Chapter 112

you have a heart attack - part two (requested)

Yeji Imagines (gxg)

The ambulance pulled up to the emergency room doors just a few minutes later.

But for Yeji, it felt like it had been hours.

She had never felt such panic or impatience as she rode along in the ambulance with your hand wrapped in hers as you, quite literally, held on for dear life.

Your grip had been getting weaker with every passing second and she had the horrible feeling that you were slipping away.

As the stretcher was pulled out from the back of the ambulance, Yeji managed to get herself out and walk with you as you were rushed inside.

Her legs felt like jelly as everyone began to yell things out to each other about what needed to be done and what was happening but she refused to leave your side.

That was until she had no other choice.

"You have to stay back here." A nurse said as she kept Yeji from going into the room with her.

"What?" Yeji asked in shock. "That's my girlfriend! She's having a heart attack! She needs me!"

She tried to push past the nurse as the anxiety became overwhelming.

"Let me through! Y/N, baby!" She yelled and tried to push past the nurse through her sobs.

"I'm sorry. You can't."

Yeji gave up on fighting to get in there with you because she knew there was no way she'd be able to get past the nurse and she didn't want to make the situation any worse.

"If you wait in the waiting room, someone will give you an update as soon as possible."

The nurse then went into the room and closed the curtain behind her.

Yeji could barely move as she tried to make it out to the waiting room.

Her eyes were blurry from tears and she wondered for a second if she, too, was having a heart attack from how much her heart ached.

As she went to sit down, the girls arrived and potted her.

"Yeji!" Lia called out and Yeji stood back up as the girls ran to her.

They hugged each other tightly as Yeji sobbed and struggled to catch her breath.

"Do you know anything?" Ryujin asked as Yeji sat down.

"No." She replied as she wiped her eyes. "They wouldn't let me go back with her."

"That's probably for the best," Chaeryeong said as she tried to reason with her friend.

"I know but..." Yeji paused and looked down at her hands on her lap, watching them tremble. "What if that was the last time I ever saw her? She told me that she didn't want to die and I told her she wouldn't. I want to be there for her."

"Yeji," Yuna softly spoke as she began to cry with her.

"What if I lose her? What if she doesn't make it? That's my last memory of her and I wouldn't even be able to be with her. She'd be surrounded by unfamiliar faces as she passes away and I know she would be so scared. I can't lose her. I can't!"

"Shh," Ryujin shushed softly. "Yeji, you're freasking yourself out. You have to take a deep breath."

Yeji closed her eyes as more tears fell down her cheeks and took a deep breath.

"Y/N is so strong. She's not going to die. She's going to be okay." Chaeryeong assured.

"And Chaeryeong gave her some aspirin at the restaurant and that's supposed to help the situation a little. I'm sure she'll be okay. She got here quick." Lia said.

"Yeah." Yeji sniffled.

"She'll be okay, we know it," Yuna spoke as she put her head on Yeji's shoulder, all five of them trying to keep each other strong in these moments.

--

Yeji wasn't sure how long she'd been asleep when she was suddenly shaken awake.

She didn't even remember falling asleep but she'd been crying and she was exhausted from everything and fell asleep somewhere along the line.

But when she was shaken awake, she opened her eyes to see the girls looking at her.

"What? What's happening?" Yeji asked, terrified.

"The doctor's coming," Yuna said.

Yeji looked over to see the doctor approaching her.

"Are you Yeji?"

"I am!" Yeji quickly said and wiped away the tear stains from her cheeks. "Is Y/N okay? Oh, god, please tell me she's okay."

The doctor sat down in the seat beside Yeji.

"We gave her some medication to help stop the heart attack. We had to do surgery as well."

Yeji began to cry again.

"We would've come out and spoken to you about everything sooner but every second is crucial when it comes to stopping heart attacks. We succeeded in time. She's going to be okay."

Yeji let out the biggest breath of relief that she'd ever let go of and the girls all did the same.

"We stopped it but that doesn't mean the hard part is over. Y/N is going to need a lot of help getting around for a while. It takes six to twelve weeks to recover, sometimes even longer. It's still going to be a long road ahead to recovery."

"That's okay. I'll take care of her, I promise." Yeji said with a proud smile.

"And we'll help. We promise, Yeji. We'll help however we can, whenever needed." Lia promised as she squeezed Yeji's shoulder.

"Can I see her?"

"You can. She might be a little out of it from the surgery. She's going to be very tired and in a lot of pain for a while." The doctor said.

Yeji just nodded as she stood up.

"We'll come see her later. You go be with your girl for a while." Chaeryeong said.

But before Yeji got too far, she turned around to go and rush back to the girls to give them a quick but much-needed hug.

When she pulled away, she ran back to the doctor and followed him to where you were resting and recovering.

"She'll be here for about four or five days so we can keep an eye on her."

"Can I stay with her?" Yeji asked.

"You seem like the type that if we said no to that, you'd protest and never leave anyways." He laughed. "You can stay."

"Thank you so much." She said before they came to a stop and he opened the door.

Yeji stepped inside and saw you on the hospital bed.

She heard the beeping of the machine as your heart rate was monitored and despite how it felt as though her knees were going to give out, she ran to you right away.

Your eyes were closed but she watched them open as she gently grabbed your hand, making sure to be careful of the IV that was hooked up to it.

"There you are, my tough girl." She smiled through her tears and sat down beside you. "How are you feeling?"

"Sore." You sleepily mumbled. "And sleepy."

"I bet." She said as she kissed your hand. "You just underwent a huge surgery, I think it's normal to feel that way."

You just hummed and closed your eyes.

"I'm so happy you made it. I was so scared I was going to lose you."

"You'll never lose me, baby," You mumbled. "I love you."

"I love you too." She spoke tearfully and kissed your hand. "Get some rest. When you wake up, I'll still be right here. I'm sure the girls will too."

You cracked a smile as she used her free hand to gently brush her fingers through your hair.

She wasn't going to talk to you too much and keep you awake when rest was important right now after such a big surgery and ordeal.

But she wanted you to know she was right there with you, even as you fell back asleep.

"I'm never leaving your side again. I'm so happy you're okay." She whispered before holding your hand a little tighter as you fell asleep again.

Her eyes felt so heavy but she fought hard to keep them open because she wanted to be awake when your eyes opened again.

She loves you more than anything and she'd make sure that you never forgot it.
