𝟶𝟷𝟶*: 𝙽𝚎𝚠 𝚈𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚜 𝙰𝚝 𝙰𝚘𝚢𝚊𝚐𝚒'𝚜! (NEW YEARS SPECIAL!)🎀

It's the last day of the year, and I woke up at 6 in the morning out of habit. I really need to sleep in during break. I drink my coffee while sitting watching TV, and hear someone at the door.

"Toya!" What sounds like An shouts, banging on the door. I hear another bang, but.. it wasn't the door. I quickly open the door to see An face first in the snow, Azusawa in the back and Akito glaring at An.

"Hi, Toya. I hope she didn't wake you.. mind if we come in?" Akito asks, and my mother shoves me away.

"We never mind! You are always welcome, the person Toya l--" I stop her, and she laughs. Akito, An, and Azusawa come in, taking their shoes off. "Oh! I forgot to mention last time, Akito said you're the one with the girlfriend!"

An blinks, and looks at Akito. He shrugs, sitting on the couch. "Well, yeah! This is my adorable future wife, Kohane Azusawa!"

"H-Hello Ms. Aoyagi! It's nice to meet you..!" Azusawa says, and my mother smiles.

"You two are so adorable! Please invite me to your wedding! But finish school before that."

I sigh, and sit next to Akito. "What did you need?"

"An wanted to ask you something."

"Ms. Aoyagi, Toya, is it okay if we host a party at your house for the new year?" She says, and we both stay silent. My mother squeals, and the light in my eyes fade.

"Of course it is!! I've never had a party here, so this will be an experience! Toya's dad will never know!" She evilly grins. "Can't even be with his own family on new years, hmph.." she mumbles, but I think I'm the only one who heard it.

"About that, I have a few people that could help with the decorating! Is that okay?" An and My mother seem to have gotten along quickly.

"Yes!!"

They spot smudge on my head, and Azusawa laughs. I sigh, and take him off.

"Woah, you got a cat?!" An says, hugging it. But it immediately attempts to scratch her, and she smiles as her cheek bleeds.

"SMUDGE?!" My mother shrieks, taking him off. "Bad kitty!" smudge just walks away, into my room.

"Haha." An laughs. "Just like Akito."

"Oh no, An, are you okay?!" Azusawa holds her face, looking at the scratch.

"If you're fine with it, we'll go discuss it with the others. We'll be back shortly, it's best if you get ready. Although the only people that were invited here are the people from the christmas party. Is that okay?" Akito asks, I nod. "Great. We'll see you soon? I don't do decorating, so I'll just get ready."

I wave them goodbye, and they all head out. I'm not entirely sure about this.

"Hi, Toya!" Akiyama smiles, and I wave. "If you'll just let me in no-" something in their pocket drops. I pick it up, and read it.

"Thank you Mr. and Ms. Aoyagi for bringing a beautiful person into this world", "Please convince him to model for me"

I stare at it, and Akiayama awkwardly laughs.

"WAIT NO, LET ME IN!!!"

After Akiyama, An, Kamishiro, Otori, Honami, and my mother finished with the decorations, Akiyama continued to stare at my cat like they wanted to touch it. I let them, he was fine with it. Except for An. He wasn't too sure about Kamishiro.

"HOWDARETHISLITTLEADORABLEDEMONOFFLUFFTAKEMYMODELAWAYFROMME" (translation: how dare this little adorable monster of fluff take my model away from me) Akiyama pets him aggressively, and he puts his nails into my thigh. This is so painful.

"Mizuki." Kamishiro sighs, pulling them away. "Sorry about that."

"Don't tell me what to do, gay maniac!" They shouted, trying to get out of his grip. He stared at them, and they sighed.

"Okay, we'll see you later, Toya!" They said as they walked out the door.

"They're so fun! You have great friends, Toya!" My mother said, getting smudge off of the streamers. I nodded, and sat still patiently. I was ready 3 hours before the party would even begin.

"So, tell your precious mother about your crush on Akito~! Did you kiss yet? It seems like you kissed. God, get married already! Wait not actually, finish school first too. And wait a while. And what about that necklace you got and are wearing under your shirt right NOW?? You don't have a picture yet, do you?" She was all over the place, and I gave the most delayed reaction ever.

I shook my head, pushing her away. She just kept asking more questions, until smudge dropped a glass cup, then walking away. I think it was on purpose which he should be punished for, but I love him and I'm grateful he did that when he did.

