After I left my mate, I had to force myself to calm down. As much as I wanted to stay with them, I knew that I had work to do.

First things first, I needed to meet with Alphas Emerson and Bowen to ask if they'd be able to take in a few of the wolves. I hated having to ask them for even more after they had already done so much, but it needed to be done.

By the time I reached my office, the two were already waiting inside for me. Alpha Emerson was leaning back in his chair and saying something while Alpha Bowen sat straight and looked as if he wanted to be anywhere but in the same room as Alpha Emerson.

When he heard the sound of me entering, his head shot up and he almost looked relieved.

"Slater!" Alpha Emerson greeted with a smile. "How are the wolves doing?"

"Scared, but so far they're okay for the most part. That's actually what I wanted to talk about," I told him as I took a seat. "There were a lot more wolves than we originally thought there were, so I wanted to know if the two of you would be able to take a few of them. Until they're able to stand on their own two feet that is."

Without a second thought, Alpha Emerson nodded. "Of course, when I told you the Lunar Night pack would help, I meant it. We'd be happy to take in a few of them."

I expected as much coming from Alpha Emerson. For as long as I've known the man, he's always been one to give without a second thought. That was why I had asked for his help in the first place — I knew he'd be someone reliable who actually cared about the well-being of the wolves held captive there.

He wasn't the one I was worried about convincing. My head turned to Alpha Bowen who sat there with a straight face. Alpha Bowen was a man of little words and little emotion, but when he gave you his word, he would come through. That was the reason I had asked him.

"As is, the Red Woods pack doesn't have much open space," he admitted. "We've recently had an influx of members joining so while we can take a few, not much."

I nodded in understanding. "Anything helps."

The last thing I wanted to do was burden either of them even more. If I had to make some adjustments to the pack then that would just have to work. I wasn't going to kick anyone out — if some of the older newer wolves wanted to leave then that was their choice, but unless they decided that on their own, I wasn't going to force them to. The same went for the original members. I knew that having a sudden rise in pack members was going to be a little difficult to manage and get used to so if they wanted to transfer to another pack, I was completely okay with that.

"That being said, in a month's time, the new pack house will be completed and there will be much more open space. If you still need help then, we'd take a few more."

"Thank you," I told the both of them honestly and Alpha Emerson shook his head.

"There's no need to thank us, it's only right. Especially after all they've been through."

Alpha Bowen nodded in agreement before standing up. "I should head back now. If some of them will be staying at the Red Woods, for the time being, I need to prepare."

Alpha Emerson also stands to go and I tell them thanks one last time before showing them out. With the two of them gone, I debated about going back to the hospital to check up on my mate, but the sound of a voice caused me to stop.

"Alpha Slater!"

I turned around and behind me were Emilia, Indiana, and Stellan.

"I just thought you might want an update on how the children from earlier are doing," Emilia tells me. "Doctor Monroe managed to get them to eat something and they're now all currently in the children's ward."

It relieved me to know that they were doing okay, especially after a day like today. I was sure they'd have a long path until they were completely alright, but this was a good step in the right direction.

"Thank you, Emilia," I told her honestly.

Emilia nodded and the moment she stopped talking, Indiana quickly took her place. Her eyes twinkled in an all too familiar and mischievous way that caused me to let out a sigh.

"Yes, Indiana?

"Who's the omega you placed in the private room?" She asked, her tone revealing just exactly what she was alluding to.

I didn't bother to deny it. "They're my mate."

Indiana's face instantly lit up and Stellan turned to me with a curious expression on his face.

"Does that mean they'll be your luna?"

"Either luna or second alpha. I'm not sure of their gender as of right now," I admitted, making a mental note to find out shortly.

Emilia frowned at that. "The elders are going to have a fit when they hear about where your mate came from. What are you going to tell them?"

"They wanted me to take a mate and now I've found mine. They can't hold it over my head seeing as I've met their demands. If they get mad and try to through a fit, then they'll just have to leave my pack," I tell her sternly.

But now that it had been brought up, I was a little worried about how they'd react. If they took it the wrong way and I ended up having to kick them out, it wouldn't be the end of the world, but pack elders often held a lot of power and I was worried about how the rest of the pack would react to my mate if the elders took it the wrong way.

Indiana noticed my frown and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Who cares what they think? Sure they may have some power, but at the end of the day, you're the alpha. Besides, if they do take it the wrong way, at least you'll know who to keep around and who to get rid of. Plus, you'll still have us!"

I nodded at Indiana's words and while there was some truth in there, I couldn't help but dread the upcoming meeting with the elders. While I knew some would just be happy that I had finally taken a mate in general, I worried about the few who would try and argue against my mate. I shook my head and forced the thoughts away. As much as I wished otherwise, it was inevitable and soon I'd have to face them.
