Chapter 92
The Sweetest Trophy Wife by Beanie
Chapter 92 Stalling
On the other side of events, Liam had followed Gwyneth out of the auction hall. But when he was about to walk out, Elizabeth went up and
stopped him.
Initially, Elizabethâs attention was focused on Kingsley. She was both excited and apprehensive at the same time. When she returned to her senses, she realized Liam had gotten up and left. She did not expect that.
Elizabeth felt a buzz in her head, and her body became unstable; she almost fell off her chair. Not wanting to be one step behind, she hurriedly went after Liam. She did not wish for him to see Gwyneth being taken away, nor did she want him to save her. âThis cannot. happen. It must not happen,â thought Elizabeth.
She was walking so fast just to keep up with Liam that her feet almost got tangled up. Elizabeth tried to keep her balance, but her upper limbs were out of control. That was when she pushed her arms onto Liamâs back.
Liam was understandably a little angry after being suddenly pushed in the back. It may seem like a normal mistake for others, but a sudden push on the back in upperâclass circles is considered a big deal.
Liam frowned lightly and turned around to see Elizabeth, who had an embarrassed expression, Liamâs brows furrowed even tighter, and a hint of impatience flashed across his face, possibly because he did not expect it to be her.
âWhat?â
âNâNothing. Itâs just that Luther Corporation did not win anything today. I was afraid that you would be sadâ¦â said Elizabeth when she was actually trying to stop Liam from walking out of the auction hall. However, with no good reason to justify herself, she said whatever she
could come up with to stall.
Unexpectedly, after hearing this sentence. Liam frowned even harder. âDo you think I came here today to bid for Luther Corporation?â
Elizabeth moved her lips around but did not know what to say when asked this question.
âIâve said that I will not be making any investments in this auction during previous company meetings,â Liam said word by word, with a touch of seriousness in his eyes. âDonât tell me that youâthe secretary of Luther Corporationâs CEOâforgot that, Elizabeth.â
Elizabeth panicked. She had never seen Liam look at her like this in all the years she had been around him. She lowered her head and bit
her lips as she said with a hint of grievance, âIâm sorry, Liam. MâMy mind has been all over the place recently since I noticed you care less
about me nowâ¦â
While Elizabeth said that, her eyes gradually turned red. However, no one knew if the tears were real or if she was faking it. On the other hand, Liamâs expression did not change at all. The emotions behind his gaze also gradually began to go away. Only indifference was left in
his eyes when she stopped talking.
Liam could be said to be unmoved by Elizabethâs expression. After so many years of dealing with her, he thought that he had treated her well enough. Not much evidence had been confirmed regarding the fire that happened that year. However, based on the evidence presented, Liam could determine that the person who saved him was not Elizabeth. Though Elizabeth pretending to have saved him was a
serious matter, Liam decided not to press her about it.
âDid she really think that I would fall for it?â Liam looked away and walked off. He was unfazed by Elizabethâs words and expression. It only took him a few steps to leave the auction hall and turn to enter the underground parking lot. But Gwyneth was nowhere in sight.
âHow did this woman move so fast? Liam muttered in his heart. Just as he was about to leave, a silver car appeared in his line of sight. In
a heartbeat, Liam rushed up to the car. âIf I remember correctly, this is Gwynethâs car.â He could not have gotten it wrong since the car had
been parked in the yard of the Luther residence before.
âHer car is here, but sheâs not.â Liamâs heart suddenly beat faster, and his palms became sweaty. He turned his head sideways, and a light refraction made him close his eyes.
Liam then opened his eyes to see that the refraction came from a bracelet in the corner. âThatâs Gwynethâs bracelet,â he thought, and he was right. The woman seldom wore any jewelry. The only thing she wore was that bracelet.
Liam clearly remembered that he had teased Gwyneth about the bracelet the first time he saw it.
âFuckâ¦â Liam cursed under his breath. He quickly grabbed his phone and dialed Gwynethâs number. âSorry, the number you have dialed is
unavailable.â
