Chapter Six
Let's Not Fall In Love(我们不要坠入爱河)
After that brief conversation with Yaling, I immediately went home to get ready. I stood in front of my mirror with a towel wrapped around my waist. My skin was still coated in small water droplets and my wet hair hung in strings on my head. It slightly touched my neck causing a slight ticklish sensation to run down my spine.
I'm surprised that I let my hair grow to this length. Usually I would cut it before it got to long, but it's been at least two or three months since I last cut it. It's not like the length bothered me, I just never liked it to touch my shoulders. It even fits me a little bit better than my shorter hair.
I opened the cabinet to my right and got out a towel and started drying my hair. It wouldn't fully dry it, but I needed it at least damp so I could blow dry and style it. I rubbed it for about five minutes and then touched it with my hands. It was just the right amount of damp that I could work with. I walked out into my room and tossed the towel in the dirty clothes basket on my way to the closet.
I didn't know what I was going to wear, but it had to be something that could be accepted everywhere. It really didn't matter seeing that Yaling was going to be amazed anyway seeing that she's only seen me in my school uniform. Come to think about it, I've only seen her in hers also. I wonder what she'll wear.
I searched through my wardrobe just to pick out a white long sleeve satin top and black slacks to wear. I laid them on the bed and went to my jewelry drawer. I pulled out a basic necklace and sat it beside the outfit. I also pulled out a pair of regular dress shoes, and black socks.
I didn't stray far from what I usually wore when I went out, and I didn't really care. I usually would wear basic things to keep eyes off of me, but I knew that I would have eyes on me anyway. It's just a perk of being a wealthy mans only son I guess.
After I finished getting dressed I walked back into the bathroom to fix my hair and put on my skin care products. I picked up my trusty daily moisturizer and squeezed some onto my hand. I lathered it onto my face until it was eventually coated. Then I picked up my toner and put a little on. When I got done with skin care I picked up my blow dryer and began to blow dry my hair.
It didn't take long since it was already half way dry. I turned off the hair dryer and grabbed my hair gel. I usually would have just left it but I didn't feel like moving my bangs out of my eyes all night. I squeezed a little on my hand and rubbed them together. I ran my hands through my hair, pushing my bangs to the back.
After I was satisfied I washed my hands and walked to the living room. I checked the time and sighed. It was almost time to go. I know I said I would go, but deep down I didn't want to. I grabbed my phone and keys and headed for the door. Hopefully the alcohol that I drink would drown out the noise around me.

I arrived at the club on time. It didn't take much to get in surprisingly, and it also wasn't that packed. I scanned the floor in a attempt to spot Yaling, but failed. The only thing I saw was drunk men and women dancing to the blasting music on the dance floor. Some were dancing by themselves, while others had partners that were all too comfortable dancing seductively on them.
I started to push my way through the crowd and as I did multiple women tried to dance with me. Each time I would decline, but one girl was determined to make me dance with her. The more I tried to get around her, the more she push up against me.
"Excuse me," I said as I stood still. Although I said this rather loudly, she only responded by pushing her ass up against me. I didn't know what to do seeing that this was the first time I was in this type of situation.
Without thinking I grabbed her waist and stopped her from moving. I watched as she looked up at me slowly, and a smirk spread across her thin lips. She wasn't by any way unattractive, but she wasn't my type. I didn't really know what my type was but she wasn't it.
"Either you stop and move, or I move you." My voice was calm, but the girl in front of me didn't seem that bothered by it like other people seemed to be.
"Is that a promise?" Hearing that come from her made me feel weird. I let go of her waist and tried to push past her, but it was no use. "How about we entertain each other?" That offer wasn't tempting at all. I could probably guess that she said that to all the guys she wanted to get in the pants of.
"How about you entertain yourself," I responded as I scanned the crowd for a potential quick exit. It seemed to be impossible because of the ever moving crowd of dancing people. I should've just stayed at home.
"Aww don't be like that. You're to cute to have that kind of attitude." She reached out towards my face, but luckily I moved out of the way before she could touch it.
"Don't touch me." The girl in front of me seemed taken aback. I looked her up and down and came to the conclusion that she was definitely a bit more than buzzed. It was a very unattractive look on such a pretty woman.
