8) MeGaN

My Hot And Sexy But Also Slightly Disturbing Story With The Mafia Man

At first, I melted into the kiss. I couldn't resist his ridiculously soft lips. Did this guy secretly wear chapstick everyday?

I knocked myself back into my senses and realised I couldn't give in. I couldn't lose to him. Malia doesn't lose. That's why I didn't lose my virginity. Because I don't lose anything.

I pushed myself off his hard chest, breaking the kiss. "What the hell  are you doing?"

"You wouldn't shut up," he shoved his hands into his pockets, rolling his eyes. That's a really nice way of telling me to shut up- I mean what an asshole where's the consent?

I glared at his handsome face, "Just leave."

-

I tossed and turned in bed. I felt so restless and awake. I sat up and sighed. "What to do..." I said to myself as I scanned the room for something to keep my five year old self entertained, "What. To. Do."

I pushed the blanket off of me and slipped my fluffy grey slippers on. I grabbed a purple silk robe from the closet and wrapped it around myself. I quietly opened the room door and crept out. The hallway was dead quiet. There was no one in sight. That made sense considering the fact it was around two am.

I strutted around the mansion aimlessly, looking for something to do. There was a light coming from the end of the hall. It was Leeroy's office. I crept up to the door, pressing my back against it. I peeked my head through the crack in the door. There was no one there.

I shrugged and flung the door open. The huge bookshelf caught my attention. I narrowed my eyes at it, waiting for the shelf to turn into a secret passage way revealing an angry Luca. But it seemed ordinary enough. I walked over to the shelf and ran my fingers across the spines of the books while whistling the tune of Dancing Queen by Abba, cause why not?

I stopped whistling when I came across a book. But it wasn't just any book. It was... a strange book. Strange wasn't even the word for it. It was more... peculiar. Why would Luca have a book like this?

"I definitely didn't think Luca was the type to read such books," I tsked.

"Little Women," I read to myself. He's such a weirdo. Which guy owns this book? To be honest though, I find it kind of attractive. He's got a sensitive spot. I couldn't help but blush at that thought.

I opened the book to the first chapter. Suddenly, the book shelf  started moving. It opened opened up. And there he was. Standing there with a gun.

"It is a secret passage! I knew it!" I gasped excitedly.

"What are you doing here?" he walked to me- his shoulders back and chin up, pointing the gun at me. Was he trying to intimidate me? How cute.

"I was bored. Decided to read," I held the book up. His red eyes suddenly widened.

"What are you doing with that?" He snatched the book from hand.

"Relax, Jo," I reached for the book. He pulled his hand back, out of my reach.

"Find another book," he said through gritted teeth.

"What's the big deal? It's just a book."

"No. It's not. It's not yours."

"Can't you share? Sharing is caring afterall."

"No! It's her book, not mine, and certainly not yours!" he yelled. Looks like it's someone's time of the month. Why was he being so weird? It was just a book. And who's this 'her'?

"Fine. Guess I'll just stay here with you then," I sat on the leather couch. "Entertain me."

He looked at me then threw the book in my face. "Don't damage it."

He sat behind his desk and went through some papers. I relaxed into the couch, swinging my feet up. When I opened the book, a piece of white paper fell from the pages.

I looked up at Luca. He was still engrossed in his work. I looked back to the piece of paper. Slowly, I unfolded it and read what was written:

"Mi amor, do not worry about me. I am safe. You however, are not. You have to stop this, Luca. I know that you want to protect your father and I, but it's gone too far.

You have no idea what they're planning. They're diabolical. They're dangerous. Even for you. Stop being stubborn, mi amor. I know that you are strong. You have nothing to prove. But you know this is the right thing to do. Please stop all this madness. Please.

For me."

That was strange. I thought about asking Luca what this letter was about, but I know him better than to do that. Instead, I folded-

He snatched it from my hand. Great.

"Who asked you to touch this?"

"I'm sorry it just fell-"

"Did you read it?" he yelled, slamming the letter on his desk. He was starting to scare me.

"I-" He grabbed my arm and pulled me off the couch.

"Did you read it?!"

"Yes!" I answered quickly, "I read it..."

He took a few quick breaths in and out. My heart was pounding. I was genuinely terrified for once. He seemed more pissed off than usual.

He calmed down after several minutes of just glaring at me. "Go to your room."

"No."

"No?"

"I want to know what that letter was all about."

"We all don't get what we want," he sat back in his chair. "Now go."

I gave in and nodded. There was no use questioning him now when he looked like he wanted me dead. I walked passed him, but quickly grabbed the letter from his desk and slipped it into my pocket.

-

I took a seat on a white bench in the garden patio. I still had the book with me.  This time, I opened it it to the very first page. There was a little message written on it.

"I know how much you hate this book. Almost as much as I hate you ;)

-Megan"

"Megan?" I whispered.

"She was his love."

I screamed my lungs out. There was some girl, a rather stunning girl, standing behind me.

"Sorry I didn't mean to startle you," she smiled.

"That's okay."

"I'm Yasmine," she held her hand out.

