Chapter 117

fighting in front of her parents (requested)

Yeji Imagines (gxg)

Yeji's parents knew something wasn't quite right the second the car pulled into the driveway.

Due to her crazy schedule, she hasn't had much time to go visit her family so when she got the news that she had a few days off, it seemed like a fun idea to go spend it with her parents and, of course, she wanted you to tag along with her.

Not just because she wanted to also be able to spend those few days with you but also because her parents adore you and she knew they'd never forgive her if you didn't tag along too.

But somewhere along the line on the trip there today, the excitement you both felt before faded and was replaced with annoyance and frustration.

Neither of you knew the reason why but you just couldn't seem to see eye to eye today and it was the worst possible time for that considering you'd be around her parents for a few days and what parents want to see their child unhappy and fighting with the love of their life so much?

When the car pulled up in front of her parent's home, you and Yeji got out and didn't say a word to each other as you grabbed your bags and walked up the driveway.

The smiles on her parents' faces were gone now when they saw that you and Yeji looked so unhappy.

"Yeji, Y/N, it's so good to see you both." Her mom grinned before she pulled Yeji into a hug while her dad pulled you in for one.

"What happened? You both sounded so happy on the phone earlier." Her dad said.

"We were." You sighed.

"And then she decided to be a pain in the neck," Yeji grumbled as she stepped into her parents' home.

"I decided to be?" You repeated with a scoff. "Oh, come on, Yeji. It wasn't that big of a deal."

"What's going on?" Her mom asked as she closed the front door behind the four of you.

"We woke up late. Somebody, I won't name names, forgot to set the alarm."

"It's very obvious who you're talking about considering there's only two of us in the house and it wasn't you." You said and folded your arms over your chest.

"You said it, I didn't." She spoke before raising her hands mockingly. "And then we woke up so late, we didn't have time to eat anything. We barely had time to brush our teeth before we had to go because we would've missed our flight otherwise."

"That doesn't seem like a big reason to be so upset with each other." Her dad said.

"Y/N said that she'd pack the chargers. She packed hers but guess what? She forgot mine. So now I have no way to charge my phone."

"We can always buy a new charger for you, Yeji. Heck, you can afford a thousand chargers if you needed!" You said, raising your voice slightly.

"It's not that I can, it's that everything has seemingly gone wrong today all because of you! Sometimes you annoy the absolute hell out of me!"

"Yeji," Her mom said as she reached out to place a hand on her daughter's shoulder, wordlessly telling her to watch her words so she didn't say anything she couldn't take back.

"I annoy you?" You asked before shaking your head in disbelief. "You barely spoke a word to me on the way here! And you know, you're not so perfect either. Why couldn't you set an alarm so I didn't forget? Why was it all on me when you're the one who wanted to come here for a few days? No offense to your parents because I love them but it was your idea, not mine. So why is it all on me?"

She folded her arms over her chest and glared at you.

"You're not perfect either! Sometimes, you annoy me too!"

"Oh, yeah? Like when?"

"Like right now, Yeji!" You shouted.

"If you're so annoyed then why don't you just go home?" Yeji asked you.

"Okay, okay. We've crossed a line now." Her dad said as he stepped into the fight.

"Maybe I will!"

"Good. Maybe I'll even stay here for a few days extra so I don't have to come home to you! A few less headaches for me. I could use a break!"

After the words left Yeji's lips, you both went quiet.

"Both of you need to calm down and take a step back from this fight to see things." Her mom said. "You've both said things that are not okay to say to someone you love."

You huffed and sat down on the sofa while Yeji turned her back and kept her arms folded over her chest.

"No, don't do that." Her dad said as he put his hands on her shoulders and spun her back around.

"Look, we can see that your day didn't start how you hoped it would. You ran late, you forgot things, and you were upset. That's understandable. But it's unacceptable to blow that out of proportion and say things you don't mean, whether that's small digs at each other or calling each other hurtful names. One day, in the heat of the moment, one of you could say something that destroys your relationship altogether." Her mom spoke.

You and Yeji looked at each other from across the room.

"We've seen how in love you both are. It's very obvious how much you mean to one another. Your relationship is very healthy and you're both too in love to stay mad at each other, you both know it just as much as we do. Don't throw everything away over one silly little fight that went way further than it should've." Her dad lectured.

She sighed and took a couple of steps forward just as you got up and walked the rest of the way to her.

"I guess they're right." You said.

"Yeah, they are pretty wise. They've been together for a while, I guess they know how to make a relationship work. They know what they're talking about, even if I don't want to admit that." Yeji mumbled and her parents laughed in response.

"Yeji, I don't like fighting with you. I love you so much and I hate when we don't get along or see eye to eye. I know it's normal that couples fight and we didn't say anything too extreme but what we did say was unnecessary."

"I agree. We should've sat down and talked this out rationally." She said before taking your hands into hers. "I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry too."

You both cracked a small smile at each other and then leaned in to share a kiss, only to be reminded that her parents were watching you both as they gushed over how cute you were together.

"There they are. The happy, in love, and very adorable couple is back." Her mom grinned as she put her hand over her heart.

"Can you two go away or at least look away?" She asked, giving them the side-eye.

They looked at each other and then back at you two.

"Not a chance. We had to see you fight, now we get to see you make up, so we know things are okay between you for sure."

Yeji playfully rolled her eyes before pulling you in for a sweet kiss and her parents were very happy to see it.

"You're so cute together." Her dad commented, his smile big and bright.

"Now we can give you two a little privacy since we have a little peace of mind." Her mom spoke before tugging Yeji's dad into the other room.

You looked into your girlfriend's brown eyes, seeing the look of genuine sorrow inside of them.

"I'm sorry I forgot to set an alarm and that I forgot your charger... and that I said you're annoying because you're not. But you are perfect in my eyes, so I'm mad at myself for saying you're not."

She shook her head with a chuckle.

"Hey, you're not the only one at fault here. I made things worse than they were. I got upset over two very small things. I can get a new charger anytime we're here and I could've set an alarm too, you were very right about that. I guess the lack of sleep and stress has been getting to me. But I refuse to use that as an excuse. I'm so sorry, Y/N,"

"I'm sorry too, baby. But you're forgiven, as long as I am too."

Her eyes began to sparkle and her lips tugged up as she nodded.

"You're forgiven."

You put your arms around her neck and kissed her passionately.

"Can we try not to fight again? I know it happens sometimes but I hate when we fight."

"I hate it too. I say next time, we try to sit down and talk things out. Our emotions, our stresses, anything bothering us that could turn into an argument needs to be talked out and listened to."

"I like that idea." You said before kissing her. "And I love you."

"I love you too."

She wrapped her arms around you and kissed you again while her parents peeked into the room.

They were overjoyed that you'd made up and hoped that was the last time they'd ever see you fight.
