Chapter 7
Everlasting Proposal | LINGORM
Orm's mind raced, desperation building as she fumbled to find the keys of the house within her bag.
The sight before her felt unreal, her heart sinking with the words "Sold."
She hoped it was a nightmare, a sick joke, anything.
Yet the weight of the moment was undeniable, and the cold reality bore down on her like a heavy burden.
Luckily, the door unlocked, swinging open with a familiar creak.
But Orm's eyes widened as she took in the chaos before her, the mess and ruined books.
She yelled out Fah's name, her voice tinged with a mix of shock, confusion, and growing frustration, "Fah! Fah! Are you here?!"
However all she was met with was the sound of her voice echoing through the empty house.
As she surveyed the rest of the house, her eyes darting around, she couldn't find even a hint of her belongings.
She looked for her cherished piano, the only reminder of her late father, but it was gone, adding to her growing sense of disbelief.
"This isn't funny anymore,"Orm muttered under her breath, her voice tinged with irritation.
This prank was no longer amusing; it was becoming excessive, and it only fueled her need to find Fah and Mike.
Orm's mind whirled, the memory of a number she had stored long ago coming to her : the contact of one of Mark's staff members.
She remembered working at the office briefly but realized the cubicle lifestyle wasn't for her.
She thrived in creativity and felt more fulfilled when writing, which had become her cherished escape.
With determination, Orm took out her phone, her fingers swiftly searching for the number, ready to dial.
The line was quickly picked up.
A cheerful voice greeted her on the other end, filled with a hint of familiarity.
"Hello, Orm. To what do I owe the pleasure of this call?"
Orm skipped the small talk, her tone tinged with urgency and a hint of annoyance as she cut straight to the question.
"I've been trying to reach Mike, but his phone isn't working. Did he happen to come to the office today?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of demand and desperation.
The woman's response hit like a bombshell.
"Do you not know? Mike has resigned. He even moved houses. His wife is pregnant, by the way," she informed casually, not grasping the full impact of her words.
Orm's mind struggled to comprehend the swift succession of events.
Her heart racing, the words "wife" and "pregnant" ringing in her ears.
How could he have gotten married without her knowledge?
Orm's mind whirled, her voice tinged with desperate curiosity.
"Do you happen to remember his wife's name? Even a description would do," she pressed, her tone urgent with a hint of panic.
"I don't recall her name, but she was tall and pretty, with brunette hair," she added matter-of-factly, unaware of Orm's growing turmoil.
Orm felt like someone had punched the air from her lungs. The description matched - it had to be Fah.
Her mind buzzed with confusion and a mix of shock, her brain struggling to process.
"What the hell is happening?" she muttered, the profanities slipping past her lips. Fah and Mike, married? It made no sense.
Orm hung up without a second thought, her mind racing. Two days away, and Fah and Mike were married? It felt as if she had been transported to an alternate reality.
Leaving the woman mid-conversation, Orm's mind whirled.
She couldn't fathom how this had all unfolded so quickly and without a single sign.
Her house was sold? Without her knowledge or consent!
Sold to whom? She had absolutely no freaking idea how or why.
Orm looked around the remnants of her house, her gaze falling on the kitchen's sparse contents. It was enough to make do for one night.
The thought of the unknown buyer loomed over her, the mystery of who took her house without her knowledge.
Tomorrow, she resolved to find them and plead for them to give her the house back, hoping for a miracle.
Weariness tugged at Orm's eyelids, and she found herself growing tired.
She glanced around the house once more, settling on the wooden floor.
It wasn't the comfiest place to rest, but her tiredness won out, and she decided to lie down hoping to get some sleep before she could face the harsh reality.