"Malia," I shook it.

"Oh you're Malia. He was right. You're hot."

"What?" I laughed.

"Luca. He's my cousin."

"Wait a minute. You're Paulo's daughter?"

"Guess I am," she tucked her black hair behind her ear. Her hair was quite short, like a bob. She was a bit dark skinned. That just made her big brown eyes pop out.

I smiled at her. My eyes travelled down to the book in my hands. I couldn't help but frown at the name written there.

Guess she must've notice, because she said, "You have nothing to worry about. She's... in the past."

"So, she and Luca... were together?" I furrowed my brows.

"They were going to get married."

"Well why didn't they?" I moved over on the bench to give Yasmine some space. Time to spill the tea.

"The mafia's a dangerous place, Malia. It'd be best if you didn't know-"

"Please. I want to know."

She bit her lip, "Fine," she sighed. "I suppose you know about the mafia?"

"Just a little," I shrugged. Bullshit. I knew everything.

"There's a lot of rivalry going on. Long story short: our gang possessed something others wanted."

"What is it?"

"They call it The Thing. It's the biggest diamond in the country. My uncle- Luca's dad, Pablo stole it back when he was in charge. His rival, Evil Man was after it for years. But he was no match to uncle Pablo. When Luca finally took over, he knew it was time to strike. He got his men to spy on Luca. That's how they found out about Megan. They kidnapped her in exchange for The Thing but Luca refused. He thought he could find a way to save Megan and still keep the The Thing, but he was wrong."

"What'd they do?"

"They killed her." Wow. Brutal. "Luca was done. He gave them the The Thing and they agreed to leave him and the family alone."

"God that's terrible. When'd this happen?"

"Around a year and a half ago."

"No wonder Luca is like this."

"Believe me, Luca is nothing like how he is now. It's all just an act. He's worried that if he'll get close to someone, they'll take her away again. But trust me, he's so much more than a tough mafia boss. He's kind, generous, caring and he'll do anything to protect his family. Just get to know him more. I promise he'll lighten up. He already likes you. I can tell. It's just that that whole thing with Megan really fucked him up," she had tears in her eyes.

"Oh so you're the girl that knows the real him and tells the sad backstory to make the girl feel sympathetic for him and fall for him and becomes good friends with her."

"Uh... what?"

"Nevermind," I laughed awkwardly.

"Just promise me you won't give up on him that easily."

"I promise," I held her hand.

"Thank you," she squeezed my hand.

"Well I'm gonna go unpack." She got up and that's when I noticed the suitcase. "Just got back from college. Spring break," she explained.

"Spring break," I smiled to myself. "I almost forgot I actually had a life before this."

"I'm really sorry. Luca can be intense."

"Eh it's okay. This is way more fun than college anyway."

"I'll see you in the morning," she smiled and went off.

-

I knocked on his office door. He looked up at me but didn't say anything. He probably didn't want  me around. But I went him anyway.

"Why are you still awake?" He was reading through some papers.

"I ran into Yasmine." That outta catch his attention.

"She's back?"

"Yeah. Oh here's your book back," I placed it gently on his desk. "Okay, I'll leave now. Goodnight."

I turned around and started walking. Then I stopped in my tracks. I turned back around to him.

"She told me what happened about Meg-" I stopped myself. He looked at me. His eyes were different. They were filled with pain. "I'm sorry."

He smiled at me. Luca. Smiled. At me. Luca smiled at me. He smiled. At me. His smile was... flashy. I think I melted then and there. His teeth was perfect. I'm a sucker for a good smile. Not really a good time to check him out while talking about his dead girlfriend. Yikes.

"Anyway. Goodnight."

"Malia wait!" I turned around, again. He called me but didn't say anything. He just sat there in his chair and stared at me.

"I want you to know that I don't think you're just some tough mafia boss. I'm here for you if you need anything. And I promise I'll stop giving you a hard time."

He stood up and walked over to me. He eyed me down the whole time. He stopped two inches away from me. He gently placed his hand on my face. He caressed my cheek with his dumb.

"You're nothing like her," he looked me in the eye. Ouch.

"I'm sorry," I looked away embarrassed.

He pulled my face back in line with his. "It's a good thing."

My heart just went uwu.

"I have some questions," I whispered.

When he nodded I asked, "Did you really love her?"

"More than anything." I couldn't help but feel jealous. I know she's gone, but I just wish he could one day feel the same way about me.

"Ahm," I cleared my throat. "I should go now."

"Don't go," he whispered.

"Why?" I looked into his eyes, searching for a reason to why he wanted me to stay. Hoping that maybe, just maybe, the reason was because he slightly felt the same way about me too.

"Just... don't," he rubbed his thumb against my cheek again.

"Okay. I won't." I nodded, still staring into those beautiful hazel eyes of his.

He slowly leaned his head down. Was he going to kiss me? I stood on my tippee toes and leaned my head up. I moved in closer and went in for the kiss.

Then he moved his head to the side. Did I just get swerved?

I scoffed, "Goodnight, Luca."
