jimin is not something to be stolen right? He can team up with whoever he wants!" Hoseok scolded, raising his hand to threaten Jungkook.
"I know, hyung! But still, you took him from me." Jungkook whined like a kid, making Jimin laugh from the exchange.
"God! He sounds like a kid! How do you put up with him, Jiminie?" Hoseok asked, genuinely curious, laughing with Jimin.
Jimin reached for Jungkook's cheek. "He's my baby, hyung." He informed, raising his eyebrows and trying to sound as serious as he could.
Jungkook tried to move from their position, but Jimin held him in place. "Hey!"
Hoseok took another sip from his coffee. "That makes sense." He responded, totally ignoring Jungkook.
"Hey!" Jungkook yelled again, this time to Hoseok.
"So, did he drink his milk yet? Or," Hoseok teased, trying to go along with Jimin.
"Oh, right!" Jimin exclaimed, slapping his own forehead. "Baby! Do you want your milk now? I'm sorry, it slipped my mind." He pouted apologetically. "Guess that's why you're whining a lot." He tsked.
"Hyung!" Jungkook whined, shifting from his hold on Jimin, the shorter not letting go in return that easily.
"Why is the kid whining, Jiminie? Does he want to be fed? But he's so big already. What do you feed him?" Hoseok gaped in mock surprise, suppressing his laugh when he looked at Jungkook and found him glaring.
Jimin shrugged in his boyfriend's hold. "He eats 24/7, but never gets full, guess he's still growing." He said nonchalantly, rubbing Jungkook's arms that were still around his shoulders.
"What the fuck?" Jungkook let out.
"Yah! Don't curse in front of your hyungs or you'll get a spanking!" Hoseok warned, turning to Jimin again after. "So, what kind of milk do you make him drink?"
"Banana milk."
Jungkook gasped. "This is not fair!" He said, still trying to break free from Jimin, but the older had a strong hold on his arms.
"I'm telling you, Jiminie. He needs a spanking, it's not normal for a kid to whine this much." Hoseok said before taking his coffee and walking out the kitchen, leaving Jimin and Jungkook alone.
Jungkook turned to Jimin, the latter avoiding eye contact. "A kid, huh?"
Jimin stayed quiet, slowly regretting teasing him.
"Alright." Jungkook sighed, finally breaking free from Jimin's hold, only to squat down and throw him over his shoulder.
"Jungkook! Put me down, you disobedient child!" Jimin yelled in between laugher.
"I don't really think it's me who needs a spanking." Jungkook said so quietly, but Jimin could still hear it, making his eyes go wide, and just before he could process it, he felt Jungkook's hand falling on his butt with a smack.
"Jungkook!" Jimin yelled, his face going red.
"Let's see who's the kid here, hyung, hmm?" Jungkook asked with another smack.
"Alright! Alright! I'm sorry." Jimin apologized, trying not to laugh, clutching the hem of Jungkook's shirt.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "You're sorry what?" He warned, spinning around in place.
"What? I don't know!" Jimin squeaked fearfully.
Jungkook smacked him again so he could focus. "Who's the kid?"
"Not me!" Jimin laughed, getting dizzy from Jungkook spinning around. "Stop spinning, I'm gonna throw up on you."
"Say you're the baby, or I'm not putting you down!" Jungkook threatened, his hand falling down on Jimin's thighs with another spank.
"Okay! I'm the baby! I'm the baby!" Jimin finally admitted, expecting to be put down, only to feel another smack on his thighs. "Jungkookie! You said you're gonna put me down!" He laughed.
Jungkook slowly put Jimin down, supporting his head in the process, so he won't lose balance, and when Jimin's feet touched the ground, he looked up at Jungkook with a fake glare, his face cherry red, making Jungkook smirk slightly.
They continued to stare at each other in the same manner, until Jimin turned around with a huff, and walked out the kitchen, his face still red, and was met with Yoongi and Hoseok's faces popping up from the living room on the couch, making Jimin huff again when he heard Hoseok laugh, probably putting together what happened in the kitchen after he left from the yelling and Jimin's red face.
Jimin walked to their room to get ready for the day, hearing Jungkook's footsteps following him, which made him quicken his steps until he went into their room and locked the door behind him before Jungkook could reach it.
"Baby! Open the door." Jungkook laughed, knocking on the door.
"No! Go away! No more sugar for you!" Jimin laughed, going to the bathroom to get ready, leaving Jungkook to knock on their bedroom door. "Go have breakfast or something!"
Just when Jungkook thought that it had gotten better -and it had- it got so much worse.
Their day didn't start different from any other day, after their playful banter that morning, they made it to their filming location for that episode, riding the same car, walking alongside each other. Nothing was really any different.
But they didn't go home in the same state they left it in, and Jimin felt so utterly lost on how to make it better.
The only way Jimin knew would make it all better, was if he had a time machine, and chose in those three seconds not to hurt his boyfriend.
Those three seconds being:
"Baby, come here."
"Jungkook, no."
"Why? Just come here."
"I said no! No!"
And then complete and utter silence.
Silence that was filled on one side with guilt and regret, and the other with fear and shame.
