(12) Meet Me at the Elevator
I Checked Out the Badboy's Boxers
I've been through three homecomings in my life, so I'd say I've had my fair share of the memories, both good and bad, that come with it.
Freshmen year was a joy. Back in California, my best friend had actually just left me. We had planned to go as a group until she dropped me a few days before homecoming week and moved on quick with only three small words consisting of 'you do you.'
I made new and better friends pretty quickly after that, however I was pretty much on my own for my first dance.
I got ready with my mom, in my long, glittery, purple dress. It had one slit up the side, and I felt so proud and confident in myself. My mom did my makeup, styled my hair, and boosted my confidence, before dropping me off at the doors of my high school. I remember how nervous I was, walking into the shiny ballroom of a high school gym, to see the happy couples and groups of friends walking around, talking, dancing. It looked so surreal.
The night was pretty fake, I tried smiling, and occasionally joined in the muted chatter and facaded conversations of small friend groups, but it wasn't real fun.
It was as fake as the friends who'd dropped me.
At the time, the night had been mostly total shit. But then a few minutes later, he happened. He being my first ever boyfriend. He being my ex best friends homecoming date who then left her once he saw what she did to me.
She was beyond royally pissed.
It then escalated fairly quickly, my 'friends' turned into mortal enemies, and he turned into my first boyfriend.
The second homecoming went much better. I was still with the same guy, and I had a new and better group of friends. And as the third followed, things were pretty much the same.
I'd expected the fourth to be a similar, familiar like experience.
Unfortunately, the up and move across the entire continental U.S. kind of threw a wrench in that plan.
But I keep my hopes high for this year. It will definitely be one to remember.

The most basic thing about homecoming, after the dates, is of course, the dress.
I've come to learn this, after wearing the Great Glittering Grape Gown freshmen year. Thankfully, my fashion mindset has drastically improved since then.
Not that Elle would let me wear anything as traumatic as the G4 again. Yes, I've shared this story with the squad. Can you guess who made up the whole G4 thing and continuously won't shut his piehole of a mouth about it?
Yep. If you had one speck of intelligence in your brain, you've guessed Mason, and yes, you are very correct in that matter. Want a golden medal or something? Figures.
Ever since Elle heard about the G4, she's insisting this year better be perfect.
"Guys, now that we have Lexa here, homecoming is literally going to be perfect. A storybook, little, perfect homecoming." Elle beams at us.
Mason shrugs, "I mean, if I'm involved than obviously there won't be anything little about it, but I guess perfect seems alright."
Jared laughs. Elle stares daggers into his eyes.
Parker looks across the circle and side smiles at me. I smile back and look down towards the circle.
Elle planned this whole meeting thing supposably to plan our 'perfect homecoming.'
I think the only thing that's happened so far is a see who can piss off and get the most glares from Elle competition. By the looks of it, Mason's winning.
Parker props himself up with one hand and stands, "I'm going to go pee."
Elle wrinkles her nose, "Thanks for sharing."
"You're always welcome." He grins, before looking over at me.
Approximately three minutes later, I feel my phone vibrate on my leg. I pick it up.
Unknown number: meet me at the elevator
I grin and cover my phone with one hand, "Guys it's freezing in here. I'm gonna go grab a sweatshirt, I'll be back in a few minutes."
"Now I don't know about you."' I hear a voice as as I approach the elevator, "But I didn't want to sit in there and spend another two and a half hours discussing everything down to the specific type of apple we'll eat before we go."
I look up and grin, seeing Parkers mimicked expression.
"Want to go somewhere?" He raises an eyebrow and positions his hand paused above the elevator buttons.
"Where?"
"Out." He responds, a glimmer in his eyes.
"Well obviously, but out where?" I chuckle.
"You'll see." He beckons to the elevator, "All you have to do is step in."
I'm sure most girls would love riding in an elevator with their best friend's hot twin brother who they may or may not of attempted to drunkingly molest. Fun right?
I smile to myself and step in.
"What are you smiling about?" Parker looks down at me.
Hm. Just how hot you are. Not that you'll ever know.
"I call pushing the button!" I declare and smile again pressing for the first floor.
The wait for the descend wasn't actually that bad. Probably because it was Parker.
Stick me in here with Boxer Boy, Jared, or even Elle and there would be shouting matches for sure.
Parker is the epitome of all things calm, he's like the breeze on an otherwise overwhelmingly hot day. He's like a relief, a breath of fresh air, and other stereotypical calm things.
