Chapter One Hundred Sixty+Sixty One

Let's Not Fall In Love(我们不要坠入爱河)

Sorry guys for the long wait for these two chapters but they're here now and I hope you enjoy. ♥️

Ba Wei left right when the sun was setting. I could tell that he didn't want to leave. He gave me a long kiss before he finally left. It had been about three hours since then and I just was watching tv. I looked down at my phone and thought about texting Ba Wei, but I feel like I'd be interrupting. I was worried. I would be lying if I said I wasn't. The thought of him not coming back was fresh in my mind and it was terrifying. Out of all the people that have come and gone in my life Ba Wei would be the one that would break me.

I let out a sigh and laid my head back and closed my eyes. I let my thoughts shift to my mother. I hadn't heard anything from my father, but he did say that he had did everything he could. I sat up and grabbed my phone. I scrolled to my fathers number and clicked on it. I doubt he knew anything new but it wouldn't hurt to ask. It rung twice before someone answered.

"Hello,"a soft female voice called.

"Um, can you give the phone to my father?"

I didn't mean to be rude to this lady but I didn't really care that she was my so called step mom. Well almost was. I had forgot about her since that day if I'm being honest. There was shuffling on the phone before my fathers voice rang out.

"Do you need to be so rude to her even over the phone?"

"Have you heard anything about mom?"

He was silent for a minute, "I heard she was bailed out."

"By who," I asked confused?

"Who do you think? That's all my people know. I told you I will do nothing else for her."

"I know. I just..."

"You just what? If you think there Is a possibility that I still love that women you're very mistaken"

"We both know you do, but save face in front of that new women of yours."

My father chuckled, "I'm not saving face. I don't have any feelings for that women at all. I only did that much because of you. I may be hard on you, but you're still my son."

"Since I'm still your son, can you at least not be so disapproving. He treats me well."

There was silence, "what do you see in a person like him, Let alone a man? I don't disapprove because of the situation. I disapprove because of who he is."

"His father doesn't define him."

"You say that, but he is the heir to that gang. If anything happens to his father he will be forced to take over whether he likes it or not."

"That's true, but it's not like I'm not a criminal. I think we fit each other well."

"I disagree."

I let out a chuckle, "of course you do. You haven't even talked to him without being hostile."

"Hmm since you're speaking so highly of him. Let's have dinner soon."

"The three of us," I asked surprised?

"No, the four of us."

I could feel my eye twitch at the realization, "you're going to bring that woman?"

"Of course. She is my fiancé after all."

"Why-"

"I don't want to hear your mouth about her. If I have to tolerate that man, you'll tolerate her.  Let's all get along."

I stayed silent for a second and let out a sigh, "i guess that's fair. How are you doing?"

He seemed to understand what I was asking, "I'm doing fine. The best I can be in this situation."

I was about to say something when there was a knock on the door. I turned towards it and after a minute they knocked again.

"Who is knocking at this time of night?"

"Maybe it's that dog of yours."

"Don't call him a dog," I said laughing ad I got up.

I walked up to the door and opened it. I came face to face with Yaling. I was initially stunned because I hadn't seen her in such a long time. She still looked the same and as he eyes met mine a smile spread across her face.

"Hey dad I'll call you back later okay."

He didn't say anything and just ended the call. I pushed my phone in my pocket and crossed my arms.

"What are you doing here?"

"Um, I just happened to be in the area and you've been missing school."

"So you came all the way here for what?"

"Um, to see if you're at home."

"And what if I wasn't?"

She lowered her eyes, "I was just worried."

I let out a sigh and stepped to the side, "come in. It's so late, do you know how this looks from the outside."

"I'm sorry," she said lowly as she walked in.

If I'm being honest I would've sent her away but I let her in for information. She is really close to Cai Long, and I wanted to know what she knew about him. We walked over to the couch and sat down.

"How's everyone in your group? It's been a while since I've seen them?"

"Ah, they're good. I didn't think you'd care."

"It's only to be polite."

"Ah okay. Um Ji Nan."

"Hmm?"

"Do you hate me ?"

"I don't necessarily hate you. I just don't care. Why would you think I hate you?"

"Well Cai Long said-"

"You know that guy hates me."

"No he doesn't," she said quickly, "he just doesn't understand."

" Yaling he understands. The guy likes you and you being infatuated with someone else doesn't make him feel good," I said laughing.

"Hmm that's not true. He just is very protective?"

"And why do you think that is?"

"Um, every since my brother died he has been like that."

My ear perked at the sentence. Brother? What brother? She had never mentioned having one, but then again I barely listened to her when she talked.

