Twenty minutes later, Father Huo, Mother Huo, and Huo Jing also arrived at Qin Yao’s house.

The moment Mother Huo saw that L1 was safe, her eyes reddened with emotion.

L1, not knowing how to handle such situations, awkwardly stood in place as Mother Huo pulled him into her embrace.

Qin Yao stood a short distance away, observing the scene with a smile, but did not intervene.

Once Mother Huo had calmed down, everyone took their seats.

"Wait," L1 finally spoke up. He sat between Father and Mother Huo, with Huo Yan and Huo Ze on either side of him. Huo Jing and Qin Yao sat across from him. After a glance at Qin Yao, he turned to Mother Huo and said, "I… I don’t want to go back with you."

L1 was used to being direct, but as soon as he finished speaking, he noticed that the expressions on Father Huo, Mother Huo, and Huo Jing’s faces mirrored those of Huo Yan and Huo Ze from earlier—utter shock and confusion.

Even though Huo Yan and Huo Ze had already heard this once, they were still upset.

Huo Yan turned away in anger.

Huo Ze let out a heavy huff.

Huo Jing frowned deeply.

Qin Yao gave him a reassuring look.

Finally, Father Huo spoke, "Why?"

Mother Huo looked at Qin Yao, then back at L1. Her voice was soft and soothing as she asked, "What happened? Why don’t you want to come back with us? Did we do something wrong?"

L1 opened his mouth, wanting to explain that they hadn’t done anything wrong.

He had left the Huo family for two reasons. First, his observation of the family was complete. Second, he didn’t want to be forced to take any more medicine.

However, as the words reached his lips, L1 hesitated. Mother Huo’s hurt expression made him realize that bluntly stating his reasons might hurt them. He turned again to look at Qin Yao.

Understanding that the little system couldn’t handle the situation alone, Qin Yao smiled and spoke up, "There’s a long explanation behind this, so let me explain."

Father and Mother Huo turned their attention to Qin Yao.

Qin Yao thought for a moment and decided to explain the situation as simply and clearly as possible.

He briefly organized his thoughts and then revealed the truth about L1’s identity.

Explaining L1’s identity was actually quite simple.

But after Qin Yao finished speaking, his explanation seemed hard to believe.
