Chapter 51: Preparations

The week ran too fast if I do say so myself, but anyway the faster the better right?. It was the end of school but we were assembled in the hall for an emergency assembly.

"What do you think the important Intel is" I asked Caleb and Natalie beside me but they just shrugged.

We waited patiently till we heard the familiar sound of heels approaching and revealed our beautiful principal with her tablet in her hand.

"Good afternoon students" she greeted with a smile and we greeted back.

"So there has been a change of plans, everything is happening sooner. the meetings and competitions we have been preparing for, for the past week is going to be held tomorrow not Wednesday" she said and some gasped and my heart started racing.

Oh no no no, I'm not ready yet. Oh this reminds me, y'all don't know. well Caleb, Elliot,Naomi, Maddie,Natalie and I are representing senior category and I'm not sure we're all prepared for the science, art and debate/essay/spelling competitions. I'm sure y'all are wondering why our best student Liam isn't participating,well he doesn't want to,he's focused on his football.

"So after lunch, those concerned would go to their respective teachers for prep and the footballers and basketball players to their coaches" she said scrolling through her tab.

"There would be no sports tomorrow so be prepped and clean tomorrow by 9am. Be properly dressed in your uniforms then daywears and be on your best behaviour, please don't disgrace me,yourselves and the school. They would be here by 9am but the academic competitions start by 11am. Sporty matches start by 4pm and everything would be ending by 7pm. Don't worry everything is happening at different times so no one is missing out on anything"

"Also we have contacted all your parents informing them about the events and some have agreed to show up and support their children so don't be surprised if you see your parents tomorrow" and most of the little ones cheered.

"Then as for Monday" she said in glee. "Be ready by 7am because immediately after breakfast you'll hit the road on the way to WEH for the 1week exchange program, also properly dressed in your daywear. Pack everything necessary and remember to have fun" she said.

"Now for the moment we've all been waiting for, who is going and who is not" she made a dramatic pause. "Year 7 we have Blake ,chisom,Somto, Hannah...." And the list went on till it reached my class. "Year 10 we have Henry, James, Naomi, Maddie, Favour, Ann, Caleb, Natalie, Ashley and Presley" she called the names for our class and the names went on till the senior class.

"And last but not the least year 12 we have Melissa, Sophia, Asher, Rose, Elliot, Ella, temi,ayo,James and Bella" she called. Hmm she just took the important prefects.

"Again please, na beg I dey take god beg you,biko don't disgrace me, yourselves or the school when y'all get there" she begged and we smiled at her mistrust for us.

"Anyway that would be all. Headboy please stay back I would like to see you. The rest your dismissed" she said and we filed out. I stood up and looked at ash worried but he just winked and mouthed 'its ok princess, I didn't do anything' with a smirk and I left with the others.

* Asher's POV *

Once everyone was gone I went to the front to meet her and she motioned for me to take a seat at the front row which I did, I actually didn't have any idea why she was calling me.

"Let me just make this quick so you can have your lunch" she said taking a seat and turned grinning, she's so pretty.

"So Liam, how's the schools beloved headboy faring" she asked.

"I'm doing great principal R.K"

"That's nice to hear, but do you know what's not nice to hear"

"What"

"I heard your not participating in any of the quizzes nor debates nor essay competitions"

"Oh"

"Why tho"

"Well...emm..uggh do I have to" I whined.

"Well depends on your reason" she said calmly.

"I just don't want to Mrs king. I just want to play football for that day" I said honestly.

"Its true your the football captain" she said and I smiled. "Well it would be a shame for The team to play without a captain" she said and my smile dropped.

"But... but why, I've been a good student. I don't think I've punched anyone in the face for a while, or did they snitch" I asked.

"No they didn't snitch, you just did but that aside, let me just cut this short and easier for you" she said scouting closer.

"I like to win, and you would give us a greater chance of leading us to victory so if you don't join most of the competitions, say goodbye to your precious football trophy and let me just inform you that some of the finest sports personnel are coming to watch our players play, plus I can chip in a good word for you " she smirked and I thought for a while then nodded in defeat.

"Good boy, now you may go" she said with a clap and I stood up and Left.

After collecting my essay topic "the Nigerian economy today", my debate topic " which is more beneficial to the country capitalist, socialist or mixed system" and a file of topics I have to study for the Quizzes, Natalie, Maddie,Naomi and I had a brief lesson and went on to do our research in computer lab.

When I was finally done, we went to go and meet the rest of the team to learn how the whole event is gonna go down.

