Chapter One Hundred Forty

Let's Not Fall In Love(我们不要坠入爱河)

"Is everything resolved with your father," I asked as we walked onto the streets in front of the school gates?

The night air was cold and just by the temperature I knew it wouldn't be long before the first snow. I can't really say that I liked the cold that much but I have always grew up in places where snow fell. I guess traveling to warmer climate places during winter will make you feel that way.

"Somewhat. There's been a lot of activity from both my fathers group and the other so it's kind of at like a truce."

I nodded and and looked over at him, "how do you think you did on the midterm?"

He made a pfft noise, "better than previous years." He reached over and grabbed my hand, that's all thanks to you though."

I intertwined our fingers, "that's only if you place higher than you did the years before."

"I know I will."

I was about to say something when someone called out to Ba Wei. I thought he would stop walking or at least look behind him but he didn't. He kept walking and looked straight ahead. The person called again and Ba Wei seemed to speed up walking.

"Ba Wei-"

"I hear them," he said cutting me off, "ignore them."

I nodded and didn't react anymore as the people called his name. We were almost to my house when a hand landed on Ba Wei's shoulder. Almost immediately Ba Wei stopped walking.

"Ah caught ya," the unknown guy said.

Ba Wei turned around and to my surprise he pulled me so that I was standing behind him. If I was sure that this person was a friend of Ba Wei I would've blushed but my senses are on high alert.

"Can I help you?"

"Wow, you're just as cocky as the rumors say."

As he continued to talk I looked him over. He was a older man, a bit on the skinny side but he still had a bit of muscle on him. He had dark hair, olive skin, and very dark eyes. He wore a white muscle shirt with black jeans. If I'm being hind this clothing didn't really match his aura. Strange.

"Your fathers been making my work very hard."

"If you have an issue with my father take it up with him."

The guy laughed, "now why would  I do that when I can make an example out of you."

It was a obvious threat but Ba Wei didn't have any reaction to it. He just let go of my hand and took off his bag and handed It to me. It seemed like he was prepared for this kind of situation.

"Ba Wei," I called.

He didn't have a reaction to me calling his barn but the guy did. His eyes snapped to mine and a wide grin spread across his face.

"Ah you must be the new addition to the gang. I have to say that you're more beautiful in person." I didn't say anything and just looked at the man coldly. I was a bit confused on why such a man would compliment me so openly, and I was about to say something else when Ba Wei started to speak.

"I don't have time for your childish games so get the reason why you're here?"

"Aww, so boring."

I watched as a few guys started to walk towards us. It was quite a few people and my this time I had already assumed what was about to happen. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out these people were probably planning on jumping us. They all were grinning as they started to surround us.

Even the people who were just passing by could assume what was about to happen. In fact even though the streets were a little lively they seemed to quiet down almost instantly,

"Answer," Ba Wei said calmly.

"I believe you know why?"

The guy was still talking when Ba Wei hit him. My eyes widened in surprise as I saw the guy go to the ground. He gripped his nose almost instantly and just like that all the guys that were surrounding us attacked all at once. I watched as Ba Wei knocked all of them down one by one. Although some were able to hit him, Ba Wei didn't even flinch. Hell, he didn't move from the spot in front of me really. I was about to stop him when I felt a hard tug on my hair and pain in my stomach.

"Ah," was the only sound I could get out before I hit the ground.

I didn't have much of a time to react since as soon as I hit the concrete they began kicking me. The only thing I could think about in this moment wasn't even the small blows they were giving to my body but rather about Ba Wei. He was calm as he was fighting and this was the first time that I had seen him fight. Sure it was also the first time that I had purposely let people kick me but it was worth it to see how he moves. He was calm, and you could tell that with every punch he threw it was confidence within it. It was nice to see honestly. He fought much better than my so called friends from back then.

"You're being annoying," I said as I grabbed one of the feet kicked me rather hard in the ribs.

The guy seemed suprised so I used that opportunity to quickly get up. I slid my bag off my back and simply just looked at the two boys.

I smiled, "give me your best shot."

They didn't even get the chance to respond to that because Ba Wei yanked hard on my arm. I turned to look at him with cold eyes. I watched as he scanned me and then his eyes met back up with mine.

"Did they hit you?"

His voice was cold and I could tell that he was angry. I shook my head yes and his eyes shot directly behind me. I placed my hand on his chest, and gave it a nice pat.

"It's fine. It was just a few kicks. They're just kids anyway."

Ba Wei looked down at me, "I don't care."

I was taken aback and I soon got what Ba Wei meant by that because he immediately started to walk in their direction. I quickly grabbed his arm and he stopped walking.

"What?"

"Don't."

It's not like I didn't want him to beat them, I just didn't want to stick around much longer. He looked back at me and I guess he read my expression because he sighed. I let go of his arm and he immediately bent down to get his bag. He grabbed mine and handed it to me.

"Let's get out of here before the cops show up."

Ba Wei glanced around, "yeah you're right."

——

When we made it to my apartment Ba Wei was in somewhat of a bad mood. I had tried to joke around with him but he just ignored me. As we climbed the stairs I couldn't help but glance over at him.

"Hey," I grabbed his hand, "why are you upset?" I thought he would push my hand away but he didn't, instead he intertwined our fingers.

"I'm not."

"Bullshit. You're obviously upset."

He looked over at me and sighed, "I just didn't want you to have to be involved."

"It's fine. The kicks didn't hurt that bad. I've been through worse."

"That's not the point."

I sighed and let go of his hand to get my key out. I quickly unlocked the door, and walked in. I was about to take off my shoes when Ba Wei hands slid underneath my shirt.

"What are you doing," I asked as I leaned my body into his?

"Nothing."

I chuckled, "you rubbing your hands up and down my body isn't nothing."

He kisses my neck, "I just want to touch you."

I dropped my bag and laid my head on his shoulder, "How about we make a deal?"

"Maybe."

"Let me find something to cook for dinner, and after you can touch me however you want?" He removed his hands from underneath my shirt and kissed me.

"You sound like a woman talking about dinner."

I chuckled and pushed myself off of him, "If I was a woman would you still be into me huh?" I slid off my shoes and walked into the kitchen.

"Of course. Gender isn't the reason I like you," he said as he took off his shoes and sat his bag down. I watched as he walked toward me and leaned on the island.

"Then why," I asked tilting my head?

"It's because it's you."

I let out a laugh, "god saying sweet things really doesn't fit your character."

He shook his head and pushed off the counter, "next time I'll call you an ugly bastard."

"You wouldn't dare."

"Sweet words don't fit me right?" I was about to say something but he beat me to it, "I'm going to take a shower, so get to cooking fuck face."

I couldn't help but laugh, "I hope the water boils you alive."