"At least answered this! Do you want this picture for your necklace?" She said, with a printed out photo of him sleeping on.. my BED WITH ME?! "You guys are such heavy sleepers! I actually forgot flash was on but you didn't wake up. I figured you might like it?" I blush, and take the photo. He looks so adorable in this picture..

I stare at my open necklace, and close it again. I hide it in my pocket. I'll probably leave it alone.. for now. I don't know how I'll ever repay him for everything he's done for me.

I go back to my room, staring at my phone. I'm kind of getting impatient to ask Akito for his phone number. I flop on my bed, sighing.

I glance at my keychain on my bag for school, hanging near my bed. I smile, touching it.

I.. really hope Akito at least enjoys our time together. I don't know what I'd do if he just left me one day. Because of these hopeless feelings for him.. I get up and sit on my desk, looking out the window at the gates covered with snow. It's supposed to snow again tonight as well, I want to watch it.

How did An manage to get with Azusawa? I would like to know more just in case.. for any tips..?

I want to know more about Akito's past, too. What did he do exactly that made people spread lies and hate him? Why don't my classmates like him? I wonder.. but would it be too disrespectful if I asked? Maybe I shouldn't ask him directly but from Ena or An.

.. I kind of hope father never finds out about me liking my own best friend that's the same gender as me. My mother accepts me, but he would never. I'm scared for when the day comes they both meet.

The party started I think 30 minutes ago, but I still don't see Akito nor Ena. I mean, people are still arriving, but I'm kind of growing impatient.

"TSUKASA!!! SAKI!!!" My mother shouted, throwing everything out of her way and hugged them out of nowhere. I looked away, embarrassed.

"MS. AOYAGI!!!" Saki began bawling in her shirt. Tsukasa hugged her back while suffocating, as Kamishiro chuckled in the back.

I'm somewhat away from the whole crowd, even if I consider them as friends, it'll still take a while to get used to them as a group. A loud group. I still haven't recovered from An's Halloween party..

"Toya! Why are you in the corner?" An says, going up to me with these weird '2023' glasses. I shrug, circling the rim of my cup with a finger. Why hasn't he shown up yet..?

"Well, the countdown doesn't start until another 2 hours or so. Kohane is hanging out with Mizuki and Haruka and Minori, kinda awkward seeing your current girlfriend hanging out with your ex-girlfriend and ex-crush.. and the scary yandere but whatever.." An laughs, standing next to me.

"But I'm glad they get along. It's just... I haven't forgiven Mizuki all that much yet.. it still hurts to remember what they did to me." She whispers, and I stare at her seriously. She smiles, and says she'll save it for another story.

Break is almost over. I know I should be complaining like An, but I look forward to seeing Akito every day again. Also, should I ignore the huge crowd outside of our house..?

"Toya? An? Why do you two look so down?" Kusanagi squeezed through the crowd, to us. I wave, and An hugs her.

"Oh, I'm not. But I think Toya misses Akito~" She elbows me, and I blush, then nod. "Wait what-"

"Yeah, I wonder where he is?" Kusanagi grumbles as she rolls her eyes. Is she in a bad mood? "Anyway, your mom is an amazing cook. I might actually steal all of the food when I leave."

"Right?! Alright, well, I'll leave you two. Gotta go stop Minori from murdering my girlfriend, bye!"

We stay silent. Kusanagi is bad at communicating. I can't even communicate. We manage to make a conversation, but I just nod, shake my head, or shrug. I smile to seem polite, and maintain eye contact. Eventually her voice trails down, and she blushes hard.

"U-Uh, I'll- I'll go find Emu.. B-Bye, Toya!" She blushes, hurrying away. I guess I'm all alone now. Guess this is no different from other times.

Everyone is making a lot of noise with their laughter and such. I want to make a conversation instead of waiting for Akito like a sad puppy.

I really do want to be closer with them. It's just hard for me to do that. Why? I can't even speak without almost panicking. This is pathetic. I think.. I think I'm gonna step out.

I go out on the balcony from my room and sigh.

It's kind of nice seeing the snow falling and piling up on the floor again. I used to just watch from my room window, I was never allowed to go out since it might've done something to my fingers and prevent me from doing violin or piano lessons. I made sure to put on my slippers of course, and I touch the snow. It's cold.

I was so lost in thought I didn't even realize someone besides me. They touch me, and I turn immediately.

"You should cover up, you might get sick.. Sorry I'm late, Toya." Akito smiles, wrapping his scarf around my neck. I blush, hiding my face in it. He gently grabs my hand I was touching the snow with, and holds it.