Jungkook just wanted to steal a kiss, a quick pick to his boyfriend's cheek as soon as that one staff left the room. He thought nothing of it. He did it when they first started dating, hell, they almost did it live that one time they accidentally actually kissed, and they said they already kissed on the cheek then, you really couldn't blame Jungkook for wanting to give his boyfriend a kiss on the cheek.
Only said boyfriend was too paranoid for Jungkook to do that, and you couldn't blame him either, there was no one there to blame anyway, except maybe for those non fans spreading hate to Jimin because of every single interaction he had with his actual and real boyfriend.
It wasn't fair.
It wasn't fair that he couldn't have a simple relationship; with him simply being affectionate to his boyfriend, and him being affectionate in return.
So when Jimin felt Jungkook leaning in, and his lips almost touching his cheek, he - as predicted - freaked out, just simply panicked and started pushing at his boyfriend, anywhere he could reach, his shoulders, his chest, just anywhere he could push strongly enough to get Jungkook to be at least two feet away.
And Jungkook, well, he couldn't understand why he was being pushed away this aggressively, for a second he thought he was trying to kiss a complete stranger, because that would have been a normal reaction for that situation, but it was Jimin, so he couldn't understand, and for a second he felt as though he was forcing him to do something he didn't want, and maybe he was. Jungkook felt as though he had violated Jimin in one way or the other, and that feeling didn't go away when Jungkook actually took a look on Jimin's face to find the fleeting expression of annoyance and the slightest bit of fear and panic.
As soon as those three dreadful seconds had passed, more dreadful hours came, of Jungkook being afraid to touch Jimin or even look at him, and Jimin not knowing what to even say.
All day that day Jungkook looked like one of Medusa's victims, fearful expression, and teary eyes that he was trying so fucking hard to hold in, because they had to finish filming.
All day that day Jimin's heart was filled with guilt, and he also felt like crying every time he tried to catch Jungkook's eyes, or even trying to catch any look on the younger's face that wasn't this broken, that wasn't this hurt that it filled him with regret.
If only I had let him kiss me.
It could have only taken one second.
No one would have seen it.
Jungkook knew Jimin loved him, and it wasn't personal what had happened, he knew Jimin was paranoid from seeing all that hate, all those analysis of their every move, every interaction, every expression they made. He knew all of that. Still, he couldn't get the voice of Jimin yelling 'No!' and pushing him away out of his head, and it wasn't the not so simple feeling of rejection either. It was more like he tried to do something that was very wrong to do. He never thought that at some point he would feel that kissing his boyfriend on the cheek was this wrong to do, as if he wasn't actually Jimin in that situation, but a complete stranger.
Jimin wished he could laugh this off with Jungkook, but every time he took a look on Jungkook's red eyes, which were clearly red from trying not to produce actual tears, Jimin knew it wasn't possible, and when it was time for a break and he took after Jungkook who went to the nearest balcony for some air - not the nearest buffet- and Jungkook still refused to say more than two words to him, Jimin knew it wasn't going to be this simple.
"Jungkookie." Jimin called, not really sure what to say other than his name. It was all he could come up with, and he found that the idea of standing there and repeating his name for hours wasn't actually that bad, he just didn't know what to do to make it better.
And slowly, the panic Jimin felt in front of any camera or any staff felt like nothing, compared to the panic he felt about losing Jungkook.
"Jungkookie." Jimin called again. He wouldn't mind actually repeating his name all day, as long as Jungkook was there to hear him call it.
"Yeah, hyung." Jungkook responded, his back to Jimin and his face to the scenery in front of him, trying to discreetly wipe the tear that had fallen against his will.
"I'm sorry." Jimin trailed off, reaching his hand out to touch Jungkook's shoulder, and retracting it back, his hand clenching into fist. He didn't know how to approach the topic, it was really rare for two boyfriends to be put in a situation like this, so it was no surprise that he had no idea what to do.
"It's alright, hyung." Jungkook assured with a nod.
"No, it's not. It's clearly not. You're mad at me." Jimin protested, trying to get Jungkook to talk instead of completely shutting down and saying that it was okay just to pass it off.
Jungkook turned to face Jimin, and Jimin wished he hadn't. Instead of seeing Bambi eyes - wide and pure, swimming with a whole galaxy- all Jimin saw were narrowed, tired eyes, as if looking at Jimin hurt him, and the instant reaction was for him to close his eyes shut fully. "I'm not mad at you, Jimin. I'm mad at myself. I shouldn't have done that, so I'm the one who's sorry." Jungkook let out, even though it hurt his throat to talk when all he needed to let out were trapped sobs.
Out of all the things Jimin thought he would hear when he went after Jungkook, this one never came to mind, and that might have been the worst thing Jungkook could say to him, because if Jungkook was mad at him, Jimin would have begged for forgiveness, but this, Jimin didn't know what to do with this.
What were you supposed to say to your boyfriend of a year and a few months, and one of your dearest friends of a whole decade now. What were you supposed to say when the person you loved most in this world was hurt, but there was no one to blame. What were you supposed to say to someone who chose to blame themselves, who saw and believed that they were the one in the wrong.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I won't do it again, hyung. I'm sorry." Jungkook continued, taking a deep breath after, trying his best to calm down, and willing his tears not to fall, he could do plenty of that later on, on his own.
