Bonus Chapter: D Gets Jealous

In the streets of us

It was a lazy Saturday afternoon. The kind where time seemed to stand still, and the outside world faded into the background. D and Amir were lounging on the couch, enjoying their weekend in the quiet of their little apartment. D had his legs stretched out across Amir's lap,  as they watched some random movie on Netflix.

Amir was scrolling through his phone, completely absorbed in something—probably a text message from his cousin or some meme, D guessed.

But then, it happened.

Amir let out a soft laugh, the kind of laugh that made D's chest tighten a little. He didn't even realize what he was doing until it was too late. His eyes narrowed slightly as Amir typed something on his phone, his smile growing a little wider with each passing second.

D's mind started racing. *Who could possibly be making him smile like that?*

"Who's that?" D asked, his voice suspiciously casual, though the hint of irritation was clear.

Amir glanced down at him, looking completely oblivious to D's sudden shift in mood. "Hmm? Who's who?"

"The person you're texting," D replied, leaning up on his elbows, his face now set in a half-frown. "They must be hilarious."

Amir raised an eyebrow. "Uh... it's just my cousin, D. We were talking about some party next weekend."

D's frown deepened, but Amir didn't seem to notice. He was still absorbed in his phone, fingers tapping away at the screen.

*His cousin?*

Amir had plenty of cousins. But why did this one have to be so funny? Why was he making Amir laugh so much? D couldn't put his finger on it, but the jealousy was creeping up inside him, building in that way that he didn't always know how to handle.

It was a completely irrational reaction, D knew that. But he wasn't about to admit it.

"I thought I was the funniest person you knew," D muttered under his breath, still glaring at Amir's phone like it had personally offended him.

Amir paused mid-scroll, blinking down at D in surprise. "What? You are," he said with a soft chuckle, brushing a hand through D's hair. "But I still like talking to my family, you know? It's not a big deal."

D's pout grew more prominent, and he folded his arms across his chest, turning his face away. "Mm-hmm. Sure."

Amir bit his lip to keep from laughing, clearly seeing through D's act. "You're jealous, aren't you?"

D shot him a quick look, his lips curling in a tight smile. "What? Me? Jealous? Nah." He threw himself back against the couch, staring up at the ceiling as if trying to pretend he wasn't fuming inside.

Amir didn't take the bait. Instead, he set his phone down on the coffee table, fully focusing on D now. He leaned over, his face inches from D's. "Oh, you're jealous," he teased, his voice low and playful. "And you're being cute about it."

D turned his head dramatically to the side, doing his best to act uninterested, though his heart was racing now. "I don't care who you talk to, Amir. Do what you want. I just... just don't go laughing like that for anyone else."

Amir's eyes softened, his teasing grin turning into something more sincere. "You're the one I laugh with the most. But... I guess I'll just have to save the rest of my jokes for you, huh?"

D finally gave in and rolled his eyes, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "That's better."

Amir grinned, leaning down to kiss D's forehead gently. "You know, I'm only laughing with them because you make me smile so much. You've set the bar pretty high, D."

D looked up at him, his heart fluttering as he met Amir's gaze. "Good. Because you're stuck with me now."

Amir's grin only widened as he cupped D's face in his hands, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "I'm not going anywhere. I wouldn't dream of it."

D smiled, his jealousy melting away as quickly as it had come. He pulled Amir down into another kiss, this one slow, deliberate.

"Just make sure you remember who your real favorite is, yeah?" D whispered with a playful glint in his eye.

Amir chuckled, his lips still lingering on D's. "I'll try my best."

But even as they laughed and kissed, D couldn't help but feel that warm, comforting feeling in his chest. Maybe he was a little jealous, but it was only because Amir meant so much to him. And Amir had made it clear time and time again that he felt the same way.