Once I entered the room I saw Ann sitting next to Elliot and seriously paying attention to what the professor is saying. I sat next to her and I guess she didn't notice so I placed my hand on her thigh and she looked at it irritated and traced it to my face then looked forward then back taking a double take with wide eyes.

"What are you doing here" she whispered and I dropped a bunch of files on my table.

"Oh I see" she said understanding. "So what changed your mind"

"Nothing" I deadpanned

well don't worry it will be fun" she encouraged passing a hand through my hair and I scoffed.

"We'll see about that" I said under my breath.

After getting all the shit sorted out like knowing our sitting positions, how we're gonna cooperate and stuff we were finally scoot free.

"So I'm gonna go sleep, then prep for all of this" she said motioning to the bunch of files in her hand.

"Okay, I'm gonna go train for like an hour or two then catch up with the learning and memorizing" I said with a sigh.

"I love you, don't worry you can do it" she said stretching to kiss my lips and I leaned so she can.

"Love you too princess" I said before holding her face and kissed her. "Oh and before the end of today remind me to give you something" I said and she pecked my lips again.

"No p b" she said and turned to leave while I headed for the fields.

* Ann's POV *

"Uggh...my brain is going to explode" I groaned dropping the big biology textbook. Apparently, those that are participating in the competitions should prep on one table.

"Don't worry just take panadol and you'll be fine" Naomi smiled.

"There are some really weird words out there" Natalie said studying her sheet. "But I can get it done" she shrugged taking an Oreo from the bowl on the table.

"I've been solving maths for like 3 hours now" caleb complained.

"Well I have no worry, its not like all 5 of us taking part in the quiz would not know an answer" Elliot said feeling confident.

"Yeah plus I'm here to uphold art and my best friend is here to slay science so just relax" Ash said leaning back.

"I'm sure his head is swelling" Natalie scoffed. "Sha aren't you nervous for the matches tomorrow" she asked and everyone except me started laughing.

"Oh ha oh my that was hilarious... Oh she's serious"Ash said whipping a tear from his eye.

"I'm not following" nat said more to me and I just shrugged.

"You see my ignorant little Queen... We are posh kids but the End kids are posher" Elliot said.

"Yeah they act like they have never done a deed in their lives, they don't get down and dirty" ash continued.

"Yeah imagine their field is not even made out of real grass" caleb added.

"So I don't think they can be compared to us that can actually risk getting our hands dirty and sweat" ash finalized.

"Yeah we may be indomie children but they're spaghetti children" Naomi said.

"They need beating" Natalie pointed out.

"Swr they sound like them kids that if you lay a hand on them they'll report you" I said.

"Eh report wetin, in this Nigeria In fact in this Africa. If you report then the person you reported to will join and beat you" Elliot said and we laughed.

"Yeah my mum used to obey that law being from Arab and shit but my dad blood of Jesus never....he has hit me before for some wrong things but the day he found out that I smoked, I think I was like 12, he used mop stick to beat the shit out of me" ash said and we laughed.

"Yeah my dad has not touched me but my mum will use anything she See's at that time to whop my ass" I said and we started sharing different whopping moments.

"Anyway before I forget Ann Nat we have something for you" Ash said and they dug into their bags and Brought out two wrapped boxes.

Nat and I looked at our respective boxes then our boyfriends then each other then the rest of the table then back to the boxes.

"What is this" I said shaking it a little, its light.

"Its just a little something" Elliot said.

"Yes and if you love us, if you do?" ash said with a raised brow.

"We do" we replied with an eye roll.

"Good, you would not open it till tomorrow" Elliot completed.

"Why" i asked but they just shrugged.

"Just don't, till tomorrow" ash said.

"You can do that for me right" ash said taking my hand and kissing the rings.

"Sure" I said stroking his cheek.

Ring!!!!!!!!....prep over

And we started packing our stuffs.

"Goodnight princess" ash said kissing my forehead and I held his hand.

"Goodnight king" I whispered against his lips then kissed him.

We went to hostel, washed, bathed and brushed and we were ready for bed but weren't quite at peace.

"So what do you think is inside the box" Naomi said and we stared at the wrapped gifts labelled Ann and Natalie.

"I don't know, it's not making that much noise" I said picking mine up and shaking it.

"Mine neither" nat said doing the same thing.

"Well I know y'all want to see it badly but they said tomorrow" favour scolded taking the boxes from our hands and into her locker.

"Goodnight" she said jumping onto her bed and we exchanged good nights.

Here's a short chapter. Mrs king really wants to win tho, I wonder what she's up to. And I also wonder what Elliot and Liam got their girlfriends. well we have to stay tuned to find out. Till next time fam.