"Baby, no!" Jimin said sternly, moving to hold Jungkook's face in his hands, only for Jungkook to flinch, both from Jimin saying the same word that was still ringing in his ears - only in a different tone - and from the sudden movement.
Jungkook moved away from Jimin, walking to the balcony doors. "I think it's time to continue filming, let's go, hyung."
Jimin had a headache.
He was sure his own body was punishing him for what he had done.
His head was about to explode from thinking, and his eyes burned as if he had been staring at the sun for hours.
He was actually scrolling through twitter again since the moment they came back, and Jungkook went to their room, and instead of Jimin going after him, he stayed in the living room, until he came to a conclusion, but that headache wouldn't leave him alone.
He sure could use that herbal tea his boyfriend made for him right at that moment, and just as that thought came to his head, he almost slapped himself.
After they had went home, their car ride being filed with uncomfortable silence for the first time ever, Jimin didn't know how to approach Jungkook, couldn't come up with an idea on why or what to say, until the idea came in the form of a headache.
Jimin opened their door quietly, finding Jungkook laying on their bed with his eyes closed, probably napping, or attempting to.
Jimin hesitated "Hey." He whispered, too afraid to actually wake Jungkook up, scared of rejection. "Kookie." He called again, putting his hand on Jungkook's shoulder.
"Hm?" Jungkook hummed, turning in bed, and getting in a comfortable sleeping position, his back turning to Jimin for the second time that day.
Jimin took a deep breath, bracing himself for the worst. With his heart beating in his ears, he climbed the bed and crawled on top of Jungkook after he pushed him on his back again, so he could face him again. "Jungkookie, I have a headache, please." Jimin whined, shaking Jungkook's shoulder gently.
"Jimin?" Jungkook called, not sure where he was at first.
"Yes, can you please make me that herbal tea? My head is killing me." Jimin asked, holding his head to emphasize.
Jungkook opened his eyes slowly, sitting up in bed. "What? Why? Are you okay?" He asked worriedly, his head not comprehending anything but Jimin being hurt.
Jimin smiled. "Yeah, just the headache. Don't worry, Kookie." He shook his hands, getting up so they could go to the kitchen. "Come on." He said, holding out his hand to help Jungkook up.
Jungkook looked at the small hand in front of him, and slowly raised his hand to hold it, and before he could process what was happening, he found himself in Jimin's arms, the older holding onto him tight.
"Please, don't blame yourself. I was too paranoid to realise that it would have been okay for you to kiss my cheek even in front of a staff. My mind couldn't remember the fact that Taehyung does it to Jin hyung all the time, and probably you do it a lot to Jin and Namjoon hyung too. I-I don't know what's happening to me, Jungkook. I wasn't this paranoid when we kissed in that live- well I was actually paranoid then too but it was about the fact that I kissed you, and how you could have hated it then and-"
"Hyung. I did a mini dance in my room after that happened so, no I didn't hate it." Jungkook laughed nervously. "And it's not your fault either, I should've listened to you when you said you don't want us interacting in front of cameras or staff."
"But that breaks my heart." Jimin interjected.
"It breaks my heart too, but at least I have you here at home, just like right now." Jungkook admitted, his arms finally wrapping around Jimin's waist.
"I-I don't want that anymore. They could hate me all they want. I realised today that I'm more scared of losing you. I could handle stupid hate comments, but I can't handle the thought of living one day when we're apart, let alone actually being apart. Jungkook, I don't want that." Jimin shook his head, his headache making him wince.
"Hyung, let's finish talking after you've had your tea." Jungkook offered, not wanting Jimin to be in pain any longer.
"No, listen. I don't care anymore, they still do it anyway even if I don't do anything, and I can't let the best thing that's ever happened in my life be affected by some strangers who don't know me let alone love me. Please, just- don't blame yourself, we could have avoided that situation all together if they hadn't gotten to my head to the point that I couldn't let you touch me for one second when no one was around, 'cause you wouldn't do that, would you? You wouldn't try to do something I told you not to do in front of anyone. You wouldn't. You waited until they left to do that, and I was so far gone in my head to realise that, and I'm sorry, just help me not let them get to my head, please."
Jungkook went quiet for a few seconds, processing Jimin's words and what they actually meant in the long run. He took a deep breath, leaning away so he could look Jimin in the eye. "Alright. I'll help you, but the first thing you've gotta do for me is delete twitter from your phone. If you have to post something you can use my phone." Jungkook said sternly, earning a nod from Jimin.
"I can do that," Jimin said before he paused, pulling his phone from his pocket and quickly deleting the app. "Right now, and it's done!"
Jungkook smiled, happy that Jimin won't spend his free time absorbing all the negativity on the app. "Second, I won't initiate anything in front of cameras or staff, you have to be the one to initiate it so I know that you're comfortable enough at that moment."
Jimin went a little bit quiet at that, which had Jungkook trying to catch his eyes. "Alright, you're probably right." He admitted with a sigh, admitting to himself that it might actually take him some time until he could interact with Jungkook freely again.
"And finally, let's go make your tea, please." Jungkook finalised, half scolding Jimin for holding them back from making it.
"I wasn't actually waking you up to make me one but I do have a headache." Jimin mumbled, being pulled by Jungkook to the kitchen.
