Chapter 11

09| stalked

Mr Ceo and Me

It was finally 6pm and she could clock off. They gave her the option to leave but she decided to stay instead.

She just wanted to complete her work before leaving.

Leah felt very emotionally drained so she just walked straight back home. not caring much about her surroundings.

The moment she reached home, she sat on her couch, careful with the burns.

Leah distracted herself by cleaning up the place, watching some netflix, and doing some drawings.

She also thought of taking the day off, but remembered she was meeting Kane. Leah knew he would probably understand but decided not to.

It would help with the distraction.

Leah ate her pasta she had pre made. Thank god for that.

After that, she wanted to take a shower, being super duper careful with the burns.

As she cannot use soap, it was a quick one. After that, she applied the cream to help soothe the burn.

Hopefully it would heal over the weekend.

She felt very cooped up in her apartment so instead, she decided to take a walk to the park.

It was about ten minutes and it wasn't that late. But just as a precaution, she brought along pepper spray and a taser.

It was about 7.30 when she arrived at the park. Leah felt much better. The fresh air helped her clear her mind.

She was listening to music and admiring the scenery. As it wasn't too late, there were older couples strolling which made her remember her parents.

Leah just wondered- were they okay? If they were she could at least relax.

She just wanted some sort of an answer.

Looking at the time, she realized it was getting kind of late. I better leave now, Leah thought.

She quickly got up and left, making sure she didn't leave anything. She felt uneasy, not sure if someone was behind her.

Hearing footsteps, she immediately had a siren going off in her mind but tried to remain calm, as if unaware of the person's presence.

An idea came into her mind-calling Kane. She would pretend to have a normal conversation but hinting the fact that she was in danger.

Leah gave herself a pat on her back mentally, proud with her idea.

Grabbing her phone, she dialed Kane's number, praying to go through.

Thankfully, she heard the familiar voice. "Leah? That is unexpected"

"Hi. Are you coming?" Leah faked.

"Coming? I thought we were meeting tomorrow?"

"Oh okay. I am walking towards the entrance of the park" She continued.

With a quick and a smart brain, Kane could figure out what was going on. "Are you in danger?" He asked.

"Yes. Let's go for supper. I know a place where they have really good Korean food" She was lying through her teeth.

"Go to somewhere crowded. Send me the address and stay on the call with me" Kane instructed her.

"Oh I see you now!" She continued to lie, waving her hands.

Leah quickly turned her head to see the person had ran off. She heaved a sigh of relief.

"They are gone now. It's fine" Leah said. "Thank you for helping me and sorry for the trouble"

"That is not an issue. Where is it?" Kane asked. He was already getting into the car.

"No need for that. It's a short walk" As much as she was grateful that he cared, it would be easier for her to walk back.

"Nope I'm not letting you do that. I don't want to scare you but what if there is someone? Just send me the address please?" Kane pleaded.

"Okay fine. I'm at the park near my place, Spring Dale" She gave up arguing and gave the address instead.

She waited there for not long as Kane was speeding. Sorry, not sorry.

Kane honked his horn to signal his arrival. Leah came back to reality from the honk.

She smiled at him sheepishly as she entered the car. "Sorry, I was thinking"

"No worries. I'll drive you back now" Kane smiled at her.

During the ride, it was pretty much silent. Kane decided to give her the space and silence to think.

Kane thought that would be good. As much as he wants to get to know Leah more, now is not the right time.

He then remembered his plans with her tomorrow. After today's events, it was unlikely she would follow through.

Not blaming her though. It is one exhausting day for her.

"I'll give you the day off tomorrow and we can reschedule for our dinner. Take your time to rest and recuperate" Kane mentioned.

He didn't want her to feel obligated to follow the plans, let alone go to work.

"I'm actually okay. I don't mind going back. I do need some sort of distraction" Leah reassured Kane who seemed taken aback by her words.

He sighed, "Okay, but feel free to leave. Just drop a text to either Enya or me" Kane said. He was worried.

"Alright" Leah promised when they reached her apartment. "Thank you so much for today. I really appreciate it"

"No problem. How are your burns?" He asked very cautiously.

Kane didn't want to come off as overbearing so he spoke in a gentle manner. Besides, she might not want to share or talk about it.

"It is still the same but hopefully it will heal over the weekend" Leah replied, which made her remember she was meeting an agent on Saturday for her shop.

"Hopefully. Let me know if you need anything" Kane offered, making sure she remembers.

"Alright. I'll leave now. See you tomorrow" Kane bid her goodbye.

"Thank you so much. Drive safe and see you tomorrow" Leah waved as she watches him drive off.

She then returned back to her apartment and had a second 'shower' to feel clean.

Feeling the tiredness, she headed straight to bed, remembering to set her alarm and falling into a deep sleep.

•••

When she woke up, she felt slight pain at her arms. It was understandable though.

Leah tried to avoid sleeping on her side but it was made impossible. She always slept on her side so it felt uncomfortable.

To add on, she felt the soreness from just sleeping in one position.

She loved to toss and turn so not being able to do so was one interesting feeling.

Since she still had time, Leah decided to scroll on her phone for the minutes before getting up.

Feeling better, she got up and changed into her work attire.

She decided to wear a long sleeved dress which covered her burns but yet is cooling. It was a shimmery gold color dress, kind of like a wrap dress.

Following her morning routine, she ate her breakfast as per usual, biscuits and a cup of tea before leaving the house.

Not to forget her pasta she pre made. She planned to finish her braised pork rice from two days ago.

Along the way, she admired the scenery, despite seeing it everyday.

When she reached the office, she could feel stares of sympathy from her co workers. She didn't like it.

She would rather them forget about what had happened yesterday.

Not caring, she decided to just head to her seat and start on some work.

This is going to be one long day, she thought.
