Chapter 50
The Divorced Billionaire Heiress
Samantha Lindt hated Nicole, but since
Nicole had something over her head,
Samantha dared not get into an all-out
fight with her.
âMy experience in leading teams is no
less than those on the list, and my
performance is one of the best among
the senior managers. Vice President
Nicole, are you still holding a grudge
against me because of what happened
last time?â
Samantha was obviously a bit
discontented.
Nicole lowered her eyes and laughed. âNo, I donât hold a grudge against you, but I do remember that
you were against
cooperating with J&L before this. Iâm just afraid your attitude will affect our
cooperation, soâ¦â
âI will comply with the companyâs decision.â Samantha eagerly showed her allegiance.
Nicole gave her a perfunctory smile. âThis
list has been announced at the board
meeting, so Iâm afraid thereâs no way to
change it now. Letâs talk about it next
time we have the chance.â
She had already started to pack up the
things on her desk, giving Samantha an
obvious signal that she was done with
this conversation
Samantha gritted her teeth and said, âIâm
sure it can still be changed. Vice
President Nicole, just wait and see.â
She then turned on her heels and left
Nicoleâs office with confidence. Nicoleâs
gaze was deep as she raised her
eyebrow. âGreat! She took the bait.â
In the afternoon, Logan called Nicoleâs
office phone. âDirector Zielinski wants
you to meet him at his office.â
âAn old man thatâs about to retire? Nicole
raised her eyebrows. âSure.â
Aside from Grant and Logan, no one in
the company knew of Nicoleâs real
identity. As the newly instated Vice
President, Nicole would like to see what
Micah Zielinski wanted to talk to her
about
Micah liked to engage in speculative
trading. He only became a member of
Stanton Corporationâs board of directors
through special means and had refused t
o let go ever since. However, he did not
have many shares in the company and
was not considered a threat, so they let
him be. Nicole knocked on Micahâs office door and heard a tired voice coming from inside, âCome in.â
She smiled and went in âMr. Zielinski, you were looking for me?â Micahâs eyes lit up when he saw her,
but h e suddenly thought of something and instantly looked regretful. âCome, sit down.â He pointed to
the seat i n front of him. Nicole took a seat. Micah smiled and coughed slightly. âMs. Nicole, youâre very
pretty. No wonder Grant was willing to disregard so many objections and forcefully pushed you into this
position.â Nicoleâs smile deepened. âSoâ¦he didnât like that Grantâs backing me?â
She did not explain anything and just
smiled at him
Micah saw that she was not carrying on
the conversation and coldly snorted. âDo
you know that your position was originally
reserved for Samantha Lindt?â
âIs he trying to scare me?â
Nicole paused for a moment and said, âM
s. Lindt is certainly capable, but Iâm more
suitable for this position.â
Micahâs face instantly sank and
threatened her. âYoung people who are
arrogant in the workplace and have no
respect for their elders will suffer.â
Nicole smiled and stood up. âThen I can
only prove myself with my capabilities. M
r. Zielinski, if thereâs nothing else, Iâll take
my leave.â
âNicole!â Micah was a little anxious. He was dissatisfied with the direction of this meeting and
instructed, âAdd Samantha Lindt to J&L Corporationâs project team.â Nicoleâs smile widened. âIt is really
him⦠Samantha Lindtâs backer is such a miserable old man? Did she think that Iâd be intimidated by
this old geezer? How
absurd!
Micah saw that Nicole only smiled
without a word. His face turned glum.â
Did you hear what I just said?â
âYesâ¦â
Micahâs expression eased slightly. Nicole
continued, âBut I canât do it.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âIt wonât be fair to the others.â
âNicole, do you think that youâre safe just
because you have Grant? Do you believe
that Iâll.â Micah was exasperated and
threatened her.
âFire me? I donât believe that the board
will fire me because of Samantha Lindt. 1
suppose Ms. Lindt didnât tell you what!
have on her when she came crying to
you. Please tell her not to mess with me.â
Nicole swept a clear and cold glance at
the shocked Micah Zielinski, then stood u
p and walked out without hesitation.
As soon as she left Micahâs office, she
called Grantâs private number.
âWhatâs wrong, N?â
*Thereâs something fishy with Micah
Zielinski. Samantha Lindt is one of his
people. He must be the one who wanted
to prevent our cooperation with J&L
Corporation in the first place.â
Grant laughed and praised her. âYou
caught on quick.â
âYou already knew about it?â
âHow could I not know of the dissent
among my companyâs board of
directors?â
Nicole sighed in relief. âThen Iâm relieved.â
âThat old fox is not easy to deal with, so
Iâll handle him. You should just focus on
following up on J&Lâs cooperation. By the
way, I heard that Eric Ferguson plans to
personally take charge of this project.â
Grant gave her a heads-up.