"Your hands are cold now.. I prefer you with warm hands, so I don't want you touching the snow, okay..?" Akito smiles, placing it on his cheek. I might actually pass out. He grins, and goes back to staring outside.

"What are you doing out here? It's your house, the only person that should be kicked out is An." He jokes, and I chuckle. We look at the empty and dark street, and I hadn't even realized he scared the crowd off. I look up at the night sky, as snow falls down and see the moonlight is shining on him.

"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" I actually managed to blurt that out, but in a quiet whisper.

"Did you say something? Sorry, I was lost in thought." He asks, and my face lights up. I shake my head rapidly, pushing him away for some reason.

"Toya!!! The countdown is about to start, come with us!!" An grabs our hands, Akito managed to drag me out of my room and spend some time with the others.

"Only 4 more minutes!" Mizuki claps, and we stand around the TV, watching what's happening in New York. They do this ball thing every year, it's fascinating to watch. Even if it's very, very far from here. It's even more lively now that I'm with the people I love most. And the person I love most..

Akito continues to speak about how Ena took forever deciding what dress she wanted to wear and her whole make up thing, but I was just happy he arrived like he said.

"Okay guys, 2023 is about to start!!" Saki squeals, holding her girlfriends close. Akito gently places his hand over mine, and squeezes it lightly. I smile, feeling more relaxed. He knows I'm not completely okay with loud noises, but it's fine since it's them.

"10... 9... 8..." An shakes Kohane, making her dizzy. My mother giggles, next to them. "7... 6... 5..! 4..!" Kamishiro holds Tsukasa close, who is fine with it this one time. I take a deep breath, and exhale slowly. "3..! 2..! 1!!" Before I could do anything, Akito wraps his arms around me. I freeze, since I was planning to do that.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!" Everyone exclaims, and I hug Akito back. The noise in the room just fades away, and he's all I can hear now.

"Happy new year, Toya. I'm looking forward to my future with you. I'm so.. glad I met you." He says, and I smile widely. More than I have before.

"... Happy new year, Akito. I enjoyed all our moments together this year. Please stay by my side for as long as you can.." I mutter also relieved everyone is too loud to hear me, and he pulls away from me.

"That'll be forever, idiot." He puts his forehead on mine, and I laugh with him. After a few seconds, we realize what we were doing, and quickly move away. I blush hardly, and his ears are red, too. It just felt so natural, so I didn't mind. He's adorable when he's so flustered.

"People usually kiss on new years. Do it." An whispers, suffocating Kohane. Akito pushed her away, flustered.

"Sorry Akito, but I want to hug my baby!! Come here, my little snowflake!!" She ruffles my hair, squeezing me. I know she's embarrassing me on purpose, but I will let it slide this one time if she lets me out alive. But I hear people giggling, so I try to break free.

"Toya! I couldn't find you, but happy new year..!" Kusanagi pants, and I turn to her. My mother lets go, and I pat her head. I think she'd be uncomfortable if I hugged her. "Wh..! Wh-What do you think you're doing?!!" She punches my gut, and storms off. I stand there in pain, and everyone comes to me at once.

"Happy new year, Toya!!" They say, and I was taken by surprise so I didn't give much of a reaction.

I smile, almost blushing. I thought they hated me again so I wasn't sure what to do. God Toya, you're embarrassing.

"Group hug!!" An exclaims, bringing everyone to hug me at once. I've never felt so happy in my life. Thank you all, for everything you've done for me so far. I look forward to spending more and more time with you.

"NEW YEAR NEW IDEA TO GET TOYA TO MODEL FOR M--" Ena snacks Akiyama's head, and they stand still. "My apologies. Happy new year."

I wave everyone goodbye, but worry if they'll get home safe. Who knows what creeps are out there at this time. But they all seem to be handling themselves, and I know some of them will be able to protect others.

"Bye, Toya.. I'll see you when we get back to school." Kusanagi mumbles, smiling. I nod, and wave goodbye. She notices my arm, and blushes. "I-Is that.. the bracelet I made for you on Christmas..?" She squeaks, and I nod again. Kusanagi then shrieks, kicking my ankle, and rushes off. Otori chases after her, and says goodbye. Ouch..!!

"I kinda wanted to walk you to your place, but it is what it is. I feel nice when I'm protecting you, it just makes me feel good for some odd reason. Happy new year, Toya." Akito waves, going to Ena and Akiyama. I slowly wave back, and blush. It's not the coldness. How does he not get embarrassed..?

Get home safe, Akito..
