Chapter 29: CAT

Its Wednesday and I'm nervous about my first official test at Royalty king college.

I and the gang walked to hall for an emergency assembly and we got seated

"Good morning students" Mrs king said and we greeted back.

"Sorry for the sudden meeting, but I have an important announcement that I'm sure y'all would be happy to hear" she continued.

"The half term would be ending on Friday immediately after your tests and y'all would be going on Saturday instead of next week Friday ...making your mid term break 2 weeks" she said smiling and we all cheered.

"That would be all, go for your first paper" she said and we left.

Math was good but its time for English. Dun dun dunnnn.

I sat waiting anxiously as the invigilator shared our question papers. Thank god it was a nice teacher invigilating and he placed mine on my table but said not to touch it till he's done.

"Ok students, you may begin" he said which I did.

After 2 long sweaty hours, I was finally done and started preparing for my next paper which is chemistry.

"Hey how did you do" fay asked.

"Ok I guess" I shrugged. "Could have done worse" I said and she laughed.

Its after 3rd period and time for snacks break and fay, Caleb, henry and I went to our normal spot.

"Chemistry was nice" I started a conversation.

"I swr best paper so far" fay beamed.

"Shut up cause that's your area of expertise" I said and she chuckled.

"Math had that 50:50 effect" Caleb said.

"Shut up after you'll get 95%" fay said annoyed and Henry and I snickered  when Nat came sweating and Nay normal but still stressed.

"Guy my head is swelling"Nay said and we all laughed and I looked at nat who just sat there hopelessly.

" wetin do you" I asked in pidgin.

"Government was bloody" she said and I almost died out of laughter.

"Abeg science guys who wants to check English" henry said.

"Eh is it ready" I asked.

"Yeah...if you right a test, on a norms you can get it in 4-6 hrs except the teacher is lazy" fay said.

"Ok let's get this over with" I said and we got up to check.

We are in Mrs Ngozi's class, waiting anxiously as she arranges the papers, then looked at us nastily.

"Ok here they are" she said.

"Natalie...68%" she handed Nat's paper to her.

"Cool" she said smiling.

"Caleb....73%" she said handing Caleb's to him.

"Favour... 72%" she said handing Fay's to her.

"Henry...80%" she said handing Henry's to him.

"Naomi...92%" she said handing Nay's to her.

"And last but not the least Ann... 82%" she said giving me mine and I could not believe it...yayyyy I danced.

"Thank you so much" I told her and she smiled.

We stayed there a while checking for corrections and Fay got 2 corrections making her get 74% and we dropped our sheets and left. I was still excited and prepped for my next paper which was  food and nutrition.

I was done with my last paper and it was a piece of cake. We actually made cake tho. When I got out of the class I didn't realize how late we finished when I saw everyone outside heading to caf. I packed my stuff and rand to caf as fast as I could...in search of one person.... Asher.

I reached the caf doors and looked around. I saw ash talking to some of his set mates and ran to him. When I was close enough I jumped on his back and we almost fell to the floor but he balanced himself.

"What the fuck" he said almost stumbling.

"Thank you so much" I said into his neck then looked at the back of his head. He stood up straight then spun me around making me face  and straddle him.

"For what" he said actually confused and I saw slipping but he pushed me up and balanced me and I wrapped my legs around his waist tighter

"For teaching me English...I got 82%" I squealed then hugged him again.

"No problem" he said stroking my head then let me down.

"And don't attack your master" he said

"Ok...hi guys" I waved noticing we were still in the presence of people.

"Hey" they waved back.

"Well got to go...thanks again" I said but he just nodded in response and I left

It was time for dinner and I wore a baggy sweatshirt and jeans with boots cause I was cold and we were eating rice and dodo(plantain).

"Hey we went to check our math scores" Caleb said.

"Really when" I asked

"During siestas...you were sleeping" fay said.

"Slys...so what did I get" I asked.

"95" Caleb said.

"Kk...and you monkey" I asked.

"97" he grinned.

"Cool...and the rest of you" I asked looking at the rest.

"73" nat said. "81" Henry said. "79" favour said. "93" nay said.

"Nice" I said when someone tapped me.

"Hey...em I'm chinedu and asher said I should call you to go over to his table when your done eating" he said.

"Hey your rylie's friend right... Junior" fay said.

"Yep" he assured.

"I'm done eating and tell asher I said I'm not coming... I gotta read" I said.

"Ok" he said and left.

"What do you think he wants" henry said..

"I don't know" I said shrugging.

"He better treat my girl right" caleb said. And i smiled at him.

"Thanks monkey" I said as chinedu comes back.

"I'm sorry but its boss's orders" he said.

"What" I asked then before I knew it he carried me over his shoulder and walked away.

"Let me go" I wiggled in his grip hitting his back but he won't budge. After a while he dropped me on a seat making me face narcissist himself.

"Couldn't you be normal and come the easy way" ash said.

"If you didn't notice I'm not normal" I said back.

"Hmm true" he said.

"So why did call me" I said.

"I wanted to see my pet's face" he smirked.

"Whatever" I scoffed.

"So what do you have tomorrow" he asked.

"Biology, physics,civic, snacks break, free period then economics" I recited.

"Kk...where are you gonna stay for mid term break" he asked.

"Abuja" I answered .

"Same here....which part" he said.

"Gwarinpa" replied.

"Same here"he smiled.

" wow"I said.

"Yeah well I've seen your face enough... You can go now" he said and I was kinda sad...but went to read any way.

"Bye".I said and left