He's Parker. That's simply it.
Turns out, out meant leaving the building and getting into his car.
Go figure.
"Hey you, gonna tell me where we're going yet?" I give my best convincing smile across the console.
He takes his eyes off the road for a second, "Sorry I'm driving. Can't distract myself." He smirks.
"That's a bullshit excuse Park." I roll my eyes.
"And you're reason for needing to know is 'a bullshit reason,' Lex."
I scoff.
"If I told you, I'd have to kill you. And I'm not planning on going to jail anytime soon, I'd never see you. I'm sure you wouldn't want to come visit me in that dirty, filthy-"
"Wait, wouldn't I be-"
"Oh yeah." He chuckles, "You'd be dead. So, let's just trash that plan, yeah?"
I chuckle, "Throw the plan into your natural habitat, trash?"
"Now that was rude." Parker looks at me, "It is called garbage can not garbage cannot." He chuckles, "So you are not one to judge, because they have a pretty big potential there."
"Oh my god, you're ridiculous." I laugh.
He winks, "Does it turn you on?"
"Not in the slightest."
"My plan is ruined." He mocks an evil cry.
"Oh damn, I apologize I'm such a plan killer, do you think we could hang out another time after this and I can make it up to you?"
"Hm." He bites his lip, "Depends what your thoughts are on how exactly you are going to make it up to me."
"Vanilla frap."
"I'm not a white girl, thank you very much. Think outside the box a little Lex."
"Okay, I've got it." I smile.
"What is it?" He raises an eyebrow.
"It's a secret. And if I tell you," I lean in a little, "I'd have to kill you." I finish with a smirk.
-
"Okay, here are the rules of this casual outing." Parker tells me. Currently the car is parked at a huge lot outside one of the biggest theaters in town.
"Let's here them."
"One." He smiles, "You have to say 'Parker is so much better than Jared and Mason and he is my favorite person in the entire world due mostly to his hotness and also amazing personality.'"
"No."
"Okay, well moving on. Rule number two, I'm paying." He smiles, "And three.." He unbuckled and hops out of the car, walks around and opens my door.
"Three?" I ask, unbuckling.
"You have to let me hold your hand." He reaches down into the car, a questioning look in his eye.
He's definitely taking what he can get here, and pushing the limits.
I smirk, "I guess I'm alright with that."
He grins and takes both my hands to pull me up and out of the car.
"Ready, set, go!" He takes off sprinting.
"For what?" I yell, taking one hand and brushing my hair back and jogging after them. Wow. Shouldn't of skipped leg day.
Finally we've reached the end of the parking lot, he's beat me by a longshot.
I glare at him, half out of breath, half dying, and he sits there completely content, smiling at me.
"What the hell?" I laugh, "Parker, you're fracking insane."
"You know you love me." He grins, and grabs my hand again.
"So what movie are we seeing?" I ask, once I've recovered from the spontaneous race or whatever the hell just happened.
"Oh, we're not seeing a movie." He says.
I raise an eyebrow, "We're at a movie theater, and we're not seeing a movie..?"
"Okay, well, you see there are so many better and more productive ways to spend my time with you, other than spending two and a half hours pretending to enjoy some romantic comedy shit we secretly both hate."
"Hey, I like romantic comedy."
"Yeah, no you don't." He twists his hand with mine.
"Tell me then, why we're currently in the cinema?"
"Because." He grins, pulling me towards a fork in the hallway, "There's something in here way cooler than movies."
"Me?"
"Well yes, you, but there's another thing."
"Hmm." I pause, "It's not you, so whatever could it be?"
"Hey, rude." He laughs, "Here."
He pulls me over to a small amusement park. It doesn't consist of much, just a carousel, bumper cars, and a small coaster.
While the setup was small, it was surrounded in golden twinkly lights that flickered as we moved, and the whole aroma of the room seemed lit up, from the grins of excitement on the children's faces, to the beaming and proud parents, capturing their children's small victories on camera.
I grin widely, probably wider than the children.
"Do you like it?" Parker faces me.
I look up, "Park, it's amazing."
"It kind of reminds me of you."
I smile and loop my arms around his shoulders, hugging him quickly.
"What was that for?" He chuckles.
"I don't know." I actually don't. Maybe just the fact that he's gorgeous and amazing is a relevant factor that is currently messing up my brain.
"I guess I can handle that." He chuckles before grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the coaster.
What a day.
What a life.