"What? Really?"
"Yeah, I just used it as an excuse so I could wake you up and talk." Jimin said shyly, hopping up to sit on the dining table.
Jungkook smiled to himself, filling the kettle up with water. "I'm glad then." He said, turning to look at Jimin, leaning against the counter and waiting for the water to boil.
"Jungkookie." Jimin called.
"Yeah?"
"Can I get that kiss now?" Jimin teased with a smile.
"Oh, I don't know. Can you?" Jungkook teased back.
"Are you trying to be smart with me right now?" Jimin laughed, jumping from the table to hold Jungkook's face, squishing it in his hands and pulling him down so he could kiss him all over his face. "Kiss me!" Jimin ordered.
Pulling him in by the waist, Jungkook leaned down to return the favour, kissing all over Jimin's face, and pecking his lips about twenty times, until the kettle whistled.
They both laughed. "Let's get you your tea and cuddle. Sound good?"
"Sounds perfect."
"You okay?"
Namjoon slid beside Jungkook in front of the kitchen counter, peeking from behind the maknae's shoulder to see what he was stirring in a big bowl to have for lunch. It was Jungkook's separate day off, and Namjoon didn't have to leave until the late afternoon, so it was just the two of them at the dorm. Coincidentally too, it was Namjoon's only chance to talk to Jungkook alone in a way that none of the members would notice, especially Jimin.
Jimin had almost taken the day off too, just so he could spend it with Jungkook, who scolded him about their relationship interfering with their work life, which resulted in Jimin leaving the dorm that morning with a pout, after trying to drag Jungkook with him out of bed just for the sake of it, and failing miserably, and not long after that he had gotten ready to leave after saying goodbye to a half asleep Jungkook who just kept making kissy faces at Jimin, and trying to fall asleep again, just for him to fail as well. Shortly after, he had woken up fully, and was at the gym for a morning workout, followed by two short breakfasts, and a round of his current favourite video game, which eventually brought him to this; making a quick lunch so he could fuel up again to continue to kick ass in the game.
"Yeah, hyung. What's up?" Jungkook replied mindlessly, adding sesame oil to the rice, to make rice balls.
"I meant are you okay? With Jimin, and all?" Namjoon added carefully, his voice almost coming to a whisper, even though he knew they were alone in the spacious dorm.
Jungkook's stirring halted. "What do you mean, hyung?" He frowned, not looking up from the bowl, and slowly starting to stir again, grabbing random things he splayed on the counter to add to the rice mix, just so he could look indifferent.
"Jungkook-ah, you don't have to get that way with me. It's hyung. I'm here to listen, and not as a leader." Namjoon tried again, reaching for Jungkook's left shoulder, and squeezing assuredly.
"Let's eat lunch, hyung." Jungkook replied, turning to Namjoon with a small smile, and Namjoon understood, so he raised his palms in the air in surrender.
"You wanna eat first, that's alright with me. I'm starving."
After a few minutes, Jungkook had a small lunch on the table for him and his hyung, but his mind was elsewhere. He knew he needed to talk to someone, and he also thought he would eventually talk to Jin about it after keeping it in for an unhealthy amount of time, but he seemed to forget that their leader had that title for a reason, so it was no wonder Namjoon had noticed every time he and Jimin had had one of their -not quite fights but are- fights. The only thing on his mind -other than how tasty the food was when he made it to his liking- was what he would actually say to Namjoon. Should he tell him everything that had happened from the beginning, or should he tell him how he's actually feeling, but then he remembered what Namjoon had actually asked him.
"I'm okay. Nothing is actually wrong, but I don't know - I don't really know how I should feel about this - all of it." Jungkook started, pouring himself a glass of water and drinking it in one go.
"Did you two talk about it?" Namjoon asked, giving Jungkook a empathetic look.
"Yeah, we did actually, and I- he deleted twitter from his phone, after I asked him to." He informed, tracing the empty cup on the table in mindless patterns.
"That's a good start, but how did you feel after?" Namjoon asked, even though he knew the answer already.
Jungkook's eyes flickered up from the cup in his hand to Namjoon's eyes. "Honestly? I'm not as relieved as I thought I would be, but not- I- I don't mean that I'm not glad that he deleted twitter. Of course I am. The main reason I asked him to do that was because it was messing with his head. I don't want that happening to him, Jimin hyung doesn't deserve that. I just- I don't think what's been going on is gonna change that easily, nothing happens that way. I don't think it's that easy to fix." Jungkook finished with a deep breath, finding it quite hard to figure himself out on the spot and explain himself to Namjoon, but finding the words tumbling out of his mouth without much consideration, as if he wasn't the one talking, being as surprised as Namjoon at what he had just said.
"...What's not that easy to fix?" Namjoon asked, hesitant, and a little bit scared of what Jungkook was going to say next.
"The way he's scared of me!" Jungkook almost shouted, gesturing with his left hand at nothing but the air, his right hand gripping the empty cup.
"Jimin's not scared of you, Jungkook."
"He is though. Maybe not as you think he is, but in a weird way he is. What happens when he panics every time I get close to him, hyung? Doesn't panic include fear? So in a way he's scared of interacting with me. H-He's scared of me, h-hyung." Jungkook explained, his throat closing in on him. It was either he didn't talk anymore, or the next thing he would let out were cries.