"I didn't know you had a brother."

"Yeah I don't mention it often since we had different mothers."

"Hmm. I'm sorry for your loss."

"Are you," she asked with her head down?

"Excuse me?"

"I said," she lifted her head and looked me directly in my eyes, "are you really sorry?"

" of course I am."

She was silent for a minute before she tilted her head. The more I studied her face the more unsettled I began to feel. The silence in the air didn't help either. I had a bad feeling.

"How can you be sorry," she stood up and turned her back to me. She slid off her book bag and turned to me, "you killed him didn't you?"

Chapter One Hundred Sixty One

I was stunned as that sentence hit my ears. I just stared blankly at her and she repeated the question.

"What?"

She looked at me blankly, "you heard me."

"If this is a joke, it's not funny Yaling."

She laughed a bit, "do you think I'd lie about this?"

"I don't put anything past you."

"Well that hurts. I would think you'd think more of me after everything we've been through."

I sucked my teeth, "I don't have time for games. You can get out if you came here just to show me that you're a stalker."

"A stalker? Is that what you think of me," she began to laugh after she said that. "Hehh, okay. You got me. I'm lying, but does my love mean so little to you."

"Yes. To be frank I don't care how you feel about me. I don't care about you at all."

"What are you saying? We were perfect before he came. You loved me then."

"My boyfriend coming into my life had nothing to do with my feelings for you because they never changed."

"You still love me-"

"You were a nuisance then and you're one now," I said cutting her off. I let out a sigh and got up and walked back over to the door. "If you wouldn't mind I'd like you to leave."

"But..."

"I hate all kinds of people but the type I hate the most are liars. You may think you love me but it's just your mind. You shouldn't obsess over people like me."

She slowly got up from her chair and made her way over to the door. I studied her face and she was indeed crying. I knew she had issues but lurking around in my past. That's a new low for her. I can't say when I heard her say it my heart didn't drop. I half thought she was serious until I saw that she smirking as she said it.

I opened the door, "find someone who is actually interested and is normal."

"She has, "a voice said from behind me.

I tried to turn my head to look but before I could something hard hit my head. The room started to spin and I stumbled backwards a bit. If I didn't place my hand on the nearest wall I would have most definitely fell.

I reached up to touch my head only to be greeted by the feeling of blood. I was breathing heavy as I heard my front door click shut. I looked in that direction with blurry vision trying to identify who was in my house, but couldn't. I didn't recognize the voice so it can't be anyone close to Yaling.

"Well well, look at you. You're not so tough when your little bodyguard is gone."  They started to walk towards me, "you know I remember him being much scarier. How could he possibly kill someone?"

"Who the hell are you?"

"Why do you need to know? You didn't ask that to the guy you murdered."

"How do you-" I was cut off by another hard hit to the head.

Even though I had a hand on the wall the other hit made me fall to my knees. Blood started to stream down my face. My vision was even more blurry. I looked up in the direction that should be that persons face. I blinked over and over but I couldn't see clearly.

Dammit. At this rate they could kill me and I would be helpless. Who the fuck is this guy and how does he know Yaling? Why does he know about what I did? All these questions and no answers.

"So baby," the voice started, "what should we do the pretty boy first?"

"I think that pipe is working wonders," Yaling said.

"I think he's still trying to figure out who I am? It's funny really."

"How so," I asked? "Am I supposed to know who you are?"

My head was throbbing but I knew I had to distract myself from that pain. Maybe if I antagonized this guys ego a bit they'd just tell me who they are? I took a deep breath and slowly but surely got to my feet.

"Oh look, he can still  stand Yaling. He's a tough one. You liked him more before you met me didn't you?"

"Quit your yapping and tell me who you are already? Judging by your voice I don't know you, so you have to be a friend of hers."

The person laughed, "oh I'm more than her friend. I'm surprised you don't recognize me. Is your vision that blurry? You don't remember your old friend." He walked directly into my line of sight and my eyes widened, "Me and you were great back in the day."

"Zou Xue...is that you?"

"Oh he remembers. I had thought you'd forgotten all about me. I was only a third wheel to you and Cheng De."

I stood there speechless as the guy backed away from me. Zuo Xue, it was definitely that bastard. I hadn't seen him since the day I left and I didn't even speak to him. I barely remember speaking to the guy honestly. He was so up Cheng De's ass that I didn't ever bother. He was always following his directions religiously. He thought of Cheng De as his friend when he only saw him as a dog.

"What do you want?"

"It's simple really." He grabbed Yaling by the hair and kissed her. He pulled back and smiled really big, "you."
