Mr Ceo and Me
"Duck!" Kane screamed out to no one in particular, hoping to prevent any deaths.
Kane lifted his head up to see Austin, Bernard, the girls and Olivia? They all were smirking.
He understood the rest, but Olivia? She was a mole the whole time.
Leah noticed Olivia standing with them, and it made sense to her now.
Since the day she meant her, Leah always had a weird feelings about her.
Despite clicking extremely well, Leah had a unusual feeling about this friendship. It was something she couldn't place her finger on but her gut felt a weird feeling.
It was a little weird how they immediately clicked and became friends as they had similar hobbies.
Leah had a hunch but she thought she was just overthinking. But, she always kept it at the back of her head.
If in the event where Leah just misunderstood Olivia, it would save her from embarrassment. However, it turns out her gut feeling was always right.
Before anyone could react, another bullet was fired, aiming towards no one in particular.
Where were all the bullets coming from, they had no idea, but what mattered were the bullets currently aiming towards Matthew.
In an instant, Leah jumped forward, causing her to take the bullets instead. By then, everyone went to her.
Enya immediately acted quickly, calling the ambulance. Leah by now was losing blood at a constant rate.
Kane's eyes had tears, afraid of the worst outcome. Enya had told him the ambulance was on their way, hoping to calm him.
As expected, the paramedics arrived within five to ten minutes of the call and swiftly placed Leah on the stretcher, wheeling her off.
Kane, Kayley and Liam tagged along in the ambulance while the rest drove off in their cars.
It was a nerve wracking experience. One happy occasion turned into something so bad.
They couldn't even get a breather, even for just a short while. Kane now just hoped Leah would be alright. He couldn't imagine his life without her.
Once they reached the hospital, it was just a waiting game. Everyone also came by slightly later than them.
All of them were worried but they also were curious as to where the bullets came from. It was as though it was a sniper which made the most sense since neither of them were holding a gun. With their calm and cool posture, it made the most sense.
By then, they were nowhere to be found. At this point, police had also came down to the hospital to get their statements.
At the same time, they were tracking down their whereabouts after hearing Kane's testimony, which proved to be a very vital information.
When they all got their statements done, her newly made friends had left to change and freshen up while the rest stayed.
They all took a 'shift' and made sure Leah was fine, giving updates. Within forty eight hours, Leah was awake.
She woke up to see the familiar white walls again. Her memory at first was a little foggy, but she slowly started to piece everything together.
The grand opening, and Olivia, as well as bullets. Leah found herself wearing a hospital gown. After blacking out, she didn't know what happened next.
Leah was worried that someone else might have got hurt. Despite her very soft and slight movement, the blanket wrapped around her made her family look up.
Kane immediately got up from his sleep and rushed to her side. Gently, he helped her to sit up and poured a cup of water for her.
"How's everyone?" Was her first question. Kane couldn't help but fall in love with her more, as if he wasn't deeply in love with her in the first place.
"Everyone is fine. How are you, you had everyone so worried" Kane said, kissing her gently on her cheek.
They embraced into a hug. As he remembered he wasn't the only one in the room, he went to her parents, who were in a deep sleep, to wake them up.
Next, he dialed his parents and sister to let them know she was awake. Her new friends were informed through Enya and Scarlet.
Kayley was super happy to see Leah awake and healthy. "ä½ ä¸æ¬¡è¿å»é¢çæ¶åæ好æ¯å ä¸ºä½ æå!"
Which translated to- the next time you are in the hospital better be because you are pregnant, with the help of Liam.
She usually spoke in mandarin when she was worried and angry. At least she isn't mad mad, Liam thought.
Chucking at the thought, he does hope so. Kane would rather go to the hospital for a joyous occasion, not a problem.
He smiled at the interaction with her and her parents, then fussing over small things while she was telling them to relax.
It was a very warm sight to see.
Kane was so focused on Leah that he didn't even realize that his parents, sister and friends had arrived.
They all came in, each holding something for Leah, as a 'get well soon' token.
Smiling at their thoughtfulness, she thanked them and chatted a bit. When she recovered, it was time for business.
â¢â¢â¢
It had been a week since she was released from the hospital and life was interesting to say the least.
With the help from Kane's lawyer, they realized the contract had been tampered with. Showing it to Matthew confirmed their doubts.
Kane's private investigator also came back with some information- the money received is to fund some drug organization.
Clearly, they didn't cover their tracks well enough.
But they still had a problem- to get the real contract back. As Matthew's spare copy also got taken away, they had to find it at Austin's place.
For one, they had to contact the police to let them know that there was money laundering involved. Maybe with a warrant for a house search, the contract could be found.
Kane needed to do everything by the law so nothing can be said about him and they all get jail time.
After the meeting with the lawyer, the couple sat on the couch, wondering what to do. With everything that has been going on, their heads were about to explode.
Leah's grand opening for the boutique had to be postponed till a later date. It would be best to remain low right now.
Right after Leah got shot, they had spread rumors and since being known as the girlfriend of a reputable business man, it was vital to keep up their image.
Those rumors were false, all of them but with the amount of paparazzi constantly lurking around the house, it was best for them to not leave the house temporarily.
While they were enjoying the quietness to think, Kane exclaimed:
"I have an amazing idea!"