"Hey, hey." Namjoon soothed, standing up from his seat opposite from Jungkook and sitting on the one beside him, and he wrapped his arm around Jungkook in a side hug. "That's not going to happen. Jiminie loves you too much for that to happen." He assured, rubbing Jungkook's back to calm him down so he would be able to talk again.
Jungkook poured himself more water, trying to calm himself down. "Tell me you don't find what I just said logical." He whispered, his voice sounding rough.
"It is, but it won't come to that, I promise."
"There's no guarantee-"
"You know what?" Namjoon interrupted, straightening up in his seat, an idea coming to him. "I know just what you should do!"
Jungkook turned his head, ready to listen to Namjoon's idea, a small smile beginning to form. Just from looking at Namjoon, Jungkook knew he had a great idea in mind. It was the exact same way they knew Namjoon had come up with a new concept or song, his whole body would suddenly perk up and he would get a little loud, which was how he was getting now. "What, hyung?" Jungkook asked softly, looking at Namjoon fondly.
"Let him come to you." Namjoon provided simply.
"Let him come to me? As in, play hard to get? Hyung, he's my boyfriend." Jungkook laughed a little, not getting what Namjoon actually meant.
"I don't mean it in that way. I just mean when we're outside the dorm, just let him be the one initiating all the interactions, as in give him space. If he's afraid of you like you say he is or would be eventually, then let him approach you on his own, that way he won't be afraid. Maybe he's actually afraid of- and don't get upset at this, but maybe he's afraid of you interacting with him, but if he's the one doing that, he's gonna do it based on his own judgement, you know? But you're right, you are boyfriends already, so I think you should tell him you're gonna do that." Namjoon explained, making hand gestures to emphasize, trying to get his point across.
"I already told him I'm not gonna initiate any interactions between us, but I didn't think of it like that. I guess I was just protecting myself from being rejected." Jungkook told, letting out a hollow laugh right after.
Namjoon rubbed Jungkook's shoulder again. "It's settled then. Playing hard to get it is."
"That's awful."
"I know!" Jimin yelled in the open air, his arms flying up with a shrug. "I'm the worst boyfriend!"
"Well, I'm sure there are way worse boyfriends than you, but go off I guess."
"Tae." Yoongi warned, giving Taehyung a look.
"I'm just saying, hyung."
"Well, say something helpful." Yoongi adviced quietly, giving Jimin a quick glance, and looking back again at Taehyung.
Taehyung huffed, and turned to Jimin, who had his back to Taehyung and Yoongi, resting his cheek on his palm, his elbow resting on the railing of the balcony he always found himself coming back to.
"Jiminie."
"Yeah?"
"You and Jungkook are fine. You said you both talked, so there's nothing to worry about right now, regardless of what's already happened." Taehyung reasoned, trying to show the positive perspective just so his best friend wasn't beating himself up anymore.
Just as Yoongi was about to slap his own forehead or maybe the back of Taehyung's head, Jimin answered. "No!- I mean yes we talked, but we're not fine. I hurt him." Jimin yelled again, his voice going quiet at the end.
"But he said he wasn't upset with you! It's not like he's resenting you or anything." Taehyung continued to argue, not getting the worry seeping out of Jimin.
"He will be! When I don't fix this shit going on in my head!" Jimin yelled, turning to Taehyung and pointing at his own head.
"Jimin-ah." Yoongi called gently, earning another huff from Jimin, before he turned back around.
"I'm scared I'm gonna start t-to fear being close to him." He admitted quietly. "And not just in front of cameras. This- if I don't figure this out i-it might be-"
"No! Just stop whatever scenario you've got going on in your head. How can you think that this might be the end of your relationship with Jungkook? That's not happening. Jungkook is too patient with you for that to happen." Taehyung pointed out, his voice raising in an attempt for Jimin to listen to what he was saying.
"Guys, let's calm down for a second." Yoongi interfered, his hand resting on Taehyung's back and rubbing gently. It was uncharted territory for him to try and come between an argument that Jimin and Taehyung had. Normally, they would have those arguements in their own rooms, preferring the privacy of their friendship rather than letting someone witness how exactly they got so close till this day, and just now, Yoongi could say that it wasn't exactly pretty, and no relationship was easy, platonic or not. "Jimin-ah, you have to stop being so helpless, and actually start to do something. If you're that scared of losing Jungkook and you think that eventually fame is gonna tear you apart then you need to do something. We can't help you unless you help yourself."
Jimin turned around, resting his back on the railing, and mulling over Yoongi's words, not saying anything.
"What are you going to do?" Taehyung asked, reaching his foot out to nudge Jimin's.
"I-I don't know."
"Should I show you?" Taehyung raised his eyebrows, his tone suggestive.
Raising his head, Jimin narrowed his eyes at his best friend. "Show me what?"
"How you should interact with your own boyfriend you idiot!" Taehyung scolded, charging at Jimin to smack his head, only to be held back by Yoongi.
"Why, why why." Yoongi chanted, pulling on Taehyung's sweater.
