Chapter One Hundred Eighty Six

Let's Not Fall In Love(我们不要坠入爱河)

Time had gone by slow after the start of class. I had tried my best to focus but I couldn't. I found myself just doodling on a piece of notebook paper most of the time. The bell for lunch had just sounded, and my phone began to ring. I pulled it out of my pocket to see Ba Wei's face. I smiled softly. I quickly answered it.

"You're quick."

He chuckled, "yeah."

"Why are you calling?"

"I just called to ask you what you wanted to drink. I gotta leave the school grounds to get the food so I thought I'd ask now."

"Where are you going?"

"I'm just going to get a sandwich from grandma. It's relatively close so I thought why not."

"hmm, that's true. Just let her recommend me something. I'm sure she has good taste."

"en okay. I'll talk to you when I get back."

He hung up and I got up from my seat and made my way out the classroom. I'm kind of glad he chose to leave the school grounds because I wanted to call my mother. I just wanted to tell her to go to my old apartment so we can talk. I know going there isn't going to make Ba Wei happy, but she won't be able to do much since I know he's going to tell Kang Wu to keep an eye on me.

I rounded the corner and was about to start climbing the stairs when someone called my name. I turned slightly to see one of the boys from my class walking behind me. I raised an eyebrow, but stopped and turned towards him.

"Can I help you with something?"

"Yeah, I actually just have a question."

"What is it?"

"Is your father the CEO of Ji Pyramid?"

I stared at him for a moment before simply nodding. I thought I'd be more upset about him knowing that but I didn't feel any particular way.

"Why are you hiding it?"

"I've never hid it, no one has ever asked," I said truthfully.

"I thought your name seemed familiar. It's funny. It explains why you always seem to have your nose stuck up at everyone."

I narrowed my eyes at the boy, "what do you mean by that?"

"Well, you always speak to people like they're beneath you. You're a rich kid, it explains it." I stared at him for a second before I turned and started to climb the stairs. I didn't really have the energy to argue with him about how I act around people.

"I'm gonna say this once," I said stopping halfway, "My wealth has nothing to do with how I treat people. I simply just don't like people. It's few people I like talking to."

"You're full of-"

"You're not one of them," I said cutting him off as I began walking again.

I expected him to say something but he didn't. When I made it to the roof I took in a deep breath and sighed. I'm kinda glad that he only found that towards the end of the school year rather the beginning. I know he's going to tell the whole class, and that means the whole school. Annoying. I walked over to the railing and sat down. I pulled my phone out, and clicked my mothers number. It rung for a few seconds before she finally picked up.

"Calling to cancel?"

"No, I'm only calling to ask you to go to the apartment dads renting for me."

"You speak of it as if you don't stay in that place anymore."

"I don't. If it's possible just come there."

"I'll be there."

I ended the call and pushed my phone back down in my pocket. I closed my eyes and just enjoyed the silence. I didn't know how long Ba Wei would be, but It gave me an opportunity to try to think of a way to ease my way into the conversation. I don't think there is a way to do that to be honest. The best case would be that the understands and is not pissed at me. The worst is that he understands and is pissed. I sighed and right on cue I heard the doors open. I opened my eyes  and my eyes met with Ba Wei's.

"That was quick," I said smirking. He nodded but didn't say anything. As he got closer I realized he was dripping in sweat. "Hey, why are you sweating so much?"

"I had to run there before she closed."

He sat down beside me, "I didn't think she'd close so early."

"She doesn't usually. She was feeling a bit sick so she decided to at least keep it open until the lunch rush was over."

I nodded and reached out and wiped the sweat off of his forehead with my sleeve. He handed me my sandwich and I thanked him. I watched as he began to eat. I bet it tasted delicious since he had to run so far in such a short time. I smiled to myself at how devoted he was at getting these sandwiches. He's so cute. I opened my sandwich and took a bite. I couldn't help but bask in the flavors for a second. I have to ask her how she makes these. We ate in silence until we finished the sandwiches.

"Here," Ba Wei said suddenly. I looked down to see a canned drink in his hand. I cocked an eyebrow but took it. "I couldn't get the drinks so I just got you a grape soda on the way back."

I smiled, "thank you."

"No problem," he sighed, "so what did you have to tell me?"

I opened the soda and took a sip, "about that..."

"What? Just say it. It can't be that bad." He put his hand on my thigh and slightly squeezed it. I sighed and just said it.

"I'm meeting with my mom today."

"What?"

"I'm meeting her at my old apartment. It's going to be a brief conversation. It's just for closure."

I looked over at him to see him looking at the concrete ground. The hand he had on my thigh slowly slid off. I reached out to grab his hand but to my surprise he pulled it away.

"Ba Wei."

"You've already made the meeting I'm guessing," he said coldly.

"Well yeah. That's why I wanted to talk to you about it now."

"What use is it to talk about it to me when you've already made your mind up?"

I furrowed my eyebrows, "I didn't want to hide this from you. I know you'd be mad."

"I don't want you to get hurt again. It has nothing to do with anger right now." His eyes met mine, "she's been trying to kill your father Ji Nan and you want to go meet her alone?"

I shifted my eyes, "I just need closure Ba Wei."

"Do you have no sense of danger," he yelled. I jumped a bit and widened my eyes. This is the first time he's ever yelled at me.

"Ba Wei I know that she's dangerous that's why I was going to ask if Kang Wu can take me there."

"So you don't want me to come with you?"

"No," I said slowly.

"Why not," he asked calmly as he stood up?

"Ba Wei please. I-"

"Why not," he asked again cutting me off."

"I just want to talk to her alone. If you're there, I'll only focus on you. I need to say what I have to say without your opinion."

He stared at me for a second, "Is that I how I make you feel? Like you don't have your voice?"

"Ba Wei I didn't say that," I said standing up. I walked up to him and hugged him, "I just need to do this okay. I'll call you when I get there, and I'll call you when I leave."

"okay."

"That's all? You're not mad?"

He wrapped his arms around me, "No I am. I can't change your mind on this so it's better to just support you."

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine."

"I'll come home as soon as I can okay," I said looking at him.

He didn't say anything and I looked back at the ground. Fuck, I'm so dumb.
