Qiao Xin shook off Qiao Yu’s hand, feeling like she was drowning. Qiao Yu felt powerless as if all the strength in his body had been sucked out.

“Brother, please respect my choice. Not everyone in this family has to walk the path you think is right.”

Qiao Xin left with a flourish of her skirt, entering the private room.

Qiao Yu stood in the corner, watching those beautiful girls dressed in beautiful clothes disappear into the room with their dreams. He suddenly felt that it was very funny.

Ever since he was young, his father had made him follow his elder brother’s example. He had to do everything perfectly.

They hoped he could become like his big brother, who could lead a decent life outside the family’s sphere of influence.

Qiao Yue sighed as she regarded Qiao Yu, who appeared numbed by the revelation as he stood in the surveillance room.

He understood Qiao Yue’s thoughts.

They had the same thoughts when it came to the Qiao family.

“Fourth Brother is innocent at heart. He shouldn’t have been involved in today’s matters,” Qiao Yue said.

Qiao Jing understood what Qiao Yue was trying to say. He fished out his phone from his pocket and called Qiao Yu.

Through the video feed, they could see Qiao Yu holding onto his phone while staring at the name shown on the screen. He did not immediately answer the call.

Qiao Jing frowned.

What was his brother doing? Why wasn’t he picking up the phone?

It was some time before Qiao Yu picked up. “Second Brother…”

His voice quivered, sounding like he was barely keeping it together.

“Lu Ying will make sure Grandpa takes his medicines. I can’t go back tonight. You should head home to see him.”

“Second Brother, I have some urgent matters to attend to…”

“What urgent matters are you talking about?” Qiao Jing cut him off coldly.

As far as they could tell from the image of Qiao Yu in the surveillance room, he seemed stunned by Qiao Jing’s frigid tone.

Qiao Yu wanted to devise an excuse to avoid the matter. He did not expect Qiao Jing to press him.

He looked at the lights outside and suddenly felt silly.

Even now, he was still trying to cover up how he was not in class but at a gathering outside with his classmates.

“I’m at Third Brother’s KTV right now.”

Qiao Yu’s response was outside of Qiao Yue’s expectations. From her understanding of Qiao Yu, he would never admit the truth even when pressed.

“What are you doing…?” Before Qiao Jing could finish his sentence, the dams holding back Qiao Yu’s tears failed, and he broke down.

“Second Brother, please come quickly. Father and Third UNcle brought Qiao Xin here for some reason. They’re going to hand Sixth Sister over to that Andy guy. That guy is a criminal from Country D. Only you can save her.”

When Qiao Jing heard this, he suddenly felt tears welling up in his eyes.

Fourth Brother was usually distant but polite. It took courage for him to step outside of his comfort zone.

“Listen to me, Qiao Yu. I want you to go back; there’s nothing you can do there. Andy and his gang are not people you can deal with. I’ll handle this matter.”

“Second Brother, let me stay here. You could have your men come over; I’ll stay and watch from the sidelines.”

Andy and his gang had brought drugs and guns. If Qiao Yu were discovered by them, who knew what would happen?

“Qiao Yu, calm down.” Qiao Yue decided to speak up.

“Fifth Sister, how can you ask me to calm down at a time like this?”

Qiao Yue was taken aback, not knowing how to respond to being called ‘Fifth Sister.’ She was about to say something to Qiao Jing when the latter sighed, saying, “Stay where you are, and don’t let them find you. Keep an eye out, but nothing more. I’ll send someone over.”

Qiao Jing turned to Qiao Yue and said, “We might need a change of plans.”