"Ji Nan!" I have never been so happy to hear that annoying high pitched voice until now. I turned and was met with a tight hug. I didn't know what to do and just stood there. I looked down at the short girl that arms were locked around me.
"Can you let go. You're gonna get makeup on my shirt." She pulled away from me and as I glanced at her face I narrowed my eyes.
"My makeup doesn't come off," she announced to me.
"So you have a girlfriend?" I had almost forgot that that woman from before was still there.
"No, we're just friends." Yaling explained. The girl didn't say anything but instead turned her focus to me.
"Is that what you told her to say?" I didn't respond instead I stood there and listened to Yaling argue with her. The loud music made it hard to hear everything they were saying, but I was growing more annoyed by the second. I grabbed Yalings arms causing her to look up at me.
"Where are we sitting?"
"Oh, over there," she pointed towards a table near the back of the club , "let's head over." She didn't glance back in the other girls direction when she started pulling me through the crowd.
As we walked I took the chance to look her up and down. She was wearing what appeared to be a little black dress and some black high heels. Her hair was curled. Making it look more or less shorter than what it was. She looked nice from what I could see.
"Yaling," Lin Cai squealed! I looked around the table to see Cai Long sitting staring at his phone. From how he talked about me not showing up, I would've thought that he would've been occupied by now. I took a seat beside him catching his attention.
"You actually came."
"I did." He continued typing on his phone for a minute before sitting it down and turning his attention to me.
"How's your alcohol tolerance?"
"Pretty high."
"Good, because we don't drink like pussies around here."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. What would you like to drink? I'll go order it."
"It doesn't matter," I looked him in the eye, "surprise me." A smile spread across his lips as he got up and left. I watched him as he disappeared in the crowd of people. Why couldn't Yaling behave like him? It would make her way easier to be around.
"Ji Nan you look so handsome," Lin Cai squealed. I forced myself to smile, and that prompted even more squealing from her. I didn't say anything, and just looked her over.
Lin Cai was a beautiful girl, long dark hair, a cute face, and a nice figure. She wore a black skirt with a long sleeve red top. I couldn't see her feet, but I had to guess that she also had on heels. Her and Yalings squealing almost made me miss the other girl in their group.
She was quite short and heavy set, but I wouldn't say she was fat. She was constantly around the other two, but she barely talked with them. I wonder why. She just stood there scrolling through her phone. She seemed out of place here just as I was.
"Hey," I called. Yaling turned towards me and I shook my head and pointed to the girl. She smiled and tapped her on the shoulder.
"Zuo Shi," she looked up from her phone, "he wants you." She seemed surprised but still walked towards me.
"Yes?" Her voice was softer than I thought it would be. I wonder why I hadn't heard her speak before.
"Are you busy?" I softened my voice and she seemed to notice.
She glanced down at her phone, "I suppose not."
"How about you sit and talk with me." I didn't really want to, but she seemed like she needed someone to entertain her. She didn't say anything but just sat down. "You don't seem like you want to be here."
"Well, you don't either," she snapped back.
"I didn't mean it like that, I meant it in the sense that you seem uncomfortable."
"I guess. This isn't really my crowd."
"Then why come?"
"Same reason as you."
I forced a smile, "got me there."
The more we talked the more I could feel someone watching me. I knew it was Yaling, and for that very reason I didn't turn in her direction. Just as I was about to ask Zuo Shi another question Yaling nudged me.
"What?"
"Scoot over." I started to move over only to be stopped. "No, I want to sit there." I narrowed my eyes but still started to move back to where I was. She pushed passed me and sat in between me and Zuo Shi. Lin Cai sat on the other side of the table and got on her phone.
" I wonder what is taking him so long with the drinks." I shrugged at her question and turned my attention back to Zuo Shi.
"What's your favorite drink?"
"I don't really have one. I don't like anything to strong."
I smiled at her, "that's cute." I felt the girl beside me stiffen. Before I could say anything to her Cai Long returned with the drinks.
"Sorry it took so long, there was a line." I grabbed a drink and handed it to Zuo Shi. I had taken a liking to her. From the short time that we had been talking, she actually made me feel like less of an outcast.
I could tell that Yaling wasn't happy, but I didn't care. I grabbed a drink and took a sip. I didn't come here to make her happy. I couldn't say why I came out, but the alcohol was at least a good excuse.