"What do you mean show me how to interact with my own boyfriend? Have you lost your mind?" Jimin seethed back, slipping into Busan satoori.
Taehyung stepped back, his back meeting Yoongi's chest, who was still holding him back from Jimin, not really getting where Taehyung was going with this.
"Alright." Taehyung raised his hands in mock surrender. "But I might just remind you if I get the feeling that you forgot how to." He warned, turning around to leave the balcony.
"What the hell does that mean, Taehyung-ah!" Jimin yelled after him, only for Taehyung to give him a dismissive wave, going back to the studio.
"Are you guys always like that?" Yoongi asked, still confused over what was happening in Taehyung's head, and a little afraid to find out.
"When Tae knows I'm being stupid he gets like that." Jimin sighed, rubbing his forehead under his bangs.
"Nothing like tough love, huh?" Yoongi teased with a smile.
Jimin laughed a little. "Yeah."
"So what are you going to do?" Yoongi asked Jimin the same question Taehyung had asked, hoping this time Jimin would have the answer.
"Besides trying to stop Taehyung from doing whatever he has in mind? I guess trying to be as close to Jungkookie without freaking out."
"Well, that's a good start." Yoongi encouraged.
"You think so?" Jimin asked, unsure.
"Oh, yeah. You guys could start over as if he's your crush or something. Nothing extreme, you could just sit beside him all the time, hug him unnecessarily, ruffle his hair you know? Just like how you were when you were still kids." Yoongi wiggled his eyebrows, laughing when Jimin's ears turned red.
"Hyung! I wasn't that obvious!" Jimin defended, his eyes going wide with the realisation that he really was.
"Oh come on! You both were so obvious!"
"Both?" Jimin frowned.
"Yeah, I think Jungkook was more obvious than you though, given how he was oblivious to his own feelings but you weren't. I'd say he had no control over his feelings for you, unlike you, who already knew what you were feeling so you tried to mask it." Yoongi explained. "Didn't you notice how he was glued to you all the time?" He gaped at Jimin.
"...No?" Jimin admitted in a whisper.
"Ah! I can't believe you." Yoongi groaned, and Jimin laughed, and they both went a little quiet, only the sound of the wind hitting the trees could be heard, until Jimin broke the silence again.
"You think I could fix this?"
"Jimin-ah, your relationship is not broken to fix, but it could be if you don't do something, and you are doing something. Being aware is half the journey, and all you have to do is stop it from happening."
"Yeah, I guess. It's just, I can't help but feel watched every time I get close to him. It's like someone is gonna pop out of nowhere and ask me why am I touching him like that? Why is he looking at me like that? I feel like I have to avoid being asked those questions when I know no one is gonna ask me them. It's weird." Jimin said with a shiver, recalling the panic he felt every time he got close to his boyfriend.
"Then, how about trying to be as close to Jungkook as you are to Taehyungie? You could trick your mind eventually." Yoongi took a step towards Jimin in excitement, the idea hitting him suddenly. "If you treat Jungkook just the way you treat any of us, let's say Taehyung, then no one will really notice how you treat Jungkook because it's not anything special, and eventually, you'll begin to be comfortable with Jungkook in front of the cameras again. This could be the start!"
Jimin's eyes widened, his mind playing out all the ways he could show affection freely to Jungkook.
"Hyung, you're a genius!"
"Honey, I'm home!"
Jimin closed the door behind him, toeing off his shoes, and throwing his keys towards the table by the door, in a little hurry to see Jungkook. As he was about to turn around, he heard running footsteps coming towards him, making him smile.
"Jungkook? Baby, is that you?" Jimin teased, before seeing Jungkook running towards him.
"Jiminie!" Jungkook squealed, picking Jimin up, after he had quickly dropped his bag.
Laughing, Jimin wrapped his legs around Jungkook's waist, his hands resting on his cheeks. "You missed me?" He tilted his head, his eyes almost disappearing.
Jungkook looked up, his eyes locking with Jimin's. "Yeah, so much." He whispered, tightening the grip he had on Jimin's thighs and throwing his head back a little more, giving Jimin a signal, one that he understood right away.
Still smiling, Jimin leaned his head down to kiss Jungkook, his fingers stroking his cheeks, and Jungkook kissed back, yearning for Jimin just as much. "I missed you more." Jimin muttered between kisses. "Should have just," He leaned back, only to lean down again, planting soft kisses on Jungkook's cheeks. "let me take the day off with you, hm?" He breathed out.
Turning around with Jimin still in his hold, Jungkook laughed, walking to their room, only to walk back again to the door to lean down and pick up Jimin's bag from the floor, earning a squeal from Jimin. "No, Jimin-ssi. That's not happening." Jungkook muttered, casually slapping Jimin's thigh.
Jimin pouted, wiggling to break out of Jungkook's hold. "We would've had fun together." He pointed out, finally jumping down and taking his clothes off on his way to the bathroom.
Jungkook huffed, dragging a hand down his face. "Is that a preview?" He managed to tease, watching Jimin move in their bathroom, probably preparing a bath for himself.
"Oh, you wish!" Jimin laughed, standing in the doorway, already down to his boxers. "No sugar for you today, baby." He waved sassily, before he closed the door.
