Chapter 22

20| the contract

Mr Ceo and Me

"So Kane tell me why can't you marry my daughter?" That was the first time Austin had said the moment he entered.

Though Kane has gotten the restraining order weeks ago, for some reason Austin decided to make an appearance now.

Weird, he thought.

"I don't want to marry your daughter just for the sake for your benefit" Kane responded back calm and collected, one of his best traits that he has.

Kane honestly had one thing in his mind- Leah and her words. He was over the moon when he heard Leah said that.

At first he thought he was hallucinating but when Leah scooted closer to him, demanding a cuddle, he knew it was real.

Plus, Leah woke up looking happy and said 'I love you' again after brushing her teeth of course. We don't have smelly breath here.

"Kane!" Austin's voice brought him back to reality.

"You will marry my daughter one way or another. Remember the contract" Austin said smirking, walking out of the office.

As Leah was about to knock on his door, Austin had walked smirking to himself. She wondered what all of this was about.

"Hi Kane. Are you alright?" Leah asked in her usual tone which calmed Kane down a lot.

"Not really. Austin's being a pain in the ass. He wants me to marry Jessica. I refused but the stupid contract" Kane ranted his frustration to Leah who listened attentively.

Also, she gave him a small massage, trying to make him feel more relaxed and not act irrationally.

"Want me to take a look at the contract?" Leah proposed.

Seeing that it wouldn't hurt, he pulled out the contract and handed it over to her.

"Continue" Kane pouted. Leah knew what he was referring to- the head massage.

"Honey I need to read the contract. I'll give you the head massage at home later okay?" Leah promised.

Kane did pick up the word 'home' which made him smile. At least she was getting used to staying with him.

"Alright let's see" Leah muttered, getting comfortable on the seat opposite Kane. She didn't want to exactly sit on his lap. She just found that a little weird.

Flipping through the contract, Leah analyzed every single detail in it, trying to see if there's anything that can be used against him.

But before she did that, Kane had roughly explained their problems to her. Maybe a new persons can help find a loophole.

At least, Kane would not have to marry Jessica.

Once he finished, she began looking through.

Leah was not planning on missing any detail.

Her efforts finally paid off when she spotted something that could be of help.

Kane was admiring how sexy she looked doing work. A professional business woman. He was already predicting her fashion boutique would do very well, and it is through her efforts.

"Honey. I found something that might help you" Leah called him over.

"Look at this" Leah had continued to explain and an idea was hatched in Kane's head.

With a plan, they knew what to do now.

"Come on, let's go find Austin Warts" Kane smirked.

•••

"Kane. What a pleasure. Are you here to ask my daughter's hand in marriage?" Austin asked in an arrogant tone.

"May we come in please?" Kane ignored his previous statement.

Unfazed, Austin opened the door and they went in, only to be stopped again by Austin.

"Why is she doing here?" Austin looked at Leah in disdain.

Leah could have sworn Austin muttered "weak bitch" but she didn't give much thought.

"She's here because she's here" Kane said, pushing Austin out of the way.

Austin pulled himself back up and caught up with them, keeping up with Austin's long strides.

"Kane, what do you want?" Austin tried, keyword being tried, to pull him to talk but he was too weak.

Thankfully, Kane and Leah managed to navigate their way to where the living room was, if not, it would be one awkward situation.

In there, there was no one, which was good. Austin also had reappeared and took a seat opposite them.

"So what do you want to talk about?" Austin said.

"The contract" Kane replied, taking it out from his briefcase. "Look at segment D part 3, it says no romantic relationships is to occur between both parties for the gain of one party" Kane had presented him with the evidence.

"Jessica is considered not be part of either parties. It's talking about me and you. Not that I want anything to do with you anyways" Austin added that last part quietly.

"Literally Jessica takes after your last name" Kane rebutted back.

Speaking of the devil, the literal one, Jessica had came down, wanting to get some açaí when she saw Kane from her peripheral vision.

Having not seen for a month due to the resting order he placed against her, Jessica took the chance and ran over to hug him, pushing Leah out of the way.

Jessica was wearing a short blue dress and she looked amazing. It showed off all her curves. Leah found her extremely gorgeous despite her personality.

"Omg! Kane! I missed you so much" Jessica exclaimed, pecking him on the cheek. Kane was unable to react quickly, seeing how fast Jessica was.

He of course, pushed her away but Jessica was quite persistent. This reminded him of Hannah. It really was deja vu.

"What is she doing here? How's your burns anyway?" Jessica asked condescendingly, snorting at her own joke as if it was the funniest thing in the world.

"It's fine" Leah replied back. She suddenly just had a boost of confidence which was unlike her. Usually, she would have just avoid it.

Character development, we love it.

"Please let go of my arm. I'm losing blood circulation" Kane said, making Jessica feel apologetic.

"Oh I'm so sorry Kaney!" Jessica apologizes in a very saturated high pitch voice.

"Anyways, I will not be marrying Jessica" Kane said, looking at Austin, as if trying to challenge him.

But of course, Austin would not back down for a challenge like this.

"What why? We are meant to be together?!" Jessica was shocked by the news obviously.

She unknowingly helped Austin to get a marriage out of them. It would be a win-win solution for them.

"You can speak to my lawyer if you have a problem. Let's take this court shall we?" Kane challenged.

"We'll take my leave now" Leah said after being quiet for a long time.

Remembering Leah's presence, Jessica was annoyed. "It's her right? She's the one who affected our marriage!" Jessica was livid.

"That statement is false. Whether I knew her or not, I wouldn't want to be with you even if you were the last person on earth" He shot back.

And with that they left.

Austin muttered to himself, "Let's play this game then".
