24| break-in

The next day, despite Leah's limited sleep, she woke excited and better than ever.

She was going to bring her parents around, plus show them the store. It was going to be a bonding day for them.

Leah had no means of asking Kane to join. She didn't want to force him to tag along. He probably had other things to do. It was Thursday, a work day, after all.

Getting ready quietly, careful not to wake Kane up, she brushed her teeth and did her skincare. Though it was tedious, her efforts did pay off.

Her skin was pretty good, with little to no blemishes on it. That was one thing she was proud of.

After that, she proceeded to choose her clothes for today. Leah knew that they would roam around and so dresses and skirts were out of the choices.

So she chose to wear shorts. Of course, paring it with a black colored top and a belt. She also tied a braid.

Once she was satisfied, she left the bathroom and went into the kitchen to whip up a Taiwanese breakfast, or at least tried to when she realized she didn't even have any ingredients for that.

Jotting down on the notes app, she then decided to buy some food from McDonald's. As she was about to leave to buy food, Kane called her.

"Where you gonna go baby" He hugged her from behind, still half asleep. Leah smiled at Kane's bed hair and pouty lips. He clearly wasn't fond of a pillow as his companion.

"I'm gonna buy breakfast for you and my parents" Leah said. As much as Leah wanted to stay in his arms, she knew that she had to leave now before her parents were going to wake up.

"You can go back to sleep you-" Her words were cut off by a suddenly energetic Kane.

"No! I'll follow you. I'll get ready now. Got to make a good impression on my future in-laws"

Her heart skipped a beat at the words- future in-laws. She didn't even know that marriage was already a thought in his mind.

Despite only knowing each other for three months, the fact that he had thought far make Leah smile with joy. But she didn't want to be weird about it.

Let's relax and take things slow, she thought. After all, they had only been dating for around month. 1 February. A super easy and memorable day for the couple.

Waiting for him, Leah decided to fill her to do list up on her notes, mainly the things for her shop. Speaking of which, she wanted to bring her parents there.

She thought they would be proud.

Just then, Kane had looked much more presentable, but she couldn't deny how precious and cute he was just now.

He was acting a kid whose kid was taken away by his parents.

Dressing in a black top and black shorts, they left their place holding hands. At first, Leah wanted to buy McDonald's, but Kane thought of buying Taiwanese breakfast food for her and her parents.

Calling the Taiwanese restaurant they usually go to, they pre ordered. Being there many times made them great friends with the manager.

Though, Kane was planning to meet the boss and open another branch of a Taiwanese restaurant nearer to Leah's new shop. He just had to have the meeting in secret. Kane knew it would cause a smile to form on her face.

Leah laughed at her stupidness, totally forgetting the Taiwanese restaurant they frequently visited.

In a blink of an eye, they arrived at the mall.  In spite of the early hours, there was a slight crowd, people mainly rushing for work.

And then she remembered- Kane. "Don't you have work Kane? Oh I'm so sorry you can go I'll just grab the food and find a way back myself" Leah ranted, feeling bad about the days he took off just for her and her family.

"Baby, I'm not going to work today. Maybe tomorrow. I wanted to spend time with my girlfriend's parents and my girlfriend as well.

Besides I'm the boss. No one can fire me" Kane reassured her who still felt a little bad.

"Don't worry babe, I know what I'm doing. I rarely take a day off. A few days won't affect my company alright. Don't be sad, let's go eat your favorite Taiwanese food from your favorite restaurant" Kane said as he hugged her tightly, wiping away the slight tears.

She was just happy that he was voluntarily joining the Knight family trip.

Leah's ex boyfriend had not even give two shits when Leah poured her heart and soul to him about her parents. He didn't even bother to put his phone down and was just playing his game.

And when she wanted to ask for his help, he called her a gold digger and left.

While deep in her thoughts, Kane nudged her when he had collected the food. Holding the food on one hand, he held Leah's hands in the other.

Despite trying to help Kane carry the food, her rejected and sometimes raised the food high up so that she couldn't reach, even jumping didn't make it easier.

In the end, Leah gave up and just held his hand, to reduce the unwanted attention they were receiving.

Together, they headed back to their place to see Liam and Kayley were already ready and  awake. They must have been a little confused as to where the couple was.

Entering the place with the food, the smell wafted throughout. Liam and Kayley both found the smell to be familiar but couldn't seem to out their finger on it.

Looking at the bags which held the food, he looked at the label and realized.

"We are the owners" Liam said looking at the bag. Kayley hearing his words turned and saw the familiar they had made. Together.

You would think being a boss of a restaurant guarantees easy money right? But you are wrong.

They had to pay bills for the place and their flat, the workers as well as the ingredients. Plus the fact that it was Taiwanese food, not many people actually enjoyed it.

But they opened it for a reason- for Leah. They weren't sure where she exactly was, though they had a hunch she was residing here. This was in hopes of getting her to visit here.

Despite them staying near the countryside, they had been trying to find a place nearer to the mall. It was just easier for them.

And the funny thing was, Kane had no idea they owned the place.

"Really? We have been there many times and we have never seen you guys" Kane said astonished.

"Well we are in the kitchen for the most part. After all we are the best people to cook authentic Taiwanese food. But sometimes we take the day off, like today" Liam explained.

Kane nodded and shared, "I was about to email you guys in hopes of having another outlet near Leah's place" He said this softly, careful not to let Leah hear. It is a surprise after all.

Liam looked at Kane and he knew that he was treating his princess right. Both Kayley and himself could see the way they complement each other.

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's eat!" Leah had just finished arranging all the food.

Though Kane hasn't tried all these different foods before, he kept an open mind. He didn't want to appear rude in front of Leah's parents.

He had grown to like many of the foods Leah had ordered. Everything was finished and cleared off by the four of them. The food was really good.

"I'm so full. I feel like a whale. But I want to show you something mom and dad" Leah told them, lying on her mother's lap.

On a hunch, Kane assumed it would be the store she was working on. And he guessed it right.

"I'm going to open my own boutique. It's not completed yet but I still want to show you" Leah gave a warning to not expect so much.

"Let's go princess" Liam said as he gave her forehead a kiss. He held his wife's hand as they entered the car where Kane as usual opened the door for her and this time her parents.

"Thank you Kane" Kayley smiled at his gentleman like ways. She was glad Leah is being treated well.

When everyone settled him, he drove off. During the car ride, Leah shared her shop's progress and how everything was.

Not long after, Kane parked and opened the door once again did for the both of them.

However, when they entered, the sight of the shop made everyone shocked .