Jungkook stood rooted in place for a few seconds, his mouth agape. "What does suga hyung have to do with thi- Did you just call me ba- Jimin-ssi!" Jungkook spluttered, marching to the bathroom and barging in. "You forgot to lock the door." He stated simply, looking at Jimin who was already in the tub, pouring in all kinds of soap to make bubbles.
"I didn't forget." Jimin shrugged. Trying to reach for the bath salt. "Jungkookie, can you hand me th- Thanks." He was handed the bath salt before he could ask, and then he put just the right amount, before wiggling in the water to mix everything he had put in, not catching the fond look his boyfriend was giving him.
"So, is that an invitation? Or?" Jungkook trailed off, tilting his head.
"No. You could just watch." Jimin shrugged again, putting a folded towel behind his head, and leaning back, closing his eyes with a sigh. "I could fall asleep just like that."
"So how was your day?" Jungkook squeaked out, quickly taking his clothes off after he had caught a hint of sarcasm in Jimin's tone.
Jimin silently moved forward in the tub after discarding the small towel, making space for Jungkook when he heard his clothes hitting the floor, and with his eyes still closed, he began to rant off what he had to do at the company, leaving off the part where he had a small fight with Taehyung that he still couldn't figure out what it meant, while Jungkook was getting comfortable behind him, sinking in the water himself with a sigh. "What about you?" Jimin opened his eyes, turning his head to look at Jungkook.
"What do you think?" Jungkook raised his eyebrows, moving Jimin's head so he could rest it on his shoulder.
"I smell betrayal, but you're a little tense. Did you work out?" Jimin deduced smartly.
"Yeah, I did. What betrayal though?" Jungkook frowned, reaching for the shampoo to message Jimin's head.
Jimin began to sniff around like a puppy, turning around to face Jungkook, the water splashing around them with the movement. "You gamed without me, didn't you?" He narrowed his eyes in suspicion.
"Now, how did you know that!" Jungkook's eyes widened, his hand stilling in Jimin's hair.
"I don't know. Your hands felt weird, like you tired them out." Jimin shrugged, slumping on Jungkook's chest.
"How did you sense that?" Jungkook asked, still confused, but resuming the hair washing, and rinsing it out.
Jimin shrugged. "I don't know. Boyfriend things I guess."
"Oh? Can I do one too then?" Jungkook asked, looking down at Jimin who was minutes away from falling asleep.
"Go ahead." Jimin yawned, waving Jungkook off, and closing his eyes.
"Something happened today, that you're not telling me." Jungkook stated simply, taking a wild guess, but having the feeling that he's quite right.
Jimin's eyes snapped open again. "It did." He said slowly, still not looking up at Jungkook.
"It's alright if you don't wanna talk now. I know you're tired." Jungkook assured, rubbing Jimin's back, and eventually messaging his back under the hot water.
"No, it's nothing to worry about." Jimin began to explain. "Kookie, seriously, stop if you don't want me to fall asleep on you." He cut himself off to warn Jungkook.
"You know I don't mind." Jungkook reminded, his hand not halting.
"Alright." Jimin surrendered. "It's Tae. We fought, or, I don't really know what it was, but we were talking, and then we disagreed on something the way we always do, and he stormed off after he said something I still don't understand." Jimin explained vaguely, not wanting to tell Jungkook straight up that they were talking about him.
"Did it have something to do with me?" Jungkook guessed softly.
Jimin sighed. "Yeah." He admitted quietly.
"Is Taehyung hyung always right? Like- I mean before, when you guys talked about your feelings for me, was he always right? Did he have good judgment when he gave you advice?" He asked Jimin, trying to help him without interfering, even though he was the topic of discussion. He knew he couldn't get between Jimin and his support system.
Jimin went quiet for a while, contemplating his answer to the question. Taehyung has always been right, from the very first day when Jimin confessed to him, up until this day. Taehyung was most probably still right. He knew Jungkook held feelings for Jimin even if the maknae didn't know it himself, he always encouraged Jimin to make a move on Jungkook. Taehyung's advice never backfired on him, except for that one time Jungkook avoided him for a week, and it was the result of his own stupidity then, not Taehyung's advice, so what made him doubt his soulmate's words now? Still, he couldn't understand what Taehyung meant, or more importantly, he couldn't be sure if what he felt Taehyung had in mind was what he was actually planning. Now he had another thing to worry about on top of his endangered relationship with his boyfriend. "Yes." He finally answered, looking up at Jungkook, helplessness filling his eyes. "He's always been right."
Jungkook leaned down to kiss Jimin's forehead. "Then you know what to do." He concluded softly.
Jimin didn't know what to do, but he sighed out. "Yeah."
"Come on, let's wash off and get out. You need to eat. I'm guessing you didn't." Jungkook shifted to drain the tub.
"I did have a small lunch." Jimin pointed out.
"What about breakfast?" Jungkook asked, standing under the shower with Jimin so they could wash off the soap.
"I took an apple with me to the car." Jimin defended. "The car I rode alone, on the way there, and on the way back! When we could've just chosen the same day off!" He then attacked, pointing at Jungkook's chest with his pointer finger accusingly.
Jungkook raised his hands in surrender when Jimin flipped the table on him. "I'm sorry, darling. Here." He apologized, holding Jimin's head and kissing his forehead again. "Now let's dry up."
