Chapter sixty two
His Mate: The Demon King
"Aliyah," Irene yelled, running into the hall and behind her was a confused Rasmus. Everyone turned on their entrance and she quickly rushed to Aliyah who was getting up to meet her. "Edward..." she called, her voice seemed to be failing for she kept opening her mouth and closing it but nothing was coming out except Edward.
"No, I have to go," Rasmus said, finally suspecting what could be going on but as he got to the door, he paused and then turned to Alan, "can I borrow a car?"
"You can borrow mine," Sean said and stepped out in front of the door, "I'm coming with you."
Aliyah dropped Irene's hand and rushed to them, "how fast can you drive?" she asked Rasmus.
"Very fast," he replied and she ran out of conference room, followed by Steven and Sean. A few seconds later, a car pulled over in front of the hall and the passenger's door was pushed open. With speed, Rasmus rushed and entered the car in a second. The seat changing didn't last long as the car sped away soon after.
Irene watched them with tear filled eyes, she can't even tell why she didn't go with them but if what she saw happens to be true, then they are already too late as it is. "Irene, what happened?" she heard and turned to see all eyes on her. Scarlet held up the crying Asher, "he just won't stop crying, has something happened to Edward?"
A line of tear trailed down her cheek and she sniffled, "all I can say is that we have to go after them."
Hearing that was the last straw as Alan jumped into action, giving Aton commands to prepare the cars and arrange some strong wolves. What ever it is, he will get to the bottom of it and his daughter and her mate must be protected.

Due to the fact that they were going by car, the hillside that holds Edward's palace was farther than it should have been had they traveled through the woods in their wolf forms. And that fact alone was making Aliyah go insane. So many time she had wanted to jump out of the car and just run to the palace but Sean and Steven happened to calm her down, reminding her that it would be better if they arrived together and asking Rasmus to run under the bright sun is suicidal.
They were able to get her to stay but it didn't mean she was comfortable. The pain had subsided entirely but the fact that she doesn't know what could have hurt Edward so badly was what that was making her panic. Eventually, after what felt like a long drive to Aliyah, they approached the hill and as they drove up it, connecting to the road that leads to the palace, not only Aliyah, but their hearts were thumping really loud in their chests.
However, they weren't prepared for what they were about to see when they saw the tip of the palace and what looked like flame. Rasmus stepped on the accelerator and they all gasped in shock when they finally saw the palace. The gigantic mansion was covered in blue flame and it was clear that it wasn't burning as every brick was still in place.
Rasmus screeched to a stop and Aliyah and the rest jumped out of the car to watch in horror at what was before them. There was no heat coming from the fire and that means that it was cold, however, the main question was why Edward was burning his palace in a cold fire.
"Okay, I think this means that he is in there, we just have to find him," Sean said and walked up to the palace but as soon as he placed his hand inside the fire, a burst of wind threw him a few meters away from the house and he landed at the edge of the forest. Steven, Aliyah and Rasmus couldn't believe what happened and Aliyah and Steven rushed to help him up. He appeared to be okay, just a little shaken and he shook his head and blinked his eyes, "what the hell was that?" he asked no one in particular.
Rasmus lowered the car window a little and asked, "are you okay, Sean?"
"It seems to be," he answered, glancing at the house. "What would you make of this?"
"I don't know but it seems to be somewhat like a shield," Rasmus answered.
"Why would King Edward shield the palace?" Steven asked.
Aliyah watched the house and she touched her mating mark, she can feel him, he was in the palace and he seems to be okay since there is no pain. However, the intensity of the pain she felt earlier didn't allow her to relax and now, looking at the palace and seeing what Edward had done with it, proved her point. Why did he do it? Why is he preventing someone from entering?
Steven stooped over and picked a rock and then he threw it at the palace. They had to duck really fast to prevent any of them from being hit by the rock. "Whoa," he said, glancing at the poor tree that had ended up taking the rock and the scratch the force of the rock left on its trunk. "No one is getting in there."
"What are we going to do know?" Rasmus asked.
"I don't know, we wait, I guess?" Sean shrugged.
"No," Aliyah shook her head, "no, Edward needs me, I need to see him."
"Ali, no one is getting in through that fire, can't you see it. It's a miracle that I am still alive from what I felt touching it. It was like an electricity, a thousand volt to say the least," Sean shuddered, "if I was a human, I would be dead, electrocuted as it is."
"Judging from that rock, nah, I won't advice anyone going in there," Steven said.
"Then what am I going to do? I don't even know his fate in there or what is happening. I don't even know why he did this? I can feel him but..." she sobbed, "he is in trouble, Sean, I know it."
"Hey, hey," Sean grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug, "calm down, we will find a way, okay? Who is Edward, he is not someone that is just going to allow himself be killed or hurt, is he?"
"But he is hurt, Sean, I felt the pain. It was intense, and nerve breaking," she looked up at him, "something happened, Sean, something painful."
"We will get through this, there will always be a way," he whispered and kissed her forehead, "there will always be a way," he hugged her.
Steven watched them and sighed, he knew Sean was trying to calm her down and so he said nothing because if it's to him, he doesn't see a way into that palace, there was literally nothing they can do but then again, Aliyah needs to calm down. He went and leaned on the car, waiting, like all of them was doing.
"Hey, did I ever tell you what Edward said when he saw me at Black wind pack the first day he made appearance when he resurrected?"
Aliyah sniffled and shook her head.
"He called me Prince David," he chuckled, "I can't believe I haven't told you that since then."
Aliyah frowned and looked up at him, "I don't understand."
"That was how I felt too until he said that I have come back to protect you this time like I couldn't before but then I didn't need to worry for he won't let mistake repeat itself," he frowned, wondering if he got his words correctly.
"So, he means you are like...prince David, princess Mariah's brother? The crowned prince of Vallahan?"
Sean nodded and he could see the shock in her eyes as he smiled. "I have always known you are my sister, well...in our previous lives of course," he scratched his head.
Aliyah was still in shock and before she could respond, they heard car engines and turned to see about five cars driving in. When the cars parked and everyone climbed down with shocked faces as they stare at the palace on fire, Aliyah went to them and took the now whimpering Asher and kissed his head. "Hush, mama is here," she held him tightly and it was like their presence were calming the other.
"What is happening?" Malachi asked.
Sean sighed, "this was how we met it."
"So you have not been inside?" Alan asked and he shook his head.
"The palace is burning but it's not burning," Damien seemed confused and wanted to know if anybody was seeing what he was seeing. "There is no smoke and no heat, but the palace is on fire."
"Yes, it's like a shield, a defense mechanism," Steven answered. "But if it's like that, what is King Edward defending himself from or why does he have a shield up?"
"Irene, it's time to tell me your vision, please. No matter how gruesome it is, I have to know." Aliyah stared at the woman pleadingly.
Irene sighed and nodded, "I saw him in a fight, with her, that woman in the human realm."
"Oh, she hurt him?" Aliyah asked.
"I...I don't know but he seemed to have been in a pain before the fight. I didn't see what happened next but I know something happened, that was when I came to you. However, I can feel that whatever that is happening to him was not caused by her."
"Can we pass the fire?" Malachi asked.
"I wouldn't advice that, it's quite painful," Sean said.
"So what are we to do now? We don't even know what is wrong." Alan said.
"I will tell you what is wrong," a voice said and they turned to see the woman that Sean and the rest recognized as the Fox Queen. "The King is hurt and if he is hurt, being a nightwalker, what happens when you get hurt?"
"We fall into a deep slumber," Malachi answered in a whisper.
"Oh no," everyone seemed to have said that.