Once Jimin was on their bed in his pajamas, he asked Jungkook. "Promise it's the last time we're gonna take separate days off?"
Jungkook turned away from the mirror after brushing his already dry hair that he refused to get wet again after his morning shower. "Jimin." He warned quietly.
"Jimin what?" He frowned.
"You know it was for the best." Jungkook pointed out, going to stand in front of Jimin, who had his hands under his own thighs, a sign of timidness.
"What do you mean?" Jimin asked in a whisper, going quiet for a second, until he realised. "You did this on purpose?" He concluded. His voice raising with anger. "You took the day off alone on purpose?!" Jimin yelled incredulously.
"It's not like you would have even looked at me all day long." Jungkook's mouth moved on it's own before he could stop it, but that sentence seemed to stop all the words from forming in Jimin's mouth.
Swallowing whatever words Jimin thought he should say, he just nodded, looking away from Jungkook, and at anything else that could distract him from that harsh truth. Jimin couldn't say anything because he knew Jungkook was right. He couldn't defend himself because he didn't have the right to after what he had already put Jungkook through, intentionally or not. He couldn't lie to Jungkook or to himself and say that today would be any different, because he knew it wouldn't be. Slowly, and all at once, before Jungkook could catch up, and in just a few seconds that felt like hours in Jimin's head, his faith in himself began to crumble. He felt like a failure of a boyfriend. "Baby, I-" Jungkook defence came two seconds too late, because in those two seconds, Jimin had concluded the kind of boyfriend he was; a disappointing one.
"Let's eat." Jimin interrupted, looking back at Jungkook with a smile, getting up from the bed, and pulling a confused Jungkook behind him.
"Jiminie. Baby, wait! I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said." Jungkook rushed out, making Jimin stop in his tracks just outside their room.
"Jungkook-ah, you're not wrong. I'm the one who's sorry. I don't know what to tell you. I'm just sorry." Jimin squeezed Jungkook's hand. "Nothing I say will make it up to you. There's nothing easier than words. I could talk all day long about how I'm gonna be better for you, but continue to do the opposite, so just forgive me? For now?" Jimin almost pleaded, looking at Jungkook in the eyes, his own shinning with sincerity.
It was Jungkook's turn to go quiet, his only answer was a nod, and Jimin resumed pulling on Jungkook's hand, guiding them to the kitchen, the maknae lost in thought. Deep down in his mind he knew what he said broke something in Jimin, but he couldn't take his words back, especially when he knew they were true.
"Did you cook?" Jimin interrupted his thoughts, looking at the warm pots on the stove.
"Huh- yeah, I did. No one else was here, so I did." Jungkook explained absentmindedly, not even moving to serve them plates.
"Sit down then. My Jungkookie worked hard today." Jimin said, pushing on Jungkook's shoulders so he could sit down at the table.
"You worked hard too." Jungkook mumbled when Jimin started to put plates in front of him.
Jimin just responded with a smile, going to sit in the chair in front of Jungkook. "I guess the hyungs ate already. There was almost no food left for us. Are you sure you made enough food for all of us, Jungkookie?" Jimin laughed, reaching for his chopsticks to start eating.
"Jimin hyung."
Before Jimin could touch his chopsticks, his hand froze at Jungkook's tone, hovering above the table. He looked up at Jungkook. "Yes?" He replied, feeling like he did something wrong again.
"Why- Do you not want to sit on my lap anymore?" Jungkook asked shyly, looking at the plates of food.
With the hand that was still hovering above the table, Jimin turned it to his face to slap his forehead.
"Jiminie! Why!" Jungkook scolded, reaching to pull on Jimin's arms, so he wouldn't hurt himself.
"I forgot. I'm sorry."
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry.
"Just come here, hyung."
It's for the best Jimin hyung.
"Jimin?" Jungkook called, tugging on Jimin's sleeve from across the table.
"Huh?" Jimin frowned, his mind somewhere else.
"Is something wrong, Jiminie?" Jungkook frowned in return, getting up from his chair instead, and going to Jimin's.
"No, don't worry. I think it was deja vu or something." Jimin waved off, getting up from his chair, and sitting down again, but on Jungkook's lap instead.
"Ah! I hate those." Jungkook muttered, finally taking a spoon and eating his soup. "Now, let's eat! Mhm, my food is delicious, right, hyung?" He teased, nudging Jimin.
"Yes, Kookie. It's even better than my mom's." Jimin teased.
"Uh. Now I know you're bluffing." Jungkook sighed. "So I don't even stand a chance?" He asked just in case.
Jimin hummed, swallowing his bite of food. "Not one." He muttered, laughing after Jungkook poked him under his arm.
Both of them continued to eat, until Jimin had to ask.
"Hey, Jungkookie. Do you think dreams come true sometimes?"

Again, I don't think that this is how Jimin and Jungkook's relationship is like in real life, or if they really are together in the first place, at the end of the day we don't know anything other than what the members tell us.
Another disclaimer: the next part of this chapter deals with anxiety and other mental disorders, if you're not comfortable with that please don't read, or skip the parts that make you uncomfortable.
Thank you so much for reading.
